In many renal diseases, we have to do nephrectomy including renal cysts, hydronephrosis, polycystic kidney, etc. Nephrectomy can cause severe side effects. In this study, the effect ofnephrectomy on one of the important functions of kidney, the production of active vitamin D (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol) from inactive vitamin D, has been studied. In this study 15 mixedbreed healthy female dogs were divided into 3 group, including group 1 which underwent leftpartial nephrectomy, group 2 which underwent left total nephrectomy and group 3 whichunderwent left total nephrectomy and right partial nephrectomy. Blood samples were collected aday before surgery, on day of surgery and 45 days after surgery. Histopathology was done onsurgery day and 45 days after it. The results indicated that there was hypertrophy in theremained kidney 45 days after surgery. Also, in group 3 calcium was lower and urea, creatinineand phosphorus were higher than the normal range. However, in group 1 and 2 they were in thenormal range. The amount of vitamin D in group 3 showed significantly lower mean. Based onthe results, it is recommended that in all three groups active vitamin D and calcium are used asexogenous, although vitamin D wasn’t in the normal range only in group 3. Manuscript profile

Introduction: Food fortification is a way to compensate for the lack of micronutrients in society, which is used by all countries in the world to minimize or control the lack of essential nutrients. Meanwhile, the cream cheese is a suitable carrier for fortification due to its wide range of uses. The aim of this study was to fortify the low-fat cream cheese based on β-cyclodextrin / inulin nano emulsions with vitamins D and E. Materials and Methods: Nano emulsions were prepared with 400, 450 and 500 units of vitamin E and 5, 10 and 15 micrograms per gram of vitamin D. Free radical scavenging tests (antioxidant activity), trapping rate, release rate and nano emulsions size were evaluated. The cream cheese tests consisted of the assessments regarding percent acidity, fat, moisture contents, textural properties (hardness, adhesion and elasticity) and peroxide index. Sensory characteristics (taste, texture, appearance, aroma and overall acceptance) were assessed by a 5-point Hedonic method. Results: The results showed that by increasing the use of these two vitamins, the morphological properties of nano emulsions changed and their size increased. Trapping rates ranged from 65 to 98% and release rates ranged from 61 to 84%. The results showed that during the storage period of the cheese in the time intervals of production days, fifteenth, thirtieth, forty-fifth and sixtieth day storage, the index of hardness, adhesion, acidity and peroxide number increased significantly (p≥0.05). Moisture content, elasticity index and sensory characteristics decreased significantly (p≥0.05). The fat content of treated cheese did not show significant differences with the control sample (p <0.05). Conclusion: Considering all physicochemical properties as well as the results of sensory evaluation, the treatment with 450 units of vitamin E and 5 micrograms per gram of vitamin D was selected as the optimal treatment. The purpose of the present study is to review the effect of 8 weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) along with coenzyme Q10 and vitamin D supplementation on coordination, balance, and cognitive function of inactive students who had a history of COVID-19. The research method was post-test with a control group. To this aim, 20 participants with the average age of 21.7±5.7 were randomly divided into intervention and placebo groups. Simultaneous with starting HIIT workouts, coenzyme Q10 and vitamin D supplementation was also used. The placebo group received 2 empty capsules instead of coenzyme Q10 and vitamin D supplementation for the treatment group. Independent t-test was used for statistical analysis and according to the results, no significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of coordination tests. Moreover, the cognitive function of the participants in the intervention group improved significantly compared to the placebo group. It seems that HIIT workouts could enhance the cognitive function and active balance of those who had a history of COVID-19. After their recovery, patients affected by COVID-19 can use HIIT workouts to accelerate the betterment of their cognitive and balance function. Manuscript profile

Skeletal muscle is a dynamic tissue and undergoes structural and functional changes in response to mechanical load, metabolic stress, drugs and diseases. The most prominent structural change of skeletal muscle is hypertrophy and atrophy. Resistance training is one of the most important interventions for muscle hypertrophy. By increasing the release of insulin hormones and insulin-like growth factor 1, these exercises activate the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in skeletal muscle and increase protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy. Due to the presence of vitamin D receptor in skeletal muscle cells, this vitamin can affect muscle hypertrophy. The review of the studies that were searched from the scientific databases of PubMed, Science Direct, Springer and Google Scholar shows that vitamin D also causes muscle hypertrophy by activating the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. However, contrary to expectations, the combination of resistance training and vitamin D causes a slight increase in muscle mass and strength. Since the results of studies regarding the effects of the combination of resistance training and vitamin D on muscle hypertrophy are somewhat contradictory, more studies are needed regarding the effects of these two interventions on muscle structure and function. The outbreak of calf pneumonia in herds occurs due to different pathogens. Vitamin D3 displays a regulatory effect on different cells, especially its pro-differential biological function and stimulates antimicrobial peptides. In the present study, the effects of vitamin D3 on the expression of antimicrobial peptides in experimental pasteurellosis in calves were assessed. Ten Holstein calves (2-4 months old) were randomly divided into two groups. Prepared Pasteurella multocida (3×109 CFU/mL) was inoculated in the trachea of all calves and Vitamin D3 was injected only in the treatment group following confirmation of pneumonia. Blood samples and broncho-alveolar lavage fluids were obtained from both groups at different time intervals and the peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated to evaluate the antimicrobial peptides gene expression. The expression of CD4, Cathelicidin, and Defensins genes was measured in vitro conditions following the addition of 10-6, 10-7 and 10-8 molar of vitamin D3. Defensins and CD4 gene expressions revealed a significant difference in the two groups, at the 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours after the challenge time, while the Cathelicidin gene was not expressed in both experimental groups. Surprisingly, increased expression of Cathelicidin, Defensins, and CD4 was observed at a concentration of 10-6 M of vitamin D3. According to the results of this study, vitamin D3 had positive effects on the immune system which was observed as significant improvement in the clinical symptoms of treated calves. The expression of lung-related Defensins and CD4 in vivo and in vitro approved the immunomodulatory effects of vitamin D3 but the gene expression of Cathelicidin is probably related to prescribing higher doses of vitamin D3. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of swimming exercise and vitamin D consumption on β-catenin /TCF signaling pathway in endometriosis model rats. In this way, the number of 30 8-week-old male Wistar rats with an average weight of 202.85±15.62 grams after induction of the model by transplanting the tissue around the endometrial region randomly into 6 groups; healthy control(n=5), Sham (normal saline solution to control the effect of eating the gavage)(n=5), endometriosis(n=5), endometriosis+vitamin D(n=5), endometriosis+swimming(n=5), endometriosis+swimming+ vitamin D(n=5). The amount of vitamin D consumption was 200 mg/kg per body weight of each rat, and the swimming training program was for 8 weeks, five days a week, and every day for 30 minutes. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that the expression level of β-catenin and TCF genes was significantly higher in the endometriosis group than in the healthy control group (p=0/007, 0/035).Swimming, vitamin D and a combination of swimming+D were associated with a decrease in β-catenin and TCF gene expression. In general, the results of this research indicate that the regulation of β-catenin and TCF gene expression in a normal state in the process of endometriosis can improve the level of this disease, and possibly swimming exercises and taking at the same timevitamin D will be effective in the normal state of the β-catenin/TCF pathway. Introduction: The main purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of eight weeks of Pilates exercises with and without vitamin D supplementation on body composition and osteoporosis in overweight postmenopausal women. Methodology: The statistical population of this study included postmenopausal women with an age range (50-70 years) and a high body mass index (25 to 29 kg/m2), with 40 women in three experimental groups and one group were controlled. The first group of 10 people only did Pilates, the second group of 10 people only took vitamin D supplements, the third group of 10 people did Pilates with the supplement and the last group was considered as the control group. The subjects participated in the Pilates exercise program, which included 8 weeks of three sessions of one hour per week, and took vitamin D supplements according to the schedule. Finally, the subjects' body mass index, vitamin D level, and osteoporosis level were determined before and after the activity. To check the results, the statistical method of covariance test was used at the significance level of P≤0.05. Results: Based on the obtained results, Pilates exercises along with vitamin D supplementation had an effect on the body composition of overweight postmenopausal women and reduced the body mass index of women (P≤0.05)). Pilates exercises combined with vitamin D supplementation had an effect on osteoporosis in overweight postmenopausal women and the rate of osteoporosis in the subjects was reduced (P≤0.05). However, supplement consumption and Pilates exercise alone did not affect the amount of body mass index and osteoporosis (P≤0.05). Conclusion: According to the results obtained from this research, it is possible to suggest Pilates exercises along with vitamin D supplementation to overweight postmenopausal women to improve body composition and prevent osteoporosis. The main goal of osteoporosis treatment is to prevent fractures. Manuscript profile
