Environment and natural resources as a pavement of sustainable development, is considered as a supportive factor for natural life and cultural heritage of the human society. The increasing growth of population has caused the necessity for job substitution services. Limited resources and lack of capable pattern for development have caused a lot of pressure on environment and restoring natural resources. Destruction of environment and natural resources has attracted the attention of planners and policy makers as a global problem. The trend of environmental destruction and natural resources of our own country is not an exception from this rule. Education is recognized as a profitable investment in development process, especially sustainable development and establishing changes and reforms in order to prevent the destruction of the environment and restoring natural resources. One of the important accelerating factors is public training especially educating students. This process only would take place if the training and education is compatible with the right conditions. For this purpose, this research has been delivered on high school level students of the city of Tehran to find out their knowledge and awareness about the environment and protecting it. Population of this study is about 470,000 students. This is an applied research with the Descriptive-Correlation method. A questionnaire was used to collect information and data. Data is analyzed by using SSPS software. The results obtained from Spearman Correlation coefficient between independent parameters of age, parents education, listening to the radio programs, watching the television programs, having access to forest and green spaces, studying books about environment. With the related parameter of students’ awareness about environment indicated that, there is a significant relationship between mentioned parameters. The obtained results of individual effects of independent parameters on related parameter through the tests of Keruscal-Walis and Man White Nee, indicated that the independent parameters method of acquiring information, using of magazines, participation in related activities, participation in educational classes and membership in environmental organizations, have direct effects on students’ awareness about the environment. However, the parameters of genders, educational achievement, educational field, deferent student organizations and being a member or not having a membership in students’ organizations have no effects students awareness about the environment. The obtained results of total effect of independent parameters on dependent parameter of students interest on environment through multiple regression indicated that the parameters of studying environmental books and journals have had positive effects on students awareness about environment. The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare the relationship between personality traits and mental health among female students in regular and gifted schools in 2010 in Abadeh. The population was 480 students and the research method was a descriptive survey. For this purpose, 100 students from the regular and 100 students from the gifted high school were selected by using random sampling. Personality characteristics were measured by Personality Inventory for Adolescents (Eysenck, 1990), and Goldberg Mental Health Questionnaire was used to assess the mental health. Data analysis based on multivariate analysis of variance and Pearson correlation coefficient showed that, there were significant differences between gifted and regular students in personality characteristics of neuroticism and lying (P<0.001) and significant difference appeared between mental health and all its levels except social functioning (P<0.05). The correlation coefficient between neuroticism, aggressiveness and lying with mental health was significant in the gifted students. Also the correlation coefficient between aggressiveness and lying with mental health (r= -0.4) was significant in the regular students. The present study showed that lying and neuroticism, among regular school students were more than gifted school students. Moreover, gifted students had higher mental health in the subscales of physical symptoms and depression. So, gifted students had less anxiety/worry and a better, more effective style to solve the problems of life. Manuscript profile

The statistical Population of research included 470 female students in Saveh city during the academic year of 2011-12 . By using Cochran formula and classified random sampling method, 114 students were considered as the sample size. Measuring tools were Self- Differentiation Questionnaire (DSI-R) (Skorown & Schmitt , 2003), Test Anxiety Questionnaire (Sarason, 1984), and Child and Adolescent Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SEQ-C), (Muris, 2002). Data analysis was conducted by using structural equations modeling method and with Smart PlS2 and software Lisrel 8.8 in two parts. In the first part, technical characteristics of reliability , convergent validity, and divergent validity were examined and necessary corrections were made. In the second part, the significance of coefficients of software were used to evaluate the research hypotheses . The results showed that self-differentiation have significant effect on the degree of student anxiety (P < 0.01) and also the mediating role that self-efficacy plays in the relationship between self- differentiation and student anxiety. It may be said that self- differentiation have significant effects on self-efficacy (P < 0.01) and self-efficacy on the degree of exam anxiety (P < 0.01) . Also, all the sub hypotheses that measured the effect of self- differentiation dimensions ( emotional reactions, mingling with others, personal positions and emotional faulting ) on the degree of test anxiety were confirmed (P < 0.01). The aim of this study was to predict self-efficacy of girls based on personality traits of their mothers. Method of study was correlational. The sample consisted of 351 females who were selected by random clustered sampling from high school students in Alborz province. Research instruments were the NEO Personality Inventory (MacCrae and Costa, 1985) and Self-efficacy Scale (Sherer at.al, 1982). The result showed that conscientiousness of mothers was the only predictive variable which could predict daughters&#39 self-efficacy. Regression coefficient of self-efficacy (&beta=0.226) showed a positive relationship between mothers conscientiousness with their daughters self-efficacy (P < 0.002). Also the average score of girls with regression coefficient (&beta=0.330) represented a significant and positive correlation and their self-efficacy (P < 0.0001), and maternal age with regression coefficient (&beta=-0.105) indicated a significant and negative correlation with daughters’ self- efficacy (P < 0.37). Therefore, considering the effect of both mothers’ role of responsibility and low maternal age gap with daughters on the self-efficacy of their daughters, it is necessary to increase self-efficacy of daughters by enriching the responsibility resources of mothers and encouraging mothers to have children at young age. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of parenting styles on conduct disorder (CD) mediated by emotional and cognitive empathy in junior high school students. The statistical population included all male high school students in Kermanshah in the academic in 2020-2021, which was 234 students who obtained the highest scores in the pediatric symptoms questionnaire (parent form) (Gadow & Sprafkin, 2007) and They had the most symptoms of conduct disorder, were selected as a sample group based on multi-stage cluster sampling method, and participants completed the Alabama΄s parenting styles (Frick, 1991), the Baron-Cohen empathy quotient scale (Baron-Cohen & Wheelwrigh, 2004). Structural equation modeling on LISREL software was used to answer the hypotheses. The results of data analysis showed that direct and indirect path coefficients are significant in the research model (P <0.001). According to the findings of this study, efficient and inefficient parenting styles and emotional and cognitive empathy have a direct and significant effect on conduct disorder and efficient and inefficient parenting styles also have a direct and significant effect on emotional and cognitive empathy. Also, effective parenting style (positive parenting components and father participation) and inefficient parenting style (components of authority, poor supervision and corporal punishment) mediate emotional and cognitive empathy on students' conduct disorder indirectly. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that proper communication between parent and child enables the person to achieve emotional development and increases the ability to empathy and community friendly behavior in adolescents. Using instructional games in vocabulary learning is beneficial, but their effects in the Iraqi EFL context have been overlooked. This study investigated the effects of instructional games on Iraqi primary school students’ vocabulary learning and retention. To fulfill the objectives of the study, a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design was adopted. The present study's participants were 40 Iraqi primary school students selected based on a convenience sampling. The participants were divided into two groups, one experimental (N= 20) and a control group (N=20). The students in the experimental group (EG) received vocabulary instruction in the form of game-based teaching. The control group (CG) was instructed using conventional teaching procedures. In this study, a textbook (Family and Friends 2) was used as the material, and two tests were utilized as the measurement instruments. It was found that the group of Iraqi primary school students who were instructed through the games considerably outperformed the group of students who received the traditional teaching in the classroom. Furthermore, the results revealed that the Iraqi primary school students who received vocabulary through instructional games had much better vocabulary retention than those who underwent the traditional teaching methods. The findings might have some implications for the material developers and EFL teachers in Iraq. Manuscript profile

The aim of the present research was to investigate about the comparison of misunderstanding of the third grade high school students and B.A and M.A students about the concept of electricity. The research method was descriptive survey. The population of the study was consisted of all high school students in Tehran, all students of Computer Engineering (Software Engineering), the students of Information Technology (B.A) and the students of solid-state physics (M.A) in Tehran Payame Noor University, Robatkarim, in academic year 1391-1392.285 participants consisted the sample, including 125 students from high school (68 from math major and 57 from empirical science major), 130 undergraduate students (72 Computer Engineering students and 58 Information Technology students) and 30 M.A students (Solid-State physics). A diagnostic test comprising six questions with multiple-choice format was used to collect the required data. To ensure the content validity of the instrument, a panel of 20 teachers of physics verified the questionnaire. The reliability was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha as 0.87.The test was given in a normal condition with no in advance awareness. After the test was run, the frequency, frequency percentage, the tables and corresponding graphs were used. To assess how well students understood, the conceptual evaluation method was applied. In this method, the options were categorized in four types as: full understanding, partial understanding, misunderstanding and lack of understanding. The findings showed new misunderstandings about the concepts of static electricity. Based on these findings, it seems so necessary that physics curricula and instructional materials which are about to be recently revised by the Ministry of Education be taken into more considerations so as to organize the concepts of static electricity and its modeling in related textbooks. The aim of this research was investigating understanding of Tehran’s second ‎elementary school students of the fraction concept (part-whole subconstruct) based on APOS and ‎SOLO theories. This study’s method was descriptive-survey ‎method, its statistical population was Tehran’s second elementary school students in the academic ‎year 1397-1398 and its sample was 598 people of the statistical population that selected by multistage sampling method. A test with an unusual task used for collecting data. The content validity of the research tools were confirmed by experts and scholars of mathematics education, and the reliability of the research tools was obtained based on Cronbach's alpha of 0.7. Results of this ‎study showed that students have a limited understanding of fraction’s concept and they have common misconceptions. The most common misconceptions ‎found include: (1) Disregarding the requirement of ‎equal parts in part- whole ‎subconstruct; 2- Understanding fraction in part- whole subconstruct as ‎the part-to-part ratio & 3- ‎Using approximate partitioning ‎to determine the exact fraction of the specified part.‎ Analyzing the responses based on the APOS theory also revealed students did not have ability to use this concept in dealing with unusual situations. In analyzing ‎the responses based on the Solo model, more than 60% of the responses were ‎in the multistructural level. The suggestions of this research ‎are not to over-emphasize the part -whole subconstruct, creating ‎equal opportunities for developing other subconstruct‎s of fraction and emphasizing on ‎conceptual learning of procedures and algorithms relative to fraction ‎concept in content and ‎opportunities presented to students.‎ Manuscript profile

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between quality of life and mental health in high school students. This quantitative correlational research used the questionnaire tool on the rural high school student community in Dehloran city in the school year 2017-2018.The statistical population consisted of 1176 students and, based on Morgan’s table, the sample size was 308.Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were determined through preliminary distribution of a number of questionnaires (25)and by employment of Cronbach’s alpha test. Statistical tests (Pearson correlation, independent t-test, and regression) were used to examine research hypotheses. Moreover, the employed questionnaire was a combination of Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire (1978) and the Quality of Life scale by Williams and Batten (1981). Results showed that the students had a high quality of life and an average level of mental health. There was a significant correlation between quality of life and mental health (correlation coefficient r=0.70, and p≤0.05).Regression results indicated that the independent variable (quality of life) could explain 49% of the variation in the dependent variable (mental health). Given the substantial effect that quality of life has on students’ mental health, the first step that the Ministry of Education should take is to concentrate on improving the quality of life of high school students through teaching them life skills. One of the important criteria for assessing the level of success or failure of educational system is the students’ academic achievement; increasing the academic achievement and reducing the level of their academic failure are among the most important goals of this system. The aim of current research was to investigate the relationship between basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence and relatedness), learning strategies (deep and surface) and students' academic achievement in a form of casual model. 285 high school students in Salmas city were selected using stratified sampling method and answered to learning strategies and basic psychological needs questionnaires. Path analysis was use for data analysis. The findings revealed that tested model had sufficient fit and predicted 23% of changes of academic achievement, 14% deep learning strategies and 13% of variance of surface learning strategies. Deep learning strategies had positive and significant effect on academic achievement. But the effect of surface learning strategies on academic achievement was negative and significant. Need for autonomy and competence had positive and significant effect on Deep learning strategies. But the effect of need for relatedness on this variable wasn't significant. Also, the effect of need for relatedness on surface learning strategies was positive and significant. Research findings showed that both motivational (e.g. basic psychological needs) and cognitive variables (e.g. learning strategies) have important roles in prediction of students' academic achievement.
