Cancer affects various aspects of a patient's quality of life, including mental, psychological, social, and economic status. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect self-control on emotional well-being due to the mediating role of self-compassion and emotion regulation in cancer patients. The method of this research is descriptive and the correlational research design is structural equation modeling. The statistical population in this study included cancer patients in 1399 that were selected by purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 200 (male and female) cancer patients in Emam Hosein hospital in Tehran. To collect data from the Self-Control scale (Tangney et al, 2004), self-compassion scale-short form (Raes et al, 2011), the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (Gross and John, 2003), and the emotional Well-Being Scale (Keys & Magyar-Moe, 2003) was used. All analyzes were performed using SPSS26 and AMOS24 software. Bootstrap method was used to analyze the intermediate relationships in MACRO Preacher and Hayes (2008). The results showed that self-control has a direct and significant effect on emotional well-being (p<0/008). Also, the direct effect of self-control on self-compassion was significant (p<0/001), but the direct effect of self-control on emotion regulation was not significant (p> 0/05). The indirect effect of self-control on emotional well-being due to self-compassion was significant (p<0/001), but the indirect effect of self-control on emotional well-being wasnot significant due to emotion regulation (p> 0/05).The results of the research have practical implications for health professionals and psychologists and it can be concluded that self-control through self-compassion has an effect on the emotional well-being of cancer patients. The aim this study was effectiveness of multidimensional spiritual therapy with a focus on weight loss and its effect  on emotional stability, self-control, and body mass index in overweight women. The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test design with two experimental and control groups. The statistical population of all obese and overweight women referred to the Counseling and Psychology Clinic in District 3 of Tehran in 1398, and among them, 30 people were selected using the available sampling and were replaced in two experimental and control groups. . The Cattle Questionnaire (1973) was then completed by both groups, and both height and weight were measured. After that, a multidimensional spiritual therapy program with a focus on weight loss was implemented on the experimental group. The post-test was then performed. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 24 and covariance analysis method. The findings showed that multidimensional spiritual therapy with a focus on weight loss increased emotional stability and self-control, and decreased body mass index (P = 0.001). Therefore, it can be said that teaching weight loss methods, if accompanied by the element of spirituality, can both affect weight loss and affect the regulation of emotions. Manuscript profile

The present study was conducted to measure the effect of teaching Time Management on self-directed learning in the first-grade high school girl students. The research method was semi experimental and the research design was pretest-posttest with the control group. The used sampling method was randomized cluster. To this end, two classes, with 30 students each, were randomly selected as “Experimental” and “Control” from a girls’ high school in Falavargion region. The data collection instrument comprised a self-directed learning questionnaire (Fisher et al, 2001) which its face, content, and construct validities had been measured .the reliability of which, also, by means of Cronbach's Alpha, was calculated as 0.81. Both groups responded to the self-directed learning questionnaire as pretest. Then, Time Management was taught to the experimental group, in eight sessions of 1.5 hours each, over a one-month period. Next, both groups were administered a post-test. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance. The findings indicated that the mean scores for self-directed learning and their elements (i.e. self-management, motivation to learn and self-control) increased in the experimental group on the post-test compared to those on the pre-test. Consequently, teaching Time Management improved self-directed learning and its elements. Manuscript profile

The aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of matrix treatment and modern group reality therapy on self-control and social adjustment in methamphetamine-dependent men treated with buprenorphine. The present study was experimental with pre-test and post-test with control group. The statistical population consisted of all methamphetamine-dependent men receiving maintenance therapy with buprenorphine referred to Tehran Drug Addiction Treatment Centers in winter 1977. Forty-five individuals were selected by purposive sampling and were randomly assigned into two experimental and control groups. At first, self-control and social adjustment were assessed through the Tanji self-control questionnaire and Bell's social adjustment questionnaire. The first group received matrix therapy and the second group received group reality therapy; the third group received only buprenorphine maintenance therapy. The variables were evaluated again at post-test. The results showed that both treatments were effective on self-control and social adjustment (P <0.01). Also, the difference between the effectiveness of the two treatments was significant (P <0.01) and matrix treatment had more effect on social adjustment. But there was no significant difference between the efficacy of the two treatments on self-control. Given that the matrix model is a combination of cognitive-behavioral programs, coping skills, family education, and support groups, it is recommended to be used in the treatment of methamphetamine-dependent patients. The aim of this study was to predict drug addiction based on self-control, tolerance of confusion and feelings of loneliness in addicted women referred to addiction treatment centers in Khorramabad. The present study was descriptive-correlational one. The sample size of 150 addicts referred to addiction treatment centers in Khorramabad city were selected by Convenience sampling method. To measure the variables, Golparvar (2005), Tonji et al. (2004), Simonz and Gaher (2005) and Russell (1992) self-control questionnaire were used. The results showed that the relationship between self-control and drug tendency was negative and significant (p <0.001), and the relationship of feeling alone with the tendency toward narcotics was positive and significant (p <0.02) Therefore, these two variables have been able to predict some degree of drug tendency. However, the relationship between tolerance of turmoil and drug tendency was negative, but this relationship was not meaningful. Findings indicate that the strongest predictor for drug tendency was self-regulatory variable (β = 0.39, t = 5.28).These results have important implications for drug-related pathology. Accordingly, it is possible to improve the self-control and tolerance of distress by training and providing appropriate counseling, and by taking measures to reduce the feeling of loneliness, it will prevent the tendency of people to addiction, and even effective and appropriate treatment can be providedfor people who are addicted to different drugs. The purpose of this study was to predict moral behavior based on wisdom with the mediating role of self-control. The study design was correlational and the statistical population included students of University of Applied Sciences and Technology in 2019 in Tehran. 370 students were selected by random cluster sampling method and completed Moral Behavior Questionnaire (Taqhiloo, 2017), Self-Control Questionnaire (Tangney, Baumeister & Boone, 2004) and Wisdom Questionnaire (Schmit, Muldoon, Pounders, 2012). For data analysis, structural equation modeling method was used. The results indicated that the self-control affects people-oriented and task- oriented moral behavior positively and self-centered moral behavior negatively. The direct effect of wisdom was also positive and significant on self-control while it was not significant on people-oriented, task-oriented and self-centered moral behavior, But through the mediating role of self-control, wisdom had a positive effect on people-oriented and task-oriented moral behavior and a negative effect on moral self-centeredness, indicating the importance of the role of self-control. Therefore, it can be concluded that in promoting moral behavior in educational planning, it is better to emphasize on improving self-control Manuscript profile

The purpose of the present study was to examine the mediating role of self-compassion and self-control in the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and quality of life. Three hundred and ninety one individuals (209 females, 182 males) from Shiraz city completed the Young Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (YSQ-SF; Young & Brown 1999), the World Health Organization Quality Of Life-Brief (WHOQOL, 1996), the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS; Neff, 2003b), and the Self-Control Scale (SCS; Tangney, Baumeister & Boone, 2004). The results indicated early maladaptive schemas had a significant negative correlation with quality of life. Self-compassion mediated the relationship between disconnection/rejection and impaired limits with quality of life. Self-control mediated the relationship between disconnection/rejection, impaired limits, and hypervigilance/inhibition with quality of life. The findings suggested that early maladaptive schemas had a determinant role in quality of life and this was partly through mediating role of self-compassion and self-control.   Manuscript profile

Abstract Classical economics and the study of financial markets from a normative point of view have their foundations laid in the rationality of economic agents. The main hypothesis revolves around decision making under rationality. on the other hand, investors do not act as if they are rational, the contrary, exhibit many biases that lead to poor investment decisions in specific contexts. These cognitive errors are due to investors’ inability to certainly know market movements for the next periods, which inclines them to make biased decisions. This paper wishes to analyze the behavior of investors from Tehran Stock Exchange to see if they are prone to behavioral bias under the conditions of information shock. To achieve the research goal, data of 106 sample companies were collected in the period 2013-2020 and analyzed by descriptive-correlation analysis using multiple regression test. The results showed that there was only a significant relationship between internal information shock (fundamental changes in institutional ownership) and behavioral bias of investors' Loss aversion and Self-control Bias and no significant relationship was found with other internal and external shocks. Also, there is no significant relationship between internal and external shocks and behavioral bias of Information Salience. Manuscript profile

A ritual is a certain chain of behaviors, whose characteristics are arrangement and repetitiveness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of performing rituals on increasing self-control, and to test the hypothesized mechanism of this effect, that is, increased self-discipline. In an experimental design, 111 female students of Islamic Azad University-Karaj branch, were randomly selected and assigned into three groups: ritual movements, non-ritual movements, and control. The ritual movements group performed movements that had sequence and repetitiveness, but the non-ritual movements group performed movements without these two features. Then, the three groups were asked to choose one for eating from cream bread and broccoli, and the selection of broccoli was indicator of higher self-control. Feelings of self-discipline were measured by four questions from Duckworth and Seligman (2005). Logistic regression analysis showed that participants who performed ritual movements, chose broccoli more than participants who did not perform any movement or just performed non-ritual movements. Moreover, mediation analyses showed that rituals have a positive effect on self-control through increased self-discipline. Manuscript profile

Legitimacy or illegitimacy of supererogation operations is one of the ongoing discussions of jurisprudence and law. For answering the question whether man has the right to conducting supererogation operations, first the concept of right must be analyzed and human’s different rights must be determined. Then man’s right to his self and the amount of domination he has over his it must be determined. Later, the conditions required for a supererogation operation to be considered to include Jihad reasons must be specified. This way we can respond to this question whether supererogation operations are legitimate or not. In the present paper it is concluded that considering man’s absolute right to be a perfect one and also the fact that man has complete control over his self unless there is a logical or religious restraint, in a supererogation operation in which a person is required to defend an Islamic land against aggressors, his actions are justified by Jihad reasons on condition that there is no other way for defense. Therefore the person has the right to it. Manuscript profile

Today many management experts acknowledge that although formulating a strategic plan and a statement of missions, views, and goals are the organization managers’ significant responsibilities, they would not be sufficient to achieve a strategic success. Actually, the strategic control is considered as the final step in the strategic management process which plays the role of an appropriate performance warrantee for this process as a whole. This would be of a greater significance especially in the insurance industry as an effective factor for economical development of countries and an effective instrument in risk management. Therefore, utilizing the combined approach, the current study has identified and explained the effective factors influencing on the strategic controls associated with a self-control approach in the insurance industry. The data-based approach is applied to the qualitative part of this research. Accordingly, when the process is accomplished, 6 main items would be identified and presented in the form of the strategic control patterns. In the second (quantity) part of the research, assuring the sampling adequacy, utilizing KMO indicator and the Bartlett Test, the obtained model is processed, validated and examined by Confirmatory Factor Technique and Structural Equation Model. The obtained results confirm a positive and meaningful relation among the research variables. Therefore, it could be claimed that the considered relations of the model would be true and reasonable and the presented model is approved. Manuscript profile
