The Dunning-Kruger effect is a kind of cognitive bias in unprofessional people who suffer from the illusion of superiority and incorrectly evaluate their ability to be overly real. This bias is attributed to the metacognitive inability of unprofessional individuals to identify their disability and is a blood stream in the human body. Financial managers also suffer from this cognitive error in their own assessment of others, as financial managers with a level of ability and experience usually evaluate themselves more often than they are. For example, those who have the capability of an accounting expert have their own accounting officer and those who have the ability to become accounting officer, they identify themselves as financial advisors and those who are capable of a financial manager, as financial advisers, and usually themselves more than what they are. Or vice versa, they are less than what they are, which is due to self-esteem or self-righteousness, or to Duning Kruger's. In this research, we examine the characteristics and general criteria of financial managers and identify the skills of financial managers, and the results show that the skills of financial managers are usually more than what they have in them. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction mediating by self-esteem and perceived social support. The research design was a structural equation modeling relationship. This study was carried out with 153 students selected through convenience sampling method from seventh to ninth grade female students (First High School) in Arak. To measure the variables, Loneliness Questionnaire (LQ), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and Rosenberg self-esteem scale were used. Structural equation modeling was used to investigate the research hypotheses. In order to verify the model's fit, CR, Cronbach's alpha and average variance extracted (AVE) were reported, that indicate the model's reliability. In the structural equation model, direct relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction was not confirmed; therefore self-esteem and social support play a full mediating role in relationship between loneliness and life satisfaction in the structural equation model (P<0.01) Manuscript profile

Causal effect of social comparison & self-esteem on body image of male and female students of psychology and education sciences and counseling of Payame Noor University in Ahvaz. In this article, the effect of causal comparison of social and self-esteem on body image was studied. A sample of male and female students of psychology and education sciences and counseling of Payame Noor University in Ahvaz consisted of 124 students (47 boys and 77 girls) who were voluntarily selected. The questionnaires of social comparison(sevari,1393) , body image(sevari,1393) and self-esteem Rosenberg (1965) were applied. The method of the present study is descriptive and kind of correlation. The findings represent good model of research and showed that social comparison has direct negative impact on body image(-0.17) & and self-esteem has a direct positive effect on body image(0.2). As social comparison and self-esteem affect the body image negatively and positively, the present study suggests that, in order to prevent negative body image, the positive points of self-esteem should be taken and regarded instead of making social comparison. Abstract Background: researchers and scholars are anxious to learn as much as possible about the distinctively human capacity to generate new ideas, new approaches, and new solutions. many laypersons still view creativity as purely a product of individual talents and traits. For a long while, most creativity researchers seemed to hold the same view. Even though J. P. Guildford's landmark address to the American Psychological Association in 1950 (Guildford, 1950) exhorted researchers to seriously dig into creativity as a cognitive and social process as well as a personality trait, the field stayed rather narrow for many years. Purpose: this study aimed to investigate the mediating role of self-construal in relationship between self-esteem and creativity. Method: the present study was descriptive (A correlational type). The statistical population of this study included all the high school students in Karaj who were studying in the second semester of 1395-96. To calculate the sample size, a Cochran formula was used that three hundred high school students were selected by multistage random cluster sampling method. the participants completed the self-esteem scale (Rosenberg,1992), self-construal scale revisited (Singelis, T. M,1994), and the Tests of Creative Thinking (Torrance,1965). Results: the results of regression analysis indicated that: a) self-esteem was the positive and significant predictor of creativity, b) the independent/ interdependent self-construal was positive and significant predictor of creativity, and c) the self-construal levels mediated the relationship between self-esteem and creativity. Conclusion: According to the findings of this research, it can be concluded that creativity will be influenced by social structures and cultural attributes rather than influenced by individual characteristics. Also training people who have high self-acceptance, less concern for others' opinions should be a priority for families and the education system, because the cultivation of these features, provide a groundwork for the formation of high self-esteem and the emergence of divergent thinking that ensures creative behaviors. The present study aimed at examining the association of religious identity and attribution factors with self-esteem for English language learners. The study adopted a quantitatively dominant sequential mixed-methods research. A sample of 45 students majoring in English language and a pool of 20 experts in psychology and language from different Universities participated in the qualitative phase of the study based on data saturation method. The data collection procedure in the qualitative methods included semi-structured interview method. The qualitative phase of the study, after determining the inter-rater reliability of the data yielded 14 common codes. Moreover, a sample of 163 students majoring in English language from different Universities participated in the quantitative phase of the study based on availability sampling. The data were collected by means of the newly-developed religious identity questionnaire, attribution questionnaire, and self-esteem questionnaire. To develop and validate the questionnaire of religious identity, the researchers employed Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling by means of SPSS Version 22 and Amos 20. Cronbach Alpha estimated the internal consistency of the whole items including 34 items as 0.82. The validated questionnaire composed of four factors including Ideal Religious Identity, Real Religious Identity, Ought to Religious Identity and Feared Religious Identity. Following this, the results of Pearson Correlation Coefficient confirmed that the relationship between religious identity and attributions with self-esteem was significantly positive and large for EFL learners. Religious values act as assistance for learners to exert more effort in the face of possible failure and indeed, small success increases self-esteem. Manuscript profile

The aim of this study was to explain the causal relationship between fear of negative evaluation, self-esteem instability and positive perfectionism and academic self-handicapping. This was a correlational study. For this purpose, 331 students of Andimeshk Islamic Azad University were selected by stratified random sampling method. The participants completed the Self-Handicapping Scale (Jones & Rvdvlt, 1982), Positive Perfectionism Questionnaire (Terry-Short et al, 1995), brief form of the Fear of Negative Evaluation (Leary, 1989) and Self-Esteem Instability (Howard, 2017). The model was evaluated using path analysis and with the help of Amos software. The results indicated that the proposed model had acceptable fit with regard to the indices obtained. In this model, the fear of negative evaluation, self-esteem instability and positive perfectionism have a significant direct effect on academic self-handicapping. In addition, the indirect effect of fear of negative evaluation and self-esteem instability on academic self-handicapping through the positive perfectionism was also significant (p < 0.05). Based on the above results, encouraging and orienting the goal of positive perfectionism in students can reduce the incidence of academic procrastination in them. Manuscript profile

The present study examines direct and indirect effects of religiosity on health. The health variable is considered in four dimensions of physical, mental, social and spiritual and the indirect effect of religiosity on health is examined through social support and self-esteem. To explain the relationship between variables the theories of Durkheim, Allport, Wilkinson, Pargamnt, and cooper smith have been used. The research method is survey and the data collected through a questionnaire.400 students were selected as the sample of the study using Cochran formula. In order to test the hypotheses Pearson correlation, regression analysis and path analysis were used. The results of Pearson correlation show that there is 99 percent significant correlation between religiosity, social support and self-esteem and overall health. In addition the results of multivariate regression analysis reveal that these independent variables explain 15.1% of variance of general health, 9.4% of variance of physical health, 23.2% of variance of mental health, 12.7% of variance of social health and 40.2% of variance of spiritual health. Furthermore the results of path analysis indicate that religiosity doesn't have significant effect on general and social health. The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of self-efficacy and academic self-regulation in the relationship between self-esteem and happiness. The statistical population of the study included undergraduate students of Fars Farhangian University (4803 students) who were studying in the first semester of the 98-97 academic year. Among them, 358 students were selected by one-stage cluster sampling. Subsequently, they completed four valid scales including Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, Sherer General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Cooper Smith Self-Esteem Scale, and the Magno Educational Self-Regulation Scale to assess the variables. The validity and reliability of all the scales were confirmed. Also, Path Analysis with SEQ was run as the statistical technique for analyzing the data. The results show that the proposed model's fitness to observations was desirable. Additionally, happiness was predicted directly by self-esteem (p < 0.03), self-efficacy (p < 0.01) and academic self-regulation (p < 0.001). Moreover, self-efficacy and academic self-regulation had a stronger significant mediating role between self-esteem and happiness (P=0.03). The direct path of self-esteem to self-efficacy (p < 0.001) and self-esteem to academic self-regulation (p < 0.001) were also significant. It means that not only does self-esteem predict happiness, but also it can be predicted strongly by self-efficacy and academic self-regulation. From the pre-modern times to the present day, there have been major changes in the meaning of body, ideal body and aesthetic interventions in the body. As the body and its related standards become valuable, people's self-concept is increasingly tied to it and the people's social status, identity and prestige are defined by their physical qualities. Therefore, due to the importance of the above mentioned relationship, this study was conducted with a survey method to assess the relationship between different dimensions of self-concept and weight control dimension of body management among female students of the Tabriz Azad University in 2018-2019. The present study is a quantitative, cross-sectional study and it was conducted by using a questionnaire tool. The sample includes 384 students using Cochran formula. The results of the research show that a large number of the sample population (% 63.3) has a great tendency to control their weight to prevent overweight. Also, there was a significant inverse correlation between body satisfaction and BMI. It means that as body mass index (BMI) increases, body satisfaction decreases. Also, students' self-esteem decreases with the assumption of obesity, and a significant inverse correlation was seen between self-esteem affected by obesity and the amount of weight controlling activities. They indicate that the students give much more value (mean=74.75) to aesthetic body care. Manuscript profile

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is an approach that tries to enable the individuals to make major changes to their behaviors in order to achieve their objectives. The present study strived to determine the degree to which (NLP) influenced Iranian EFL learners’ language proficiency and self-efficacy. To this end, first, the researchers non-randomly selected 50 intermediate-level male EFL learners from among the learners of two intact classrooms of a private language institute in Rasht (Iran) as the participants based on their results on a placement test. Second, they randomly appointed one of these classes as the NLP group and the other class as the control group. Third, they administered Fowler and Coe’s (1976) Nelson English Language Proficiency Test, and Wang, Kim, Bai, and Hu’s (2014) Self-Efficacy Questionnaire to the NLP group and the control group as the pretests prior to the onset of the treatment of the study. Fourth, they provided the NLP group with NLP treatment in 10 sessions during a 5-week period. Notwithstanding, the control group did not receive the above-mentioned NLP treatment. Finally, subsequent to the end of the treatment sessions, the researchers administered the above-mentioned proficiency test and self-efficacy questionnaire to the participants the posttests. SPSS 24 was used to perform the data analysis of the present study. The result of the study highlighted the fact that NLP significantly ameliorated the participants’ language proficiency and self-efficacy. The results may provide EFL teacher educators, syllabus designers, and teachers with guiding principles regarding NLP in foreign language contexts. Manuscript profile

An equal number of male and female participants (180 boys and girls) were asked to complete the Farsi version of the Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale (FPANPS) and the CooperSmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI). Results revealed that positive perfectionism and self-esteem were positively correlated whereas the correlation between negative perfectionism and self-esteem was found to be negative. It is concluded here that positive perfectionism increases the level of selfesteem through the enhancement of self competence and self-acceptance whereas negative perfectionism decreases the level of self-esteem through reducing self-competence and self-acceptance, as well as developing or intensifying psychological disorders such as depression, anxiety and personality or interpersonal problems Manuscript profile

The goal of this research was to investigate psychometric properties of Rosenberg’s self-esteem scale (RSES). 185 college students completed the 10-item RSES, two subscales of the SCL-90-R (anxiety and depression), and Cooper Smith’s self-esteem inventory (SEI). The reliability of the RSES was estimated using Cronbach’s alpha (0.69), test-retest (0.78), and SpearmanBrown’s split half (0.68) formulas. The concurrent validity of Rosenberg’s self-esteem questionnaire was estimated by SEI and the two subscales of anxiety and depression. There was a significant positive correlation between the RSES and the SEI (r = +0.61) and a significant negative correlation between RSES and anxiety (r = -0.43) and depression (r = -0.54). The reliability and validity of the Persian version of RSES was moderate and suggested that the factor structure of this test should be investigated. Manuscript profile

The Terror Management (Greenberg, Pyszczynski, & Solomon, 1986) and Emotional-Processing Mind (Longs, 2004) theoories suggest that the threat of death is the most fundamental and important source of adaptive and maladaptive psychological structures like high and low self-esteem. The present research examined the effect of Mortality Salience (MS; Rosenblatt et al., 1989) on self-esteem. A sample of 91 female and 128 male students of TehranUniversity were randomly assigned to an experimental and a control group. The experimental group answered the two questions about MS topic and the control group answered the two questions about Non Mortality Salience topic (Pyszczynski et al., 1999). Then both groups filled out Rosenberg's Self-Esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1965). Findings revealed that the self-esteem of experimental group was significantly higher than control group (P=0.03). Results are discussed based on the role of death in the psychological structure of the individual. Manuscript profile

The sample consisted of 327 undergraduate students (148 males ,179 females) of Shahid Chamran University located in Ahvaz. The participants were selected using multi-stage cluster sampling. The participants completed the Big Five Factor Personality Scale (FFPS; Goldberg, 1999), the Self-Esteem Scale (SES; Rosenberg, 1965) and the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS; Ryff, 1989). The results indicated that the traits of extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness (P<0.01) and conscientiousness (P<0.001) had direct and positive effects on the psychological well-being, and the trait of neuroticism (P<0.001) had direct and negative effect on the psychological well-being. The big five factor personality indirectly related to more psychological well-being through self-esteem. The findings suggest that self-esteem play a mediatory role between big five factor personality and psychological well-being. These findingss emphasize the importance of big five personality traits in promoting self-esteem which in turn increases students’ psychological well-being. Manuscript profile

This study compared self-consistency and self-affirmation theory with the aim of changing attitude toward a favorite individual in the context of 2×2×2 design. A sample of 120 male students of Shahid Beheshti University participated in this study. Using the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) participants were divided into two groups of low and high self-esteem. Next based on the Role Playing Paradigm (Nail et al., 2001) a scenario was read to the participants in which during a momentous meeting a person favorite to the participants rejected the request of a ten year old child who asked for his/her autograph. Half of the participants received a good explanation for this behavior (sufficient justification) while the rest received a poor explanation (insufficient justification). In order to determine two conditions of self-focus and non self-focus (third independent variable) half of the participants under both conditions (i. e., sufficient and insufficient justification) answered the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale before and after the scenario was read to them. Consistent with the self-consistency theory, findings revealed that in both conditions of sufficient and insufficient justification the popularity of the individual decreased more among the participants with high self-esteem. The role of self-esteem, self-focus in dissonance processes, the source of dissonance (one's own behavior or another's) and the paradigm in which dissonance occurs are discussed. Manuscript profile

The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between attachment and adjustment with the mediating role of self-esteem. Our research method was correlational research based on path analysis method. The statistical population were consisted of 225 students of Shiraz high schools (102 female and 123 male) that were chosen by multistage sampling. The means were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Armesden & Greenberg, 1987), Bell Adjustment Inventory (1961) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (1965). For data analysis we used path analysis. The results showed that attachment to mother and peer effectively predict self-esteem. Attachment to mother directly predicted subscales of home and social adjustment. Also, attachment to father could directly predict the affectional adjustment as well as home adjustment, and Peer attachment predicted directly the social adjustment. Furthermore, self-esteem had significant relationships with other dimensions of adjustment. Other findings revealed the mediating role of self-esteem on the relationship between attachment style and psychological adjustment. So, it can be concluded that attachments style and self-esteem, are two important components in prediction of adjustment in adolescents. Manuscript profile

This study aimed to examine the mediating role of fear of negative evaluation in the relationship between self-handicapping and instability of self-esteem. The sample consisted of 150 eighth grade girl students (mean age=14years) in 2015-2016 academic year. The participants completed the short version of the Fear of Negative Evaluation (FNES-B; Leary, 1983), the Self-Handicapping Scale (Jones & Rvdvlt, 1982) and the Unstable Self-esteem Scale (Chabrol, Rocio, & Callahan, 2006). The data were analyzed using regression method. The results indicated that self-esteem could predict both aspects of self-handicapping. The results supported the mediating role of fear of negative evaluation in the relationship between self-handicapping and self-esteem instability. The findings suggested that the unstable self-esteem, partly had an effect on self-handicapping through fear of negative evaluations. As a result, stability of self-esteem can be enhanced by addressing the fear of negative evaluation in adolescents. Manuscript profile

The two groups were interviewed in a semi-structured interview and, after writing these interviews, open codes, classes and themes were extracted using qualitative content analysis method. Finally, in order to measure the Data strength, their content validity was calculated by Delphi method and CVR rate was obtained for each class. The results showed that the factors affecting children's self-esteem fall into three themes: Self-inheritance, relationship inheritance and system inheritance. Self-inheritance refers to personality and temperament factors, relationship means the dimensions of the child's parental relationship, and the system refers to environmental factors that include the child's system. All classes of these three themes, except for the class of accompanying disorders, in the theme of self-inheritance, were able to obtain at least the Minimum content validity. In today's society, between one-second and one-third of adolescents have problems with self-esteem, especially in their early teens. Since self-esteem affects academic achievement from elementary school to the end of the academic year, there is considerable evidence that there is a relationship between low self-esteem and depression, academic decline, and even disruptive school membership. They found that high self-esteem with academic achievement and job success on the one hand and the relationship between low self-esteem with academic failure, depression, anxiety, violence, and drug abuse on the other hand confirmed that having an Iranian-standard questionnaire was necessary. In this study, psychometric properties (reliability and validity) of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Questionnaire were investigated. A sample group of three districts of education 2, 4 and 21 with a sample size of 300 were selected through multi-stage cluster sampling from boys' high schools in Tehran. Students responded to the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions that assessed the overall factor of feeling valued. Sampling adequacy index was 0.83 and determinant = 0.001, respectively. Our results showed that the Rosenberg self-esteem questionnaire included two factors of positive self-esteem and negative self-esteem. 47% of self-esteem is explained by these two factors. AbstractAbstract The purpose of the research is to validate the Cooper Body Shape Questionnaire and the relationship between body dissatisfaction and self-esteem of teenage girls in Tehran. The research method is correlational in terms of practical purpose and implementation method. The statistical population is adolescent girls aged 12 to 18 in Tehran in regions 2 and 6, and 400 girls were selected by random cluster sampling. These people responded to Cooper's body shape questionnaire (1987) and Rosenberg's self-esteem questionnaire (1965). The data were analyzed by statistical methods including Cronbach's alpha, exploratory factor analysis and correlation. The results show that the body shape questionnaire in teenage girls of Tehran has a good validity. Exploratory factor analysis method was used to investigate construct validity and the results showed that the body shape questionnaire consisted of 5 factors (perceived concern about obesity, recognition and self-awareness of body shape, consequences of body dissatisfaction, body shape change and emotional attitude towards shape body) is saturated, and the factor loadings of the questions on the related factors were higher than 0.4, which shows the validity of the construct. and considering that the correlation coefficient between the body shape components and self-esteem is appropriate at the significance level of 0.05, the concurrent validity of the body shape questionnaire was confirmed. Finally, the results show that there is a significant correlation between body dissatisfaction and self-esteem. According to the validity and reliability of the body shape questionnaire in teenage girls, it is recommended that the body shape questionnaire be conducted by dear counselors in girls' schools to identify their body shape problems, to help improve their mental health by teaching effective techniques to increase their self-esteem. The nature of systematic scleroderma is very threatening and debilitating and affects mental health, including the destruction of self-esteem in the patient. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of integrated psychotherapy with the orientation of four common factors on self-esteem and its four components (general, social, familial, and occupational or educational) in women with scleroderma. Therefore, in a Semi-experimental research was carried out with pretest design, post-test with control group and follow-up after 3 months of intervention. The statistical population included women with scleroderma referred to Shariati Hospital and Iran's Rheumatism Center in 2016. Of these, 30 patients were selected as available samples and randomly were placed in two control and treatment (experiment) groups, each of which consisted of 15 individuals. The instrument of this research was Cooper Smith's (1967) Self-esteem Questionnaire. The results of repeated measures analysis of variance showed that integrated psychotherapy with the orientation of four common factors, self-esteem and all its components increased in women with scleroderma, and this effect was lasting after three months. Therefore, integrated therapy with four commonality orientations (relationship, hope enhancing, awareness promotion and behavior regulation) is considered as an effective intervention in patients with scleroderma.
