Study of Relationship between Ethnic Identity and National Identity among Students Of the Secondary School in Gonbad-e-Qabus

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between national identity and ethnic identity as well as check the status of these two variables, according to some variable among high school students in Gonbad-e Qavous by using a quantitative approach and survey method. The sample size based on a sample of 364 people that were selected by using stratified and cluster method. The theoretical framework of theorizing identity, based on three categories of micro, middle and macro setting. The main question is that national identity and ethnic students have any realation with each other or not, and according to some independent variables, demographic, ethnic and national identity to show in what condition they are? The results show respondents components of national identity and ethnic attitudes are above average. And national and ethnic identity of students simultaneously is in an appropriate condition and relationship conflicting with each other. In addition, the relationships among all ethnic groups have a positive and direct relation. The correlation relative deprivation and national identity, ethnic identity reversed with positive and direct. Coefficients and path analysis is also confirmed these relationships.
