Computer Games Addiction, Emotional and Social Anxiety with Adolescent Academic Performance: the moderating role Self-Control

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between addiction to computer games, emotional and social anxiety with academic performance: the role of self-control moderation in adolescents. The research design was a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population of the study consisted of 200 students (99 boys and 101 girls) from 5th district students of Isfahan who were selected by available sampling method. The data collection tools consisted of Self-control questionnaire Tangjini et al. (2004), Emotionality Marvin Zuckerman (1978), social anxiety of adolescents in Paklak (2004), Pham and Taylor educational performance questionnaire (1999), addiction to Farhadi's computer games (2016), and researcher-made questionnaire Demographics were used as research tools. The collected data from the questionnaire were analyzed by least squares method in structural equations using SPSS-22 and Smart_PLS-3 software. The results of path analysis indicated that self-control has been able to modify the relationship between computer addiction and academic performance, and the amount of moderating effect is up to 239/0, that is, self-control in the relationship between computer addiction to computer games And educational performance play a moderating role (P <0.05), while it has not been able to modify the relationship between social anxiety and academic performance and the relationship between emotional and academic performance.
