Relations between Iran and China have a long history. Their first communication took place through the old silk road, and today, with the new silk road plan by China and the 25-year comprehensive strategic cooperation document, the relations between the two countries have expanded to the level of strategic partnership. China has signed cooperation documents with many countries to implement the Belt and Road Initiative. Iran has also received special attention from Beijing due to its special geopolitical situation. Therefore, on April 7, 1400, a 25-year comprehensive strategic cooperation document was signed between the foreign ministers of Iran and China, which is supposed to be a road map for the future cooperation of the parties. The current research is an attempt to answer the question, what economic goals are pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran and China through the 25-year comprehensive strategic cooperation document? The proposed hypothesis is that China's main goal in the aforementioned agreement is to diversify energy sources and ensure its security. On the other hand, the most important goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to get rid of the economic blockade by increasing trade exchanges with China under the conditions of economic sanctions. The method of the present research is descriptive-analytical and information gathering is also done by using written sources including books, articles, documents and internet data Manuscript profile

The understanding of diversity and relation between biological individuals are the first issue of environments observations. This leads to offer evolutionary theories for explaining those facts since ancient till now. The cooperation between individuals with their environments was the basic idea of explanations in the history before Darwinian approaches. But Darwin offered his idea on base of a political economic theory which emphasis on competition between agents in economical activities. So the competition between biological entities is the foundation of Darwinian idea and any cooperation between entities in his approach explain away by consideration a competition between next level entities. On the other hand, there was not a well form and sound heredity theory in his time too. That’s why the Darwinian evolutionary theory faced some problems for explanation of some biological facts as same as others. Both of the cooperation and competition approaches alone could not explain the biological facts completely and coherently. It looks that while the basic relation between any biological individuals are cooperation with their environments, there are some race between almost same individuals for cooperation with their environments too. The objective of this research is to politically assess the strategic approach and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran concerning the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The research method is descriptive-analytical, and the findings indicate that the mutual interests of Iran and the two major powers within the SCO, Russia, and China, in preventing American influence in Southwest Asia, particularly Central Asia, have brought them closer together within the framework of bilateral relations and also within the SCO. To counter American hegemony at the regional level and ensure its national interests against the security threats posed by the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran has taken steps towards permanent membership in the SCO. Permanent membership in the SCO has provided structural opportunities for Iran, which, on one hand, can create a balance against American hegemony in the region with the support of the powers within this structure, and on the other hand, enhances Iran's political and security status in Central Asian equations and Middle Eastern developments. Therefore, with the aforementioned high capacities in the Middle East region, Iran has the necessary strategic capability to become a regional power. Manuscript profile

Prejudice and ignorance towards the rules of Islam, the rules of Islamic law and the history of Islam, until recently, led Western writers to the conclusion that respect for the human person is a product of Western thinking. But Islam, like other religions, has its share in this respect for man and defense of his rights. On the other hand, international governmental and international non-governmental organizations have also participated in the promotion of human rights. Among the recent organizations is the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The Organization of the Islamic Conference, as the second international intergovernmental organization after the United Nations, with 57 member countries in four continents of the world, relying on Islamic identity and civilization, is a political-religious force that cannot be ignored in the international scene, which can play a role today. to play a significant role in consolidating international peace and security, and this importance has been brought to the fore with the establishment of the Islamic Court of Justice. The study tries to shed light on the cooperation of people in Khorasan with Arabs in military missions in an analytic and descriptive way. In the beginning, Arabs were not optimistic about the employment of Iranians in the armed forces. However, they gradually realized that they could get to their goals better if they sought their cooperation. Military officers like Ghotibe ibn Moslem were more successful because they employed natives. Even after his being killed, Iranians kept their important status in the military. The beginning of Abbasid movement also witnessed an emphasis on employing natives in the army. This contributed to their success in winning over Ummayids. Manuscript profile

The challenges arising from this epistemological methodology and the resulting global environmental dilemmas have raised fundamental questions about such selfish civilizational behavior and unbridled industrial growth. Focusing on global cooperation, peace, the role of nongovernmental actors, international law, institutionalism and international regimes are among the positive points of liberal theories in the face of global environmental problems. The research method is secondary analysis and the available data of the good governance of the World Bank and the Legatum prosperity index have been used. The statistical population of the study includes the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (41 countries) and members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (29 countries). SPSS software and Pearson correlation and regression tests were used to analyze the data. Findings indicate that among the countries of Islamic cooperation and economic cooperation and development, there is a significant direct correlation between good governance and national welfare; Thus, the intensity of solidarity in the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is higher than that of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Also, after controlling the alignment between the six dimensions of good governance, among the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, it was proved that the dimensions of corruption control and the quality of laws and regulations have a significant direct impact on national welfare so that these two variables have been able to explain 90% of the changes in national welfare. But among the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, only the dimension of efficiency and effectiveness of the government has had a significant direct impact on national welfare. Also, it was found that the efficiency and effectiveness of the government could explain 74% of the changes in national welfare. In addition, after collecting all the components of governance into a single variable called "good governance", it was proved that this variable was able to have a direct and significant impact 0.94 in the member countries of economic cooperation and development and 0.80 among the member states of Islamic cooperation Manuscript profile

At present, Iran's neighborhood with the Central Asian region is based on Iran's geographical capacity. Turkmenistan is one of the countries in the region that is important for the foreign policy apparatus based on the principle of neighborhood policy and having a common border. In this regard, the question of this article is, has Iran been successful in using the capacities of its neighborhood policy towards Turkmenistan? It seams, it should be said that despite the special features of Turkmenistan's neighborhood for Iran, Iran has not taken advantage of this opportunity as it should For reasons such as; Lack of macro strategy and clear strategy towards this country in the foreign policy apparatus, influence of regional and international actors, especially the United States Basically, one of the main conditions and principles in neighborhood policy is the satisfaction of neighbors with each other and one of its main pillars is to maintain and establish stability in relations. It also identifies all existing capabilities in the economic, political, security and cultural fields. This principle has not been very much established in the relations between the two countries, despite the expression of mutual desires and needs of the two countries. Therefore, Iran should take serious steps to increase bilateral interactions in all recognized dimensions and serious participation in regional cooperation. Manuscript profile

Researches on the strategies toward the nations of East Asia aim to evaluate the possibilities of attaining political and security interests of Islamic republic of Iran in case of increasing cooperation with these nations. Present Iranian strategies toward East are so formulated to make Iran able to neutralize the negative ramification of unilateral confrontation approaches taken by the West against Iran. So, it is tried in this article to examine how Iran could pursue its national interest within the nations of East Asia. These nations with their somewhat contrasting ideological approaches provide unfavorable conditions for Iran to formulate a coherent strategy for mutual cooperation in various areas of significant to Iran. This author believes that regionalism with an eastern approach best serves our national interest at the present time. Identity and cultural similarities’ of Islamic republic of Iran with those of these nations in East Asia provides an ample opportunity for us to pursue our security and economic objectives. Pursuing a coherent policy could provide and ensure the strategic and security necessities in the long run. Shanghai Cooperation Organization with two permanent members (Russia and China) of UN Security Council having more than one-third of the world population, vast territory and economic ability heralds a potentially powerful coalition in the future. Islamic republic of Iran with its present observation role in this organization and also the demand to become its permanent members leads to certain implications which within the framework and opportunities of membership facilitate the analysis of Iranian foreign policy. In this article, we aim to assess Iranian membership in this organization on four dimensions of Iranian politics, security, economic and culture. On this basis, we first apply theoretical explanations of the origin and continuation of Shanghai Organization. Having done this, we then study the effect of Iranian membership in this organization on dimensions of politics, security, economic and culture. Finally, the probability and improbability of Iran to become the permanent member of Shanghai Organization will be discussed and suggestions, based on our findings, will be made to the Iranian diplomatic approach. Various factors, such as energy resources, regional competition and the interest of super powers in the region have been the causes of convergence and/or divergence in the foreign policy of Persian Gulf Countries. Recently, however, a new dimension, Iran’s nuclear activities, has been added to the above referred factors creating a further confliction ground to already existing turbulent region. The purpose of this study is to show how the believe of the United States that Iran hides its real intention of opting for atomic weaponry under the pretext of atomic activity for merely energy production and peaceful use of it has pushed the region into a new security phase. Teacher-student relationship, in all educational systems is a key aspect of creating effective learning environments. Therefore, investigating the behavior of teachers in the classrooms and identifying students' understanding of teachers' behavior is one of research necessities in each educational system. For this purpose, the present study was conducted, aimed to investigate the status of interactive behavior of teachers with students in secondary schools in Gorgan. The study method was survey and all secondary school students in Gorgan and their math teachers were considered as the study population. Thus, 354 second and third grade students with their math teachers entered the study as the sample. The sampling method in the students' group was random cluster and in the teachers' group was targeted. The data collection instrument was the standard Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction. T test was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that students' understanding of behavioral style of most of math teachers in the classroom was consistent with Dominance-Submission model, but math teachers believed that no difference was found between the use of interactive styles of Dominance-Submission and Cooperation-Opposition between them and benefited equally from both styles. Also, the results showed that a significant difference was found between the images that teachers have in mind of interacting with students and the images students have in mind of interacting with their teachers, in admonishing, strict and uncertain behaviors, which the students believe are the styles mostly used by their teachers. But teachers believe that they use these styles less. Comparing the understanding of teachers and students of using the interactive behavior of teachers in both styles of Cooperation-Opposition and Dominance-Submission showed no significant difference. The purpose of this article is to investigate the effect of corruption on financial inclusion in Iran and selected member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation during the period 2005- 2020. For this purpose, three variables have been used to measure financial inclusion and three separate models were estimated. The results of model estimation using the System Generalized Method of Moments (SGMM) showed that at a significant level of 5%, lagged financial inclusion, the level of per capita GDP and education have a positive and significant effect on financial inclusion. Also, the impact of corruption on financial inclusion is negative and significant. At a significance level of 5%, the expansion of Internet users and mobile subscribers has a positive and significant effect on financial inclusion. The high share of women in the total population has a significant and negative effect on financial inclusion. Based on the results, it is suggested that policymakers reduce the level of corruption and increase financial inclusion by reducing wide monopolies, eliminating the rent, improving the quality of regulations and creating widespread transparency. Abstract: Afghanistan’s developments are important for Islamic Republic of Iran which is having long borders with that country. The September 11th events and the invasion of the United States to Afghanistan and overthrow of Taliban added to sensitivity and importance of this country. Iran and the United States had common interests in overthrowing Taliban but this periodic understanding was marred after the United States president George Bush Junior declared Iran as “Axis of Evil” in January 2002 and hostility between the two countries further increased. After Obama came into power in 2009, the possibility of military confrontation lowered. The signing of strategic treaty between the United States and Afghanistan added to Iran’s security concern and mutual concern continued and in some stages Iran was accused of helping Taliban. The withdrawal and the departure of American troops provided another opportunity for interaction with Iran. The United States after a decade of unsuccessful intervention in Afghanistan should realize that Iran is a good partner for improving the prospect of peace and stability in Afghanistan. Both the countries have common interests in many issues in Afghanistan including helping Afghan government, fighting smuggling of narcotic drugs, dealing with crisis of Afghan refugees, helping strengthening Afghan security forces and creating suitable atmosphere for national reconciliation but the tensions in relations of Iran and the United States have hindered attaining these objectives. Abstract The relations between Russia and Turkey expanded considerably from the beginning of 21th century particularly after coming into power of Justice and Development Party (AKP). Taking into consideration the expansion of relations between the two, the present paper wants to answer this question whether the expansion of economic relations between Russia and Turkey between 2002 to 2014 have led to expansion of political relations between the two? This question is based on one of the main assumption of liberalism theory i.e. economic interdependence leads to political cooperation. The underlying hypothesis of the article which is examined by a descriptive analytical method is that between 2002 to 2014 the economic relations between Turkey and Russia has had a noticeable growth and parallel to that the political relations between the two expanded but political integration has received lesser impact from political cooperation. The political integration has been influenced from variables other than economy and trade. The examination of the above hypothesis shows that in analyzing the ties between the countries one cannot rely on one theoretical approach but a collection of different approaches should be used to analyze their relations. China's expansionist policies have increased the country's need for energy resources and increased oil and gas imports from around the world, especially from the Persian Gulf. This has drawn China's attention to the two main pillars of energy supply in the Persian Gulf: Iran and Saudi Arabia. However, China-Saudi Arabia and China-Iran's energy relations have had many ups and downs and the main reason can be found in the political issues and specific issues of the region, including the special relations between this two countries with the United States. This research seeks to answer the question of how U.S. sanctions against Iran in 2009-2019 have affected China and Saudi Arabia's oil cooperation. In response to this hypothesis, an explanatory method is used to examine that U.S. sanctions against Iran, by reducing the opportunities for China-Iran's energy cooperation, have led to the expansion of China –Saudi Arabia's oil cooperation in 2009-2019. This research concludes that the U.S. sanctions system isolated the powerful Iran in the economic field and created a golden opportunity for China and Saudi Arabia to strengthen their economic relations, especially energy relations. International relation's arena is extremely effected of cultural and identity ingredients. So gain an aspect and international prestige, penetrate in public opinion and access to soft power are the important and at the same time unspecified goals is the diplomacy of countries. China's emerging power is trying to export its cultural industries and penetrate as deeply as possible in the MiddleEast in order to strengthen its soft power. The importance of this Chinese strategy can be seen in the cooperation document with Iran.At the same time, the identity and cultural opportunities contained in this agreement have the potential to expand Iran's soft power in the international system. Therefore, the purpose of this study is with descriptive-explanatory method and using library texts and available data to answer the main question, how does China's cultural exports to the Middle East and the cultural opportunities of the Iran-China Cooperation Agreement highlight the role of soft power in international relations? This hypothesis is raised in response to this question: China's investment in the distribution of identity products in the Middle East and the cultural opportunities resulting from the 25-year cooperation agreement for Iran, express the need for governments to pay attention to the concept of soft power. After China started the policy of implementing reforms in its economic structure from 1990, the economy expanded enormously and took great leap forward and the consumption of energy in different sector of the economy increased. With the increase in the need of China for energy, the question of the security of access to energy became one of the important issues of the foreign policy of this country and also in relations of China with countries in its periphery. But the expansion of China’s presence in the region is not only due to China’s dependence to the import of energy and making safe the routes of access to it. This policy of China should be regarded in a wider framework and taking into consideration its economic and political objectives. In fact the increase in the ties of China with the developing countries and the expansion of its presence in region should be interpreted in the direction of increasing its influence and position at the international level and should not be considered merely for the sake of access to energy sources. On the whole it seems that the question of supply of energy though plays an important role in shaping China’s regional and global behavior but it cannot make the foreign policy of this country dependent on this type of considerations. In present paper an attempt has been made to show that though energy is an important factor in relations of China with the countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, nevertheless it seems that energy is having more an instrumental role for furtherance of geopolitical interest of that country. For understanding the nature of China’s energy policy one should study in a wider perspective the multiple preferences of security policies and competition of this country with other countries in Shanghai Cooperation Organization region. The member countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council despite creation of an institution for regional integration and the existence of good potential for attaining the goals defined in its charter have not been able to make use of their potential capabilities within the framework of regional cooperation. Implementing economic model unsuitable with the conditions of the countries of the union in matters like monetary union and also wrong economic policies have led to non-fulfillment of their potential capacities. Non-formation of monetary union, high rate of unemployment among the countries of Persian Gulf region, shortage of capital in oil, development and transportation projects, low volume of trade among the member countries are the tangible bottleneck which the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council is facing despite years thirty years life of this organization. Therefore it seems that for achieving the goals defined in the charter of this organization within the framework of regional economic cooperation, they should first define a suitable economic model which conforms to the common conditions of the member countries. In this ideal economic model return of the capital earned from the sale of oil to oil industries and other related industries is an important necessity. The countries of Persian Gulf Cooperation Council should increase the efficiency of domestic labour force and train specialist from their own citizens of member countries and reduce the foreign labour forces. By these measures they can have dynamic future instead of simply restricting the flow of foreign labour force. Manuscript profile

Abstract Germany is having strategic relations with three countries. In a way the comprehension of the developments of its foreign policy after the Second World War is conditioned by knowing the interaction of that country with three countries, they are the United States of America, France and Israel. The factors that determine the foreign policy of Germany towards Israel consist of reducing tension from the Middle East (terrorism), establishing good relations with the Middle East countries, ensuring the security of supply of energy sources, the historical responsibility of Germany towards the Jews due to maltreatment of Jews during World War II; what is known as Holocaust, because German considered itself responsible and committed towards Jews. Along with these principal factors other factors also play role which their impact differ from time to time. They are, party affiliation of the ruling politicians, the personal political tendencies of German politicians and their orientation and who is in charge of the desk of relations with Israel. Integration and regional cooperation have increasingly become an important trend in Asia and Europe. In the West five decades of integration in Europe has led to the formation of a regional government which is having the power to take legal and political decisions that are binding on its members. In the East of Asia, the regional cooperation had been on the basis of ASEAN methods and ideas. In Europe regional integration is based on a strong institutional and legal framework. The European commission, Ministerial Council, European Parliament, Central Bank of Europe and the European Hague Court, constitute the strong institutional infrastructure of European decision making. In East Asia integration is based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and not use of violence in regional conflicts. Why Europe and East Asia have approved different pattern of regionalism? How this pattern of regional decision making can bring change in Europe and East Asia? The present article points out that different and distinct feature of the constituting countries play important role in determining the pattern of integration and cooperation in each region. Besides that, different pattern of regional cooperation has led to adopting different approaches by regional countries to face specific challenges. Manuscript profile

Shanghai Cooperation Organization with membership of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan, on September 17, 2021, agreed to Iran's membership in the organization. After a year passed since the conditional approval of Iran's membership in the Shanghai Organization, on 17 September 2022, Iran officially became a full member of this organization. The structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, with the predominance of security and political propositions, also has economic dimensions, which, if properly understood, will create opportunities for Iran in the economic and trade fields. Accordingly, an attempt has been made to examine the possibility of convergence under this organization in the form of a theoretical framework of regionalism; In this study, in response to the question "Is it possible for regional integration between the SCO countries and provide opportunities for Iran under this cooperation?", Using descriptive-analytical method and data collection, with the help of library and Internet resources and under the theoretical framework of new regionalism, it is hypothesized that "the SCO, due to the priority of security-political goals, disagreement of key members in pursuing economic goals and the weakness of structures and institutions to pursue economic programs, has minimal potential for economic integration among its members, but in case of lifting the sanctions obstacles facing Iran, it will provide opportunities for political unity and economic opportunities for the country." Abstract: Current study is aimed at evaluating the cooperation of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and its influence on security of Islamic Republic of Iran in a descriptive method. The results of study show that close cooperation of Southern Persian Gulf Countries with NATO has negative impacts on security of Islamic Republic of Iran and so limits the interests of Iran in the region. In current situations the operations of NATO in the region are challenging to national interests of Iran, and the attitude of Iran toward NATO as an organization under the direct influence of the United States, is a completely controversial one. Military presence of all high-ranking NATO members in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea and existence of their different defense treaties with Iran’s southern neighbor countries and independent common-wealth ones in North of Iran, especially with Azerbaijan, are examples of the military presence of NATO and its high-ranking members in borders of Iran. This can be considered as a threat against security of Islamic Republic of Iran. Financial and army supports of the U.S and its allies for Iraq during imposed war, supports of most of high-ranking members of NATO on Iran oppositions, their supports for territorial claims of Arab Countries on Persian Gulf Islands, unprecedented selling of modern weapons and army facilities to GCC member-states, their overuses of the human rights subject against Iran as a political means, their accusations based on Iran’s achievement to mass destruction weapons or Iran’s supports for terrorist attacks, are among negative elements of NATO attitude toward Iran. Presence in defense and security treaties of the region is among the most critical strategies of Islamic Republic of Iran to overcome new threats and to defuse enemies’ plots on ignoring Iran in regional relations. Russian and Iranian foreign policy in history has been based on alerts and news. If you look to the new era of relations between Iran and Russia, these relationships are formed around a core fundamental as “nuclear cooperation”. Nuclear cooperation between Iran and Russia began when Tehran’s top priority was reconstruction and strengthening economic and security with the purpose of compensation for damages caused by the 8 years war with Iraq. In January 1995 Moscow and Tehran have signed a contract to complete the Bushehr nuclear power planet worth $800 million. Since the Bushehr contract, Washington constantly wanted to stop this 100- megawatt light – water reactor and is concerned that this facility will help Iran’s nuclear weapons. The main question, in this research, is that what was the result of cooperation between Iran and Russia on the Bushehr nuclear project during President . Khatami and President .Ahmadinejad? And to prove it, in this study, we hypothesized that cooperation between Iran and Russia during Per. Khatami was based on political – economic purposes and during Per. Ahmadinejad the military and security aspects became the top priority than political – economic aspects. Manuscript profile

Washington-Riyadh Defense Cooperation has a long history. Relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States have two different goals. The most important goal of the Saudi government to strengthen its relationship with the United States is "security," calling for Washington to support Al Saud in Saudi Arabia and at the level of the West Asian region, but the United States continues to have a relationship with Saudi Arabia, in addition to its defense From the Zionist regime, he pursues most of the "economic" goals. This article looks at the causes of the evolution of this collaboration. The authors are trying to show that the defense cooperation between the two countries was essentially due to the formation of a patron-to-follow relationship between them in the 1940s and then to the development of this relationship in the decades to come. In fact, what we are seeing is that, with the deepening and expansion of the patronage relationship between Saudi Arabia and the United States during the period under review, military cooperation between them has seen considerable quantitative and qualitative growth so that at this time of Saudi Arabia after Israel and Pahlavi Iran became the third US military partner in the Middle East. The important question is, how does the United States play a major role for Saudi Arabia in the Middle East? The hypothesis is that the United States is not only providing weapons, military training, and building military infrastructure for Saudi Arabia, but also defining its defense strategy. As a result, the United States has played a major role in the formation and modernization of Saudi military forces. Manuscript profile

The relationship between Iran and European countries has a deeply rooted history and has constantly witnessed its ups and downs in different epochs. However, thanks to the recently signed nuclear deal and the ruling administration’s breakthroughs in resolving Iran’s complex nuclear case, one can anticipate that such mutual ties are set to boom in a wide range of areas as both sides have lots of shared interests. The present study is an attempt to elaborate on the importance of strengthening the relationship between Iran and European Union (EU) member states. It also addresses key questions in the context of the aftermath of the nuclear deal, namely what factors will govern the ties between Iran and the EU and in which direction such cooperation may steer? In which sectors is it possible to identify shared bilateral interests and common grounds and how can they be realized in a constructive and interactive atmosphere? To fathom the nature of ties between Iran and Europe, one has to initially recognize influential factors on the future of these links and then within such framework analyze such a relationship. It seems that in the new era, combined efforts in the domains of energy and energy security, economy and commerce as well as political and security issues come as the main priorities to secure stability in the region. Following the implementation of The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the framework for expanding such collaboration are explained through the use of pragmatism in international relations theory and analytical methods in this study. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the approach of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the performance of the Islamic Court of Justice in the peaceful settlement of international disputes based on the concept of "effectiveness". The Organization of the Islamic Conference has a special position as the second international intergovernmental organization after the United Nations. With 57 member countries in four continents, this institution is considered one of the current international organizations in the world, which can have a unifying position among Muslim states and nations, relying on Islamic identity and civilization, and be useful for creating peace. The idea of establishing this organization, which began in the middle of the fifth decade of the 20th century to regulate relations between Islamic countries, crystallized with the formation of the "General Islamic Conference" in 1954, and its charter was approved in 1956. Political and cultural aspects of international science and technology collaboration may be understood through exploring the concept of ‘science diplomacy’. Regardless of the mainstream conceptions of this term, it can be viewed from the perspective of dominance and resistance. From such a perspective, science diplomacy refers to attempts at exploiting scientific involvements to influence countries which deny other types of influence, on the one hand, and awareness of such attempts and resistance against them, on the other. The present study investigates aspects of such a conception of science diplomacy in national science and technology policy documents of different countries. The bulk of data in this research comprises the full text of macro science and technology plans of 34 countries in five continents. The qualitative content analysis of these documents reveals seven major themes: vague and wordy goal setting; over-focusing on science and technology import; purposeful priority setting in selecting collaborators; consideration of legal and organizational structures; cultural and political aims beyond mere science; inviting fellow national experts residing abroad; leadership in international science and technology trends; and independent priority setting in determining focal scientific areas. Awareness and consideration of these issues can bear significant messages for science and technology decision makers and administrators and may provide insights on the strengths and weaknesses of current national policies in this regard, especially in the context of growing international interactions Manuscript profile

Abstract The present study was an attempt to investigate the role of classroom tasks in accelerating reading comprehension ability in EFL students. To achieve this purpose, 102 freshwomen were considered as the subjects of the study. The subjects were randomly selected form a population of English major first year students. They were later assigned into experimental and control groups. During the course of study, the experimental group received some additional material in the form of reading tasks, while the control groups only received a placebo. Both groups were administrated three sets of tests. They were given a Key English Test (KET) as pre- and post- tests. They were also administrated a teacher made final test which was given to them at the end of the experiment. Undoubtedly, the validity and reliability of the instruments were taken into consideration. The analysis and comparison of the two groups’ scores from the instruments revealed that experimental group outperformed control group in the post-test of KET and in the final test. This led the researcher to the conclusion that such noticeable progress in the experimental group’s test score was due to the administration of reading comprehension tasks. These results provided enough evidence for the acceptance of the hypothesis formulated at the opening of the study. Manuscript profile
