The purpose of this article was to explain the relationship between attachment styles and epistemological beliefs with students' empathy, which according to the nature of the research, the research method is descriptive-correlational. The study population includes male and female undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of the Islamic Azad University of Garmsar in the academic year of 1998-99 with a number of 6000 students, of which 400 students (222 females and 178 males) as Available were selected. The statistical sample completed the Schumer (1990) Epistemological Beliefs Questionnaire, Hezan and Schiver (1987) and Toronto (2009) Empathy Attachment Questionnaires simultaneously. SPSS and Lisrel software were used to analyze the data. Findings showed that attachment has a direct positive relationship with empathy and is able to predict it. Knowledge stability, learning speed and knowledge simplicity are related to the path of avoidant attachment style and are negatively and indirectly related to empathy. Learning speed was mediated by anxiety attachment style and negatively correlated with empathy. The inherent ability and simplicity of knowledge through a secure attachment style were able to predict empathy. Of the only contextual variables, marital status was a good predictor of empathy. Other variables were not able to predict empathy or did not show a strong and significant relationship. According to the results of this research, it can be said; A person's experience of the quality of attachment can predict the growth of epistemological beliefs as well as the extent of his empathetic behavior. The purpose of the current research was to identify the role of perceived social support, attachment styles, identity styles, and personality traits in discriminating between addict and non-addict groups. In this causual-comparative study, the statistical population includes all male addicts (ranging in age from 15 to 25 years old) in Tooska’s rehabilitation camp in Tehran (Afsariye Zone). For sampling, 60 addict males and 60 non-addict males by available sampling were selected. Assessment instrument consisted of NEO-FFI (Costa & McCrae1992), ISI-6G (White et al, 1998), Adult’s attachment styles (Besharat, 1379), and perceives social support questionnaire (Zimmet et al, 1988). Data was analyzed by SPSS-18 software and discriminant analysis method was used. The results showed that these variables can predict the membership in addict and non-addict groups. The 12 predictive variables accounted for 61.7% & 60% of the variance between addict and non-addict groups. By comparing standard coefficients, the most 3 important components in discriminating between groups were respectively: normative identity style, perceived social support, and conscientiousness personality trait. In stepwise discriminatory model, 86.7% of participants were categorized in addict and non-addict groups correctly. Manuscript profile

The purpose of current study was to predict specific domains of hope based on attachment styles. The research design was correlational. The population consisted of all newcomers to Bu-Ali University of Hamedan in 2011-12. From among them, 250 were selected by multistage random sampling. Then, they attended the research instruments namely, Hazan and Shaver Adult Attachment Styles Questionnaire (1987) and Sympson Adult Domain-Specific Hope Scale (1999). The data was analyzed by structural equation modeling. Results showed that secure attachment style positively and significantly predicted each of five specific domains of hope (i.e. social relationship, academic, family life, occupation, and leisure time); but avoidant attachment style did not have any significant relationship with them. Furthermore, ambivalent attachment style could just predict family life of domain specific hope negatively and significantly. These results show that hope increase in individuals should be considered by their attachment styles since it needs to be taken place within certain specific domains of hope in order to avoid any further problems and to facilitate the efficacy of hope-inducing properties. From the perspective of the evolutionary psychology, the range of adolescents, the period of the review of psychological symptoms can be considered. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of attachment styles in adolescent’s risky behaviors. The statistical population of the study was 2570 male high school students in Najaf Abad city (Isfahan) in the academic year of 2012-2013. A multi-stage random cluster sampling method was used to select 247 of them. Measuring tool included scale attachment styles (Collins & Read, 1990) and Iranian Adolescent Risky Behavior Scale (Zade Mohammadi & et al, 2012). The results of stepwise multi-variable regression analysis indicated that Safe attachment style of hazardous driving components, violence, smoking, and alcohol use high risk behaviors with 4, 6, 8, and 11 percent of their variance, respectively, and negatively predicted respectively. The avoidant attachment style predicted components of drug use and friendship with the opposite sex by explaining 13 and 8 percent of their variance and ambivalent attachment style, predicting the components of friendship with the opposite sex and sexual relationship and sexuality by explaining 6 and 5 percent of their variance. These results indicate that attachment styles play an important role in the tendency and prevention of risky behavior in the students and young adults. The purpose of This study was the explaining of superstitious behavior based on attachment styles and anxiety. The design of this study was correlational in nature and the statistical population consisted of 12874 students of Bu'ali University based on the statistics of the University of Bu'ali in the academic year of 2016-17. Among this population, 370 of them were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling method using the sample size formula. In this study, we used superstitious behavior (researcher-made 1396) questionnaires, Hazan (1987) attachment styles, and Spielberger's (1970)state-trait anxiety and data was analyzed using Pearson-Product Moment correlation and multiple regression. The results revealed that anxiety can explain the superstitious behavior of the University students. Also attachment styles can explain this behavior. State anxiety cannot predict superstition, but trait anxiety can predict this behavior. Moreover, the avoidance style can predict superstition. The ambivalent attachment style predicts superstitious behavior more than that of the avoidance style. But secure attachment cannot predict this behavior. According to the findings, we can conclude that anxiety, especially trait anxiety, is effective in the creation of superstitious behavior. People with trait anxiety are highly prepared for this behavior. On the other hand, based on the previous research findings, the insecure attachment styles, especially the ambivalent ones, which are closely associated with anxiety, are involved in creating this behavior. This study aimed to predicting emotional maturity based on attachment styles and social adjustment. This study was cross-sectional from type of correlation. Among the adolescents boys of Zanjan city in 1398 year, number of 200 people were selected as sample with available sampling method. To collect data used from the questionnaires of emotional maturity (Singh and Bhargava, 1991), attachment styles (Collins and Reid, 1990) and social adjustment (Bell, 1961) and to analyze data used from methods of Pearson correlation and multiple regression with enter model in SPSS version 19 software. The findings showed that secure attachment style (r=0.37) and social adjustment (r=0.29) had a positive and significant relationship with emotional maturity and avoidance (r—0.40) and ambivalent (r=-0.44) insecure attachment styles had a negative and significant relationship with emotional maturity. Other findings showed that attachment styles and social adjustment were able to significantly explain 33.6% of emotional maturity changes of adolescents boys (P<0.05). Based on the results, it is recommended to increase the emotional maturity of adolescents boys through workshops, especially parenting workshops can increase secure attachment style and social adjustment and decrease avoidance and ambivalent insecure attachment styles. The purpose of this study was to compare antisocial and borderline personality disorder, empathy, and mirror neuron function in chronic addicts and non-addicts with secure and insecure attachment styles. The research method is causal-comparative. The statistical population of this study consisted of all opioid addicts (opium and heroin addicts) who were referred to addiction treatment centers in Tehran in 2019. Sampling method was purposive sampling. The research instruments included the Hazen & Shaver Attachment Style Questionnaire (1987), Davies Empathy Questionnaire (1983), the Millon 3 Clinical Multidisciplinary Questionnaire, and electroencephalography apparatus. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance. Results of data analysis showed that main effect of attachment styles was significant (p <0.05). Accordingly, the differences between the two groups of secure and insecure attachment styles in antisocial personality, borderline personality, empathy, and mirror neuron function in the cz channel were confirmed. Accordingly, in both groups of addicts and non-addicts, insecure attachment style had a greater effect on antisocial personality, borderline personality, empathy, and mirror neuronal function in the cz channel. . Also, people with a secure attachment style from a psychoanalytic perspective have a better ability to control their transient needs and behavioral impulses. Benefiting from a strong super ego allows the individual to manage and control the emotions and impulses of the id more powerfully. Postponement of immediate and transient needs draws human attention and concentration to the satisfaction of more important and long-term needs that play an effective role in a person's mental health, as well as the amount of neurotic anxiety caused by interpersonal conflicts. It focuses on the behavior and reduction of impulsive behaviors in these people. Manuscript profile

Objective: The recent outbreak of the new coronavirus (covid-19) has caused a great deal of stress and anxiety around the world. The aim of this study was to present a structural model of resilience on coronary anxiety with a mediating role of religious orientation. Method: Sample size based on the ratio of variables to the subject, which usually the number of samples should be at least 2 to 10 times the variables (items). In this study, since the questionnaires used include 57 items, therefore the sample size according to the minimum statistical analysis conditions of 200 students in Qom was selected by stratified random sampling method and research data using resilience questionnaires. (Connor Davidson, 2017), attachment styles (Collins and Reed, 1990), coronavirus anxiety (CDAS) and religious orientation (Allport, 2001) were collected and analyzed for data from Pearson correlation and structural equations (SEM). SPSS and smart pls.2 software were used.Based on the results, the causal model confirmed the relationship between resilience, attachment styles, internal and external religious orientation and coronary anxiety based on different fitting indices. The results show that at a confidence level of 0.95 due to the larger significance level of T and Sobel statistics (3.145) of 1.96 it is clear that anxiety attachment has a significant direct effect on coronary anxiety mediated by internal religious orientation and due to Smaller significance level of T and Sobel statistic (0.321) showed that anxiety attachment had no significant direct effect on coronary anxiety mediated by external religious orientationAt the significant level of T and Sobel statistics (3.181) secure attachment and (2.439) resilience from 1.96 it can be concluded that resilience and secure attachment had a direct and positive effect on coronary anxiety mediated by internal religious orientation. Results The above shows that resilience reduces coronary anxiety by strengthening the inner religious orientation. Manuscript profile

Academic achievement is the most important parameter in the efficacy of each educational system. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the relationship between attachment styles, risk perception and fear of success and students’ academic achievement. The study population consisted of all the male and female high school students in Urmia in the 2014-2015 educational years. A total of 380 students were selected using the multi-stage cluster sampling technique in terms of district, gender and educational level. Data were collected using attachment styles questionnaire (Van Oudenhoven, Hofstra and Becker, 2003), risk perception scale (Benthin, Slovic and Severson, 1993), fear of success questionnaire (Zuckerman and Ellison, 1976) and the average of students’ grades. The questionnaires have a desirable validity and appropriate reliability. Data were analyzed with Pearson’s correlation coefficient and path analysis techniques. The results showed that in the first model, the secure attachment style had significant, positive, direct and indirect effects on academic achievement. The variables of risk perception and fear of success proved good mediators between secure attachment style and academic achievement. In addition, in the second model, insecure attachment style had a direct and significant effect on academic achievement; however, it had no significant indirect effect on academic achievement. The variables of risk perception and fear of success were not good mediators between insecure attachment style and academic achievement. Based on the results, emphasis should be placed on the roles of attachment styles, risk perception and fear of success in academic achievement. Manuscript profile

Addiction to internet as one of the phenomena of the modern era includes cognitive, excitatory and behavioral aspects. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the attachment styles, fear of negative evaluation and internet addiction in college students. The method of the study was correlational. The population included all the M.A. and Ph.D. students studying at the faculty of human and social sciences, Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Tehran, Iran in 2013. 161 students were selected as the final sample, who filled the Internet Addiction questionnaire, the Adult Attachment Inventory and the Brief Fear of Negative Evaluation Scale. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis tests. The findings indicated that avoidant insecure attachment styles (r=0.264), anxiety insecure (r=0.300) and fear of negative evaluation (r=0.174) were significantly correlated with internet addiction, whereas the secure attachment style was not significantly correlated with internet addiction. In addition, regression analysis results revealed that avoidant insecure attachment styles and anxiety insecure (R2=0.130) and fear of negative evaluation (R2=0.030) had significant contribution in predicting the students' addiction to internet. Therefore, to prevent internet addiction, it is necessary to consider the role of psychological factors such as insecure attachment styles and fear of negative evaluation. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this study was to predict addiction tendency based on early maladaptive schemas, attachment styles and parental patterns in women who use tobacco. For this purpose, 130 women smokers (smokers and hookahs) living in west of Tehran were selected by available sampling method. In order to measure variables, the Ahwaz addiction tendency (Zarger et al.) Questionnaire was used to measure the addiction tendency variable, Yang-Short Form Short Scale (YSQ-SF) Questionnaire to measure the variables of early maladaptive schemas, adult attachment style questionnaire Collins and Reid were used to measure the variables of attachment styles and the parental model questionnaire was used to measure this variable. After completing the questionnaires by the subjects, SPSS-21 software was used to analyze the statistical data in two descriptive and inferential levels. Inferential statistical results showed that the variables of the early maladaptive schemas with defective / shame schemata (β = 286/0), dependency / incompetence (β = 0/208), obedience (β = 0.242) and sacrifice (262 / 0 = β) can predict the tendency to addiction. Also, the variable of attachment style with avoidant style with positive and significant relationship (β = 0.244) and parenting model variables with logical authoritative model with negative and significant relationship (β = -0.444) can be related to addiction tendency in women who consume Tobacco Forecast. The tendency to addiction in tobacco use women is predictable based on early maladaptive schemas, attachment style and parenting pattern. Therefore, it is necessary for researchers, researchers and therapists to focus on reducing the trend towards addiction or leaving people with substance abuse to these variables. Manuscript profile

The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between attachment and adjustment with the mediating role of self-esteem. Our research method was correlational research based on path analysis method. The statistical population were consisted of 225 students of Shiraz high schools (102 female and 123 male) that were chosen by multistage sampling. The means were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Armesden & Greenberg, 1987), Bell Adjustment Inventory (1961) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965). For data analysis we used path analysis. The results showed that attachment to mother and peer effectively predict self-esteem. Attachment to mother directly predicted subscales of home and social adjustment. Also, attachment to father could directly predict the affectional adjustment as well as home adjustment, and Peer attachment predicted directly the social adjustment. Furthermore, self-esteem had significant relationships with other dimensions of adjustment. Other findings revealed the mediating role of self-esteem on the relationship between attachment style and psychological adjustment. So, it can be concluded that attachments style and self-esteem, are two important components in prediction of adjustment in adolescents.   Manuscript profile

the aim of this study was to determine the role of attachment styles and cognitive emotion regulation strategies in adolescents'social anxiety. Three hundred high school students (125 boys and 175 girls) were selected by multistage cluster sampling method and answered Attachment Styles Scale (Collins & Read, 1990), Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Garnefski, Kraaij & Spinhoven, 2002) and Adolescent's Social Anxiety Scale (LaGerca & Lopez, 1998). Results obtained from stepwise regression analysis indicated the significant role of ambivalent and secure attachment styles in predicting social anxiety components. Furthermore, it was found that social anxiety was predicted by the components of maladaptive cognitive emotion (i.e., rumination, self-blame and catastrophizing strategies) and the components of adaptive strategies (i.e., reappraisal and putting into perspective and refocusing on planning strategies). Therefore the results supported the effects of insecure attachment styles and ineffective coping strategies on social anxiety Manuscript profile

The importance of marriage and expectations from it in shaping people's lives and quality of relationships is undeniable. Expectation from marriage is influenced by many factors such as internal processes and personality traits of each person as well as environmental factors and social context. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to predict the expectation of marriage based on personality traits and attachment styles in unmarried female undergraduate students of Tehran University who are studying in the second semester of the academic year 2016-2017. In this research, which was of correlation type, 200 people are considered from the population of 240 people by multi-stage random sampling method based on regression logic (Delaware, 2015) and considering the possibility of drop, 20% will be added to this number. And the sample size was 240 people. The participants responded to McCree and Costa (1985), Hazen and Shaver (1987) attachment styles, and Jones and Nelson (1996) expectations of marriage. The results obtained using regression and Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that attachment styles can predict 43.7% of realistic expectation, 16.7% of idealistic expectation and 10% of pessimistic expectation of marriage. Also, personality traits can predict 4.5% of realistic expectation, 5.8% of idealistic expectation and 5.6% of pessimistic expectation towards marriage. Therefore, personality traits and attachment styles are effective components related to expectations of marriage. Manuscript profile

Early maladaptive schemas are profound, inclusive and ineffective patterns developed in childhood or adolescence, continue in adulthood, and act at the deepest level of cognition-in a way the person does not know about them. Typically, schemas are supposed to be developed as a result of initial experiences with attachment manifestations. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of attachment styles as a mediator in parent-child relationship patterns with early maladaptive schemas. For this purpose, 420 students of Azad University of Tehran in the academic year of 2017-2018 were selected through availability sampling and were evaluated for parental-child relationship patterns, schemas and attachment.  Hierarchical regression analysis showed that among the components of mother-child relationship pattern " control, intertwine , inflexibility and indifference", and among the components of father-child relationship pattern " intertwine " , and among attachment styles, " ambivalent and avoidant attachment styles" were meaningful predictors of early maladaptive schemas.  It seems that through modifying parent-child relationship patterns and considering attachment styles, we can prevent the formation of maladaptive schemas. Death anxiety is defined as feelings of panic, anxiety and fear of death and non-existence. The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of early maladaptive schemas in relation to attachment styles and anxiety of death among patients with cancer. For this purpose, in a descriptive correlational study, 367 patients (140 women and 227 men) were selected through volunteering sampling from cancer patients referred to specialized and oncology centre of Emam Reza, Ghaem Hospital and Omid Hospital in Mashhad between September 93 to August 94. The participants were evaluated for death anxiety level, adult attachment style, and early maladaptive schemas. The results showed that there is a significant relationship between attachment styles and anxiety of death through mediation of early maladaptive schemas, and that early maladaptive schemas have been able to affect, the relationship between attachment styles and the anxiety of death as a mediator variable. Thus, using the psychological interventions for alteration of unhealthy behavioral patterns, and counseling a psychologist to identify and modify the primary schemas, alongside the primary medical techniques, can help to reduce the psychological harm among the cancer patients. Interpersonal problems are the result of the people’s attachment history. In the attachment theory, humans have been designed to aim for basic relationship needs needed for forming a strong bond with an attachment subject that provides security, intimacy and support. Earlier studies show that different interpersonal problems adapt with different attachment styles. The aim of this study is to investigate the interpersonal problems of people based on their attachment styles regarding the moderating role of compassion in couples. Therefore, as a descriptive correlational study, 200 couples were chosen from Tehran through convenient sampling and their attachment styles, self-compassion, and interpersonal problems were evaluated. The results of the regression analysis demonstrated that self-compassion played as a mediator in the relationships between anxious attachment and interpersonal problems and also secure attachment and interpersonal problems. All three variables of attachment style have a linear relationship with interpersonal problems and self-compassion. What’s more, the non-standard beta coefficient for these variables show that the anxious attachment variable weighs more than the rest of the variables. In other words, it can be said that 41% of the changes in the interpersonal problems variable and 61% of them in the self-compassion variable are predicted by this very variable. The result of this study supports the mediating role of compassion amongst attachment styles and the amount of personal problems. Manuscript profile

Most people with anxious attachment style use negative emotional regulations strategies and impaired emotional regulations. Use of impaired strategies by those with anxious attachment style causes reduction in their capabilities to cope with stressful situations and makes them vulnerable in the face of problems. The aim of this study is to predict the risk of depression based on attachment styles and identity base in patients with depression and non-patient individuals. In order to do this, through a descriptive correlational study, 75 patients diagnosed with depression (after screening) and 74 non-patient individuals were selected by purposive sampling method and were assessed for general health, depression, attachment styles and identity base. Logistic regression analysis showed that secure attachment style and anxious attachment style respectively could in negative way and positive way predict the probability of depression. Also, increasing scores of individual’s informational and normative styles decreases the likelihood of being depressed; and increasing scores of ambivalent-avoidant identity of the individual increases the likelihood of being depressed. It seems that to predict depression attachment styles and individual’s sense of identity should be considered. Manuscript profile

Abstract Introduction: Psychosomatic diseases are physical diseases that psychological factors are effective in starting or aggravating them, and intensive and short-term dynamic treatment can play an effective role in improving psychological symptoms; Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of intensive and short-term dynamic therapy on the difficulty in regulating emotions and attachment styles in psycho-physical patients. Materials and methods: The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design and follow-up with a control group. The research population was all psychosomatic patients referred to psychosomatic clinics in Tehran in 1402. Among them, 30 people were selected by available sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (15 people). The experimental group received dynamic therapy 15 sessions of 90 minutes, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Two groups with difficulty in emotion regulation and attachment styles were evaluated in three stages. Two-way analysis of variance with repeated measurements was used to analyze the data. Findings: The average scores of difficulty in emotion regulation and attachment styles before the intervention were 72.25, 58.36, 24.08 in the treatment group and 72.12, 59.16, 23.52 in the control group respectively. (p<0.05), but after the intervention, the average scores of attachment styles in the treatment group increased significantly compared to the control group and showed a decrease in difficulty in emotion regulation (p<0.01). Conclusion: The results of the study indicated the effect of intensive and short-term dynamic therapy intervention on the improvement of psychological symptoms in the experimental group. With caution, it is recommended to use this intervention as a complementary treatment in psycho-physical patients. Manuscript profile
