Abstract :

The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group reality therapy based on the theory of choice on self-esteem and quality of life of Female married teachers in Sari. The research method was semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design and control group. The population of the present study  included 150 female married teachers who were teaching at the elementary level.120 of them were selected by cluster random sampling and responded to Crocklop's standard quality of life questionnaire and quality of life questionnaire (World Health Organization). In addition, the questionnaire was cut after the initial screening of 30 teachers who had self-esteem and quality of life. The subjects were randomly selected and put in two groups of experimantal and control , each including 15 subjectsThe experimental group received real-life therapy for 8 sessions of 90 minutes and the control group received no intervention. For analysis of data, multivariate covariance analysis (MANCOVA) was used. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the mean scores of the two groups’ post-test scores on  self-worth and quality of life (P <0.01). This means that group-based reality based on selection theory has led to an increase in the self-worth and quality of life of married female teachers.
