The aim of this study was to investigate requirements influencing the use of learning management systems in higher education from the viewpoint of professors at the University of Isfahan. A qualitative study was done using interviews in 2014-15 academic year. Accordingly, 15 university professors were interviewed. Participants were interviewed by semi-structured interview. Prior to interviews, all inquiries had been validated by experts in the field. Collected data from interviews was analyzed using the method of categorization. Results showed that the major factors applied to learning management systems included: factors related to the nature of the learning management system, infrastructure- managerial factors and human factors. Important factors for application in learning management systems in higher education was teaching and learning ability in the factors related to the system; in the human dimension it was proficiency in use of the system; and in managerial- infrastructure it was quality and quantity of infrastructure and provision of adequate financial resources.
