The purpose of the study was to investigate the predicting role of self-efficacy and social support in addiction admission among university students. In terms of purpose, this study was a basic research; and in terms of data collection, it was an ex post facto descriptive research. Using multistage cluster sampling method, 296 (153 female and 147 male) students were selected from University of Tehran and they were asked to complete Perceived Multidimensional Social Support (Zimet et al., 1980), Self-Efficacy Scale (Schwarzer & Jerusalem, 1995), and Addiction Admission Scale (Weed et al., 1992). Results of stepwise regression analysis showed that total social support and self-efficacy can equally explain four percent of variance in addiction admission (p=0/003). In addition, among social support subscales, family support can explain six percent of variance in addiction admission (p=0/006). However, friend and significant others components did not have a significant role in the prediction. Therefore, focusing on family-oriented and individual-based approaches in addiction prevention may be more advantageous as compared to community-based approaches. Manuscript profile

The population of the study consisted of second high school female students of Qom city in 2018-2019. The sample size was 375 subjects who were calculated by Cochran formula and selected by available sampling method. Questionnaires of Crucial Relationships (1990), Zuckerman Emotion Seekers (1978), Zimet`s Social Support (1988), and Argyle Happiness (1987) were used as research tools. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data. The results showed that among the components of excitement, adventure components with significance level = 0.001, experimentation with significance level = 0.015, diversity seeking with significance level = 0.001 and avoidance of inhibition with significance level Management = 0.001, social support with family components with significance level = 0.001 and important people with significance level = 0.001 and happiness with self-esteem component with significance level = 0.001 They can predict the desire to establish a relationship. According to the research findings, it can be concluded that excitement and happiness have a positive and significant relationship with the desire to establish a relationship and the family component of the social support variable is inversely related. As a result, the more excitement and happiness you have, the more you want to start a relationship, and the less support you have for your family, the more you want to start a relationship. The aim of the current research is to test the causal model of public health based on trust in God and social support with the mediation of personality traits in women. The research method of this study is structural equation correlation. The studied population included all female heads of families covered by Izeh city between May and July 1401 in the number of 1300 cases. 230 female heads of the family were selected based on JPower software as a purposeful sampling. To collect data, Beck and McDonald (2004) Trust in God questionnaires, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (1988), McCree and Costa (1989) five-factor personality scale, and Goldberg's General Health (1972) were used. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (path analysis). The analysis results confirmed the fit of the hypothetical research model. Path analysis coefficients showed that trust in God and social support have a direct effect on public health. Among the personality traits: neuroticism has a negative effect on public health, and extroversion, adaptability, responsibility, and empiricism have a direct and significant effect on public health. Also, trust in God and social support through personality traits have an indirect effect on general health. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between quality of life and mental health in high school students. This quantitative correlational research used the questionnaire tool on the rural high school student community in Dehloran city in the school year 2017-2018.The statistical population consisted of 1176 students and, based on Morgan’s table, the sample size was 308.Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were determined through preliminary distribution of a number of questionnaires (25)and by employment of Cronbach’s alpha test. Statistical tests (Pearson correlation, independent t-test, and regression) were used to examine research hypotheses. Moreover, the employed questionnaire was a combination of Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire (1978) and the Quality of Life scale by Williams and Batten (1981). Results showed that the students had a high quality of life and an average level of mental health. There was a significant correlation between quality of life and mental health (correlation coefficient r=0.70, and p≤0.05).Regression results indicated that the independent variable (quality of life) could explain 49% of the variation in the dependent variable (mental health). Given the substantial effect that quality of life has on students’ mental health, the first step that the Ministry of Education should take is to concentrate on improving the quality of life of high school students through teaching them life skills. The health variable is considered in four dimensions of physical, mental, social and spiritual and the indirect effect of religiosity on health is examined through social support and self-esteem. To explain the relationship between variables the theories of Durkheim, Allport, Wilkinson, Pargamnt, and cooper smith have been used. The research method is survey and the data collected through a questionnaire.400 students were selected as the sample of the study using Cochran formula. In order to test the hypotheses Pearson correlation, regression analysis and path analysis were used. The results of Pearson correlation show that there is 99 percent significant correlation between religiosity, social support and self-esteem and overall health. In addition the results of multivariate regression analysis reveal that these independent variables explain 15.1% of variance of general health, 9.4% of variance of physical health, 23.2% of variance of mental health, 12.7% of variance of social health and 40.2% of variance of spiritual health. Furthermore the results of path analysis indicate that religiosity doesn't have significant effect on general and social health. Religiosity has also indirect significant effect on these dimensions. These findings confirm the implications Manuscript profile

Social support as a relevant and effective variable on academic performance has been investigated in many studies, and the different and sometimes contradictory results of these studies highlight the necessity of a meta-analytical study. This study aimed to combine the findings of 12 years of Iranian and international investigations which had studied the relationship between social support and academic performance. The statistical population included Iranian and internationally published and available studies related to the subject from 2009-2021. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 55 studies and 101 effect sizes were selected. Finally, after sensitivity analysis and removal of extreme effect sizes, 79 effect sizes were analyzed. The results showed that the combined effect size was 0.189 for the fixed model and 0.220 for the random model. In this study, gender and age were studied as qualitative and quantitative moderator variables, respectively. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the effect sizes of the relationship between social support and academic performance based on gender. The meta-regression results also showed that by increasing the age mean, the effect size decreases to a very small significant amount and a small part of the total heterogeneity is explained by the age mean of the initial studies. As a result, based on obtained effect size, social support is effective in increasing students' academic performance. Manuscript profile

The study deals with the effect of perceived social support on personal and social adjustment of orthopedically and visually handicapped students. The statistical population was 180 girls and192 boys high -school students, out of which the sample size of 372 were 5andomaly selected (182orthopaedically &190 visually handicapped). Two standard questionnaires is namely Sarason et.al on social support, and California test of personality Thorp et.al on adjustment (personal & social) were used. A two- by- two factorial design was used. The ANOVA results showed a significant difference between orthopedically and visually handicapped. Regarding handicapped students personal and social adjustment, high and low perceived social support was indicated. The results have also been discussed in light of other investigations. INTRODUCTION In a rapidly changing world of today, each change makes new demands on individual’s ability to adjust and encounter with the complex task of adjustment. The well-adjusted individual is one who can cope up successfully and effectively with personal and situational demands (Worchel and Goethals, 1985). Since sources of frustration are many and diversified, one basic source, which lies within most of the individuals, is their personal disability. Evidences indicate that all psychological affects of disabilities are negative, disruptive, annoying, agonizing, and dissatisfying (Shontz, 1970). In spite of great attention which recently is being given to the handicapped, the bulk of their problems is still unsolved. Although persons with disabilities suffer from a variety of problems, their adjustment can be facilitated if some attention is paid to their personality factors and environment, which significantly contribute to the their adjustment. An important factor related to the family relationship and environment is the social support an individual gets in the process of making adjustment. Having social support seems to benefit people’s health (Berkman, 1986).According to Juntunen and Atkinson, (2002) a stable well-functioning social support network contributes to an individual’s sense of safety, coherence, stability, and meaning in life thereby, facilitating his adjustment Need is therefore, imperative to understand various concepts involved in the study such as adjustment, perceived social support and handicap. METHOD AND PROCEDURE The total sample consisted of 372 handicapped subjects. Out of these, 182 belong to orthopaedically and 190 to the visually handicapped girls and boys. All the subjects studying in various grades I-IV in the schools. The present study was advanced by employing a factorial design involving the two ways (2x2) analysis of variance. Firstly, the variable of type of handicap was divided into two categories of handicapped student, namely Orthopaedically and visually handicapped; subjects in each of these two groups were then divided into two groups on their perceived social support that is, high and low social support based on the top 27% and the lowest 27% criterion (Kelly, 1939). In the present study the reliability coefficients for measures of California test of personality (CTP) as well as perceived social support, were computed on 372 orthopeadically and visually handicapped student using Kuder-Richardson formula 20. Results have been placed in the table 1 below. Table 1. In order to locate the trend of differences, the F-test was followed by t-test for examining the significance of differences between two groups. Whereas the F-ratio (Table 4) due to the effect of type Handicap (OH and VH) on social adjustment was not found significant. Explanation for the present finding may lie in the more severe losses suffered by VH persons than sighted OH. This loss makes him unable to lead full, free and an independent life. His dependence seems contribute to his perception of himself as an object of pity and charity, a life deprived of human dignity and self-respect. Perhaps this is the root of greater isolation and withdrawal tendencies and thus a more severe feeling of not being at ease with oneself of visually handicapped persons (Rogow, 1972) when compared with orthopaedically handicapped. Moreover there is not much difference between social adjustment of VH and sighted including the OH. F-values equal to 4.10 and 47.68 (Tables 2 and 4) due to effect of perceived social support (HSS and LSS) on personal and social adjustment was found to be significant. . An examination of their means (Tables 3 and 5) suggest that students in group with high degree of perceived social support (HSS) scored higher (M=51.07 and M=50.75) than group with low perceived social support (M=46.18and M=44.17) on personal and social adjustment respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that perceived social support emerges as an important factor of adjustment. The interactional effect of type of handicap and perceived social support both on personal (F=0.89) and social (F=2.98) as shown in (tables 2 and 4) were found to be non significant. Being a handicapped person, one suffers many losses; starting from physical disorder losses may end to through a feeling of self-pity, loss of self-worth or self-reliance. However, appropriate social support promotes hope, provides guidance, recovers a sense of self-monitors the adequacy of one’s functioning, ensures adequate rest, and enable the handicapped to enjoy stability of mood. Therefore, overall adjustment to particular stressful events is embedded in social ties. The present study aimed at investigating social factors related to the health of citizens at the age of thirty and older in Mashhad. The ideas of Parsons, Keas, network theory, Putnam, Kawachi and Berkman, Hans, Korkila, McIntosh and Spilka were used as the theoretical framework. This was a survey research and 384 participants were selected via a multi-stage cluster sampling method. A questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The findings indicated that the level of the citizens’ health was moderately high and the highest mean value was related to the physical dimension. Also, there was a direct and significant relationship between social capital, life satisfaction, social support and religiosity with health and there was, as well, a significant negative relationship between social isolation and health variables. Regression model analysis revealed that the examined variables explained about 51/0 of the variations in health. Finally, the results of path analysis indicated that social capital had the most direct effect, while religiosity had the most indirect effect, and life satisfaction had the biggest share in explaining health. The Covid 19 pandemic has had many economic and social consequences, but the lower groups tended to suffer the most in terms of class, gender, ethnicity and race. This study attempts to show the different aspects of the impact of the Corona crisis on women's quality of life. The hypothetical basis of the research is the theoretical literature on quality of life, social support, gender inequality and role system. The research hypotheses were tested using standard questionnaires of quality of life, Enrich's marital satisfaction, Phillips social support, and a researcher-made questionnaire on role weighting and social distance. The research data were collected by survey method and an electronic questionnaire available with the participation of 397 married women in Tehran and analyzed by Spss and Amos software. The results show that the Corona epidemic does not change the lives of men and women in the same way, and women are usually more vulnerable to the consequences of the virus. Women have the opportunity to enjoy a higher quality of life in the face of Corona through factors such as benefiting from the social support network, marital satisfaction, and presence in virtual social networks, despite the stress and pressure caused by the role. The sample consisted of 570 students (292 females, 278 males; Mean age =16.85).The participants completed the Children and Adolescence Social Support Questionnaire (Tahmasian, 2005) and the Penn-State Worry Questionnaire (Meyer et al. 1990). Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and regression. The results indicated that the relationship between social support and worry was significantly negative in both sexes as well as across different grades As social support increases, worry decreases and by decreasing social support, worry increases. Also, social support accounted for 14% of the variance in worry. These findings suggest that the social support can be a protective factor against worry in adolescence. For this purpose, 511 third-year students from Hamedan high schools (256 males and 255 females) were selected by multistage random cluster sampling. The participants completed the Perceived Social Support Scale) Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet & Farley, 1988), The Developmental Assets Profile (Search Institute, 2005) and Ryff’s Psychological Well-being Scale (1989). Data were analyzed using structural equation modelling. The hypothesized model showed good fit in research population. The results showed that the mediating role of developmental assets in the relationship of perceived social support and psychological well-being is significant and positive, and the proposed model explains 57 percent of the variance of psychological well-being among students. Based on the findings of this study, it was found that the effect of perceived social support on psychological well-being is more indirect than direct, and is through developmental assets. The aim of this study was to identify and understand the social needs of caregivers of cancer patients in order to provide the necessary information to design educational and psychological interventions based on the needs of these caregivers. This research was conducted in a qualitative manner using the facet theory approach in 1399. Participants are caregivers of cancer patients in Tehran. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 21 caregivers and using theoretical and Purposeful sampling to achieve information saturation. Based on the coding of the texts of the interviews and observations, their needs and classifications were extracted. The social support needs identified can be classified into three categories: emotional, instrumental, and information. The sub-categories extracted from these results are: "Need for specialized centers and support organizations","Need for job support"," Need to connect with the community "and" need for medical information and mental health ". The social consequences of cancer are significant for the caregiver. In terms of the need to connect with the community, it seems that separating the caregiver from the community is serious and even after completing the care period, it is difficult for the caregiver to return to the community. Educating people in the community is useful for better understanding caring conditions. Having medical information and mental health helps the caregiver to create a sense of control, so it is necessary to create awareness among health care professionals, and finally job support was identified as one of the important factors to meet the caregiver's tool needs. The aim of this study was to investigate the factor validity and reliability of the Perceived Social Support Questionnaire and its relationship with the quality of life of nurses. This questionnaire was developed by Zemit et al. (2008). For this purpose, 355 male and female nurses were randomly selected from public hospitals in Tehran. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used to evaluate the reliability of the questionnaire and exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to determine its factor validity. Consistent with the results of Zamit et al.'s (2008) study, the present study showed that this questionnaire has acceptable internal consistency and Cronbach's alpha coefficients in its subscales are between 0.79 and 0.90. Also, the results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis confirm that the structure of the questionnaire has an acceptable fit with the data and all goodness indicators of the fit confirm the model. The results also showed that the components of friends, family and society have a positive and significant relationship with quality of life and its dimensions. Physical and mental health and quality of life in general had a positive and significant relationship with all dimensions of perceived social support (P <0.05). Therefore, this questionnaire can be a good tool to assess the perceived social support of nurses and ultimately the perceived social support has an impact on the quality of life of nurses. Conceptually, suicide-related behavior can be explained to include a continuum of suicidal ideas or suicidal thoughts, to suicidal planning and, ultimately, Suicidal attempt and death by suicide. Suicide-related death is a mental health problem in many countries. Suicidal thoughts and behavior are caused by the interaction of various factors and in this respect; many theories have been built to better understand the development of thought and suicidal behavior. The purpose of the present study was to compare the dissociative experience, self-compassion, and perceived social support in suicidal and normal individuals. For this purpose, in a comparative study, 30 suicidal individuals were matched with 30 normal individuals without suicidal ideation in terms of age, gender, and marital status and after evaluating dissociative experience, self-compassion, and perceived social support, they were compared. Results of multivariate analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference between the two groups of suicidal and normal individuals in terms of components of self-compassion, perceived social support and dissociative experience. Thus, it can be argued that higher dissociative experience, lower self-compassion and lower perceived social support may contribute to suicidal behavior. Manuscript profile
