The central area of any cities is of critical importance in the process of urban sustainable development. Diversity of land uses is an inevitable characteristic of a lively and dynamic urban center. These various land uses should support each other and need to be located in appropriate locations. In urban centers with different activities, public green spaces underpin urban sustainability and increase quality of life. In fact, nowadays there is an increased need for qualified and well-located public green spaces, in particular parks, in these areas. Therefore, green space site planning is amongst the most important of all management decisions for environmental and urban planners in a city. Reliable site planning is indispensable to the decision-making processes involved in developing urban green spaces supporting sustainable development. If making the decision reflects on a rationale based on proper information and research, then a higher level of community satisfaction is expected. In fact, if an appropriate site is selected based on a comprehensive integrated approach which considers all feasible effects, most of citizens' aspirations will be fulfilled. However, the multi-criteria nature of site selection for such spaces makes this issue so much complicated that it cannot be resolved using conventional managerial methods and tools. Considering the multidimensional structure (like social, economic, environmental, ecological or planning dimensions) and multi-functionality (such as utilization, employment, preservation, etc.) of green spaces, green space site planning is a decision under a variety of factors and can be viewed as a multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. Therefore, with reference to the use of multi-criteria decision-making process for urban green space optimum site planning along with a more sustainable development path, a very important role is played by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and by its generalization to feedback networks, the Analytic Network Process (ANP). In addition to AHP and ANP approaches, which are both comprehensive to harmonize and deal with different aspects of sustainable urban green space site planning, GIS is also best suited for handling a wide range of criteria data at multi-spatial, multi-temporal and multi-scale from different sources for a multi-criteria analysis. Finally, from the viewpoint of all the above approaches and their benefits, this article studies the development of urban green spaces in the central area of Shiraz metropolitan area, Iran based on a comparison of different sites by developing a decision support system using a three-stage procedure based on integrated GIS Analytic/Hierarchy Process. Moreover, in order to select the alternatives, the methods of analytical hierarchy process and analytic network process have been comparatively studied. The results indicate that the models would yield the same output; however, the analytic network process works more on efficiently for this purpose. Overall, empirical findings indicate that the research approach can be used for future sustainable development in establishing standard decision-making procedures in urban green planning and management. Therefore, urban planners and managers can use this research result for choosing a more comprehensive mathematical tool for complex decision and rational judgment around the selection of land use location choices. Growth of population and economic-social needs of human being led to impressive growth of industries including aquaculture as an important source of protein needs in recent decades. This development which is usually associated with lack of environmental impact studies leads to environmental degradation in many countries. Therefore, this study was conducted to evaluation of ecological potential of Kabgian basin for aquaculture. In so doing, texture, depth and erosion of soil, slope, temperature, pH and water flow, stone, sensitive habitats, protected areas, conservation value of species and ArcGIS 10.2 according to 'Makhdoum Aquaculture Model' were used for site selection of fish farming ponds along the Kabgian River. The results showed that from 192 ha extent of the study area, 78.7 ha in the vicinity of Botari village was suitable for the development of aquaculture industry. As regards spatial distribution of fish farming ponds along the Kabgian River is not in a good condition and just focused on a specific part of the river, therefore, self purification potential of river will be decreased. So to reduce of environmental impacts of aquaculture on the water quality of Kabgian River, move the fish farming ponds to suitable areas for aquaculture development is recommended. The watershed of Hassanrobat which is located in Meimeh in Isfahan province, is studied in current research in order to construct Gabion Dams. Experts suggest the location of dams' in water channels based on economical reasons as a priority for locating dam. Spatial Multi Criteria Evaluation is employed to determine critical position of the dam in watershed area. All the maps of key factors divided into two groups and were entered the SMCE as limitation factors. Therefore it is needed to standardize the factors such as slope and rainfall with fuzzy model. However, other ones (vegetation, roads, villages, springs and wells) standardized by Cast method. The two remaining maps: land use and geology standardized based on experts suggestion. Eventually, weighted the factors of first group while, the second group are weighted by hierarchy in order to product of the final map that show the priorities to construct Gabion dams in the region. Obviously, natural factors affect the final choice as well as economy of the region. This study proposes mentioned location to related planners since soil erosion would significantly decrease after dam constructed. Manuscript profile

Background and Objectives: Population growth, urban development, and increased human activities will bring various outcomes, including the production and accumulation of waste, followed by environmental pollution. In developing countries, construction waste accounts for a large proportion of municipal waste, which in addition to the high cost of disposal, also has adverse effects on the environment. Because construction debris takes up a lot of space due to its bulk, disposing of it in landfills reduces the useful life of these areas and it is necessary to find a new place to bury construction debris. Method: Searching for a new landfill is a complex and time consuming process and requires a capable and efficient system, as using GIS and combining different layers of information and considering environmental, social and economic criteria, the most suitable landfill can be found. Located a building. In the present study, 16 criteria (slope, land use, residential, commercial and industrial centers, villages, roads (including 3 layers of highways, main roads and side roads), water (including 6 layers of wells, springs, aqueducts, Rivers, dams and waterways), antiquities, airport runways and mines) are involved in the location process, so that privacy and distance maps are prepared first ,then, in order to achieve more reliability, scoring the classes or parameter intervals was done in three ways. Criteria were weighted using Expert Choice software and hierarchical analysis (AHP). Findings: The results of the three types of scoring to multi-criteria analysis showed that there were significant differences in the results of different methods of scoring. Discussion and Conclusions: The results of combining 16 parameters involved in site selection in software Arc GIS9.3 showed that the appropriate zones for construction and demolition wastes buried in Hamadan, often are located in a 90-degree slice. Abstract Background and Objective: Considering the effects of power plants locations on society, economy and environment, it is important to choose a suitable site for this facility. In order to find a suitable location for the construction of combined-cycle power plant, GIS can effectively provide a combination of the required information for site selection. This study aims to identify the most important factors in determining the appropriate place for the construction of combined-cycle power plants. The role and influence of each factor (distance from access roads, altitude, slope of the land, distance from the earthquake-prone areas, distance from surface water resources and distance of the fault lines) are also determined. Method: Using fuzzy membership functions, the standardized criteria maps were created in GIS based on the nature and role of these factors in the site selection. First, it was necessary to multiply these layers to their weights based on their priorities for combination of the criteria. Fuzzy AHP was used for this purpose. Finally, Ordered Weighted Averaging was used to overlay and combine the layers. Findings: The results indicate that the northwestern part of Qazvin province is inappropriate for the intended purpose and eastern and southeast parts of the study area are forecasted. Discussion and Conclusion: Since the risk level of making decision is controlled at high, low or intermediate in combination of the layers by this method, the application of the results of this method will be acceptable, making decisions based on this method will have less uncertainty and the results of this method can be used with more confidence. Background and Objective: Landfill site selection is essential in urban development plans. Sustainable development can mean the identification of the unique characteristics and assets of a region which highlights the advantages of each region and leads the regional beneficiaries and resources to the perspective emerging from land use planning. Therefore, the environmental baseline studies based on GIS technology and other models related to spatial data analysis for identification of  the area, could be seriously addressed. Natural landscape referes to usefulness of human activities in the nature, especially in the areas which are covered with plants or artificially drawn, On the other hand study of urban landfills from natural landscape view has a very important effect on landfill site selection, This seeks to find the optimum model for urban landfill site selection in line with land use and sustainable development. Methods: In this study, the landfill in Bushehr was visted and features such as the spacing of wells, residential communities, industrial facilities, access roads, airports, historical and religious centers, areas of biological importance, hunting and habitat zones for birds, geographic coordinates, wind, topography, geology, land use, soil, watercourse, groundwater depth, floodplain, surface water and slope were studied. After the necessary processing using the software area maps were prepared. The obtained map was transferred to Arc GIS software. The maps with Clip functions related to the intended zone were extracted for all the digital files. The basic maps in, 9/2 Arc GIS were determined in the study area using Buffer function, after classification and finally overlaying each maps, the finalized, was obtained. The final map was prepared according to the classification table with three values of poor, average and good. Results: The results showed that the study area is 57% suitable, 40% poor and 3 % average in terms of spatial planning and sustainable development criteria. According to population growth in Bushehr city, the amount of waste production in a 20-year horizon (2009-2026) of the area required for sanitry landfilling in the study area was calculated 1176261/2 hectare. Knowing landfill has an area of 2 hectare, it was revealed that the place does not meet the needs for 20 years. Manuscript profile

Background Objective: Solid waste landfill site selection requires proper studies and management practices, and many criteria affect the site selection of suitable landfill, not paying attention to them can cause severe environmental pollution and harm to humans. Several criteria have been proposed to select the appropriate site for landfill, each of them cause specific restrictions and requirements for location. In other words, each criterion is based on scientific fields, so that such studies have found multidimensional identity and interdisciplinary structure. Methods and materials: In this study, the most important criteria affecting the landfill site selection based on lecture review and study of various guidelines have been identified. In this study, in addition to introducing these criteria, the importance of each of the mentioned criteria in the site selection of municipal landfill is discussed. For all these criteria, numerical values of appropriate thresholds were also investigated in different studies. Results: Some of the most important criteria are slope, bedrock, faults, distance from surface water sources, depth of groundwater, dominant wind, rainfall, protected areas, distance from urban and rural settlements, land use, distance from road network. Locations and distance from historical and ancient centers. Discussion: Due to the lack of a coherent study on the importance of criteria and thresholds, this study could be used as a model for landfill site selection considering the environmental characteristics of the area by researchers and decision makers. Evaluation of the ecological capability of the land is an intermediate stage of the land planning process, which the most appropriate land uses are determined for an area. So these studies which require investigation in locations from different perspectives are necessary for sustainable development. The purpose of this study was to determine the capability and suitability of lands for agricultural and rangeland uses and also to determine the area of unauthorized land uses of the Aqujan watershed of Qazvin province. The maps of the ecological resources of the watershed (including precipitation, elevation, slope, land units (soil depth and texture), vegetation, and erosion) were prepared and crossing in a GIS environment, the homogeneous environmental map units (work units’ map) were obtained. The ecological potential of watershed lands was determined by comparing the characteristics of ecological homogeneous units with the ecological model of agricultural and rangelands. Finally, the area of unauthorized land uses was determined using overlaying the current land use map and the land use map derived from ecological capability. The results showed that 3188 ha (44%) of the area is occupied by unauthorized land uses. The contributions of unauthorized livestock and range management, irrigated orchards and cultivations, and dry farming land uses were 2569 ha (34.9%), 211 ha (2.8%) and 408 ha (5.5%), respectively. The results of this study showed that there is a big difference between the proper and current land uses in the Aqujan watershed, which indicates the degree of deviation from the principles of sustainable development. Background and Objective The rise in wealth, improving living standards, increasing the rate of population growth, along with increasing the level of commercial and industrial activities in urban areas around the world, are the main reasons for the significant increase in solid waste production, including industrial waste. These wastes lead to the emergence of environmental and human problems and on the other hand, disrupt environmental security. Among the wastes, industrial wastes are highly important due to their high variability, and choosing a suitable location for the landfill site of these wastes is an effective means of controlling pollution from its source. There are many methods for waste disposal such as a sanitary landfill, combustion, recycling, recovery, reduction, and composting. But sanitary burial in a Landfill is an appropriate and acceptable option for disposing of industrial solid waste. Choosing the right place for a solid waste landfill is an effective means of controlling pollution from its source. The site selection process is one of the most difficult tasks related to solid waste management systems because it is subject to government regulations, municipal and government budgets, increasing population density, increasing environmental awareness, public health concerns, reducing the availability of suitable land for Landfilling and increasing political and social opposition to the creation of landfills. GIS is an important tool for identifying and selecting the right site and has a positive impact on time and cost management, as well as providing a digital database for long-term monitoring that is able to process complex geographic data and graphically display results. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the proper place for non-particular landfill of Birjand industrial park, based on the standards of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ministry of Energy in the GIS environment. In this study, the best places in terms of environment, soils, geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, climate, infrastructure, and socio-social criteria. This study is able to provide a model while applying all standards of the country, to reduce the ecological risk.  Materials and Methods For this purpose, 8 parameters including environmental, soils, geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, climate, infrastructure, and socioeconomic as the main criteria were examined in the form of 26 subcriteria. After identifying the criteria and the amount of restriction and prohibition for each factor, information was obtained by referring to the relevant organizations of each criterion. And the database is required by using GIS and Google Earth pro systems. Then, the limitations in each layer were removed using the tools in the GIS software environment. The remaining areas were standardized using layers defuzzification. Finally, the layers are integrated using the Rasters calculation tool, and the best area for the site construction of the waste landfill location was selected. Results and Discussion After combining the maps and applying the existing prohibition, four polygons in the north of the industrial park and a polygon in the south of the region were identified that there is no prohibition on the construction of a landfill place. Then the parameters such as slope, height, aspect, soil type, rainfall, land use, and vegetation map were applied as restrictions. After applying the restrictions in the region, only one polygonal remains in the northern part of the industrial park, which is proposed as a suitable area for the construction of a waste landfill. The area has less than 5% slope, its vegetation is poor and the moor region is considered. It is also not in the dominant wind direction of the region. This polygon distance to the industrial park is about 4 km. The overall area is 3 million square meters. With a field visit of the proposed polygon, the sigmoid sluice area, the bare lands, and the border of the hill was removed from an area of 3000000 m². And, only two polygons with an area of 467,000 m3 were reminded. According to the annual volume of waste generated in the region (2400 m²) and the lifespan of 20 years, the total volume of waste is equal to 48000 m². To bury this volume of waste, a land with dimensions of 300×80 m² with a depth of at least two meters is needed. According to the area of the proposed area, there are about 18 plots with a depth of two meters in the area that can be selected as a landfill. Conclusion The results show that attention to existing standards can be considered a tool for choosing the ideal site. This study is able to provide a model that, while using all national standards, also leads to an ecological risk. Finally, it is suggested that recycling produced per unit reduces waste production from origin. The stone powder prepared from the stone factories' wastes, re-separation of construction waste according to the size, and reuse of them in construction can lead to the recycling of most of this waste. It is essential to implement the proposed landfill as soon as possible, as they are now discharged without any management around, which has become a health and aesthetic problem and the area is becoming a dust source. Background and Objective Human civilizations have long been formed along the rivers and water-rich areas, due to the need for water resources. Today, the growing trend of societies and the need for progress in various fields such as agriculture, housing, tourism, etc., have made the exploitation of water resources inevitable. The severe economic dependence of the country on the oil exports on the one hand, and the disregard for the potential income from different types of tourism, on the other hand, made in this study solve the problems concerning the tourism industry. While identifying a suitable place for investment in the margins of water resources, we will introduce the most crucial capacities for the growth and development of tourism in communities, including structures such as dams, rivers, and dikes correction. These structures prevent hazards such as floods, erosion, and sediment that impede sustainable development. Therefore, this research will help us in watershed management operations and tourism development, along with creating special landscapes and reducing the related expenditures. For this purpose, by preparing various scenarios for special conditions such as slopes and water canals, necessary measures such as the dikes correction can be done in the best way. Also, the present study may provide the managers and stakeholders with a better view of the field of watershed management and the tourism industry. The research questions are as follows: What are the advantages and disadvantages of constructing any type of dike for tourism?, and What is the impact of dikes correction on the catchments of the study area and its role in attracting tourists?. In today's world, where tourism is a lucrative and pervasive industry, it is possible to help attract more tourists and identify these attractions by linking the watershed management, tourism, and rural attractions. Corrective structures are small structures constructed, using simple materials such as wood, stone, stone and mortar, concrete, and gravel netting, to reduce the slope of the canals, reduce the speed of water flow, and control erosion. In this study, by determining the appropriate location of dikes correction, it has been attempted to show the role of watershed management operations in the development of tourism in an area and the ways of reducing the financial and human costs of natural threats caused by rainfall. Without carefully examining the proper location of the dikes correction, any measure will have adverse effects on rural areas, roads, farms, and gardens, as well as urban areas. By merely building some kinds of the dike, we could not hope to earn huge incomes from tourism. Therefore, in this research, the following goals would be pursued: Determining and identifying the places affected by the dikes correction plan in the study area, Preserving water and soil, preventing the erosion, and creating a tourism-friendly environment; Scientific review of the advantages and disadvantages of dikes correction; Reduction of damages resulted from the drought and creating a beautiful environment; Study of international ideas and experiences in this regard; Reviewing the works done in other areas and comparing it with the works in the study area; The performance of dikes in the study area in terms of rainfall status and its role in the rate of erosion and sedimentation; The impact of structures correction on human, social and physical capitals and its consequences for society.Materials and Methods This applied study has been conducted in Khorramabad, the center of Lorestan Province-Iran. With an area of 4942 square kilometers and an altitude of 1148 meters above sea level and having a temperate climate, this area is one of the most important and largest catchments of the Karkheh River. Using the opinion of experts and applying the #C programming language for each of the hydrological criteria with the following sub-indicators, a weight is obtained. Using the effect of the weights on the created phase map and the geographical information system, a weight map is produced. Sub-indicators include water canals (grading the streams), wells, springs, and aqueducts (location of these resources downstream of these structures), topography with geological subsections (rock hardness), coverage, slope (division in the range of 5-70%), economic and social indicators (main roads and by-ways and location of villages) and two important land usage priorities (severe dependency on the type of land coverage with regard to the erosion) and faults prepared from the Geology map (1:25000). By merging all accessible maps, suitable locations will be selected to build correction dams in proper tourist areas. Results and Discussion In this study, we examined the type of dikes correction in 8 random points of the study area, the results of which show the appropriateness of the implementation method of the study. Considering the objectives of the study and the importance of constructing each of the dikes correction in reducing the damages caused by erosion and sedimentation after rainfalls, and regarding the importance of the project in tourist attraction, and lastly to improve the performance of such projects, we will present the following suggestions: Implementation of studies in the margins of structures, for tourism development; Construction of fishing ponds in the path of correction structures and including a fishing program for tourists, with the aim of entertainment and creating inner peace; Reducing the pressure on water and land resources, by increasing currency earnings and entrepreneurship in the framework of ecotourism services; Maintaining and increasing the balance of water resources in order to attract tourists; Storage and preservation of seasonal waters in order to grow vegetation and increase the desire of tourists, in the dry seasons of the region; Piloting a part of the study area, with the aim of determining the role of dikes correction in attracting tourists and comparing it with other water resources; Using the knowledge of watershed management engineers in the scientific construction of various correction, in order to attract scientific tourists; Maximize the development of ecotourism with abandoned water resources. Conclusion The analysis of the findings of this study reveals that in order to assume tourism as an applied industry, its various aspects should be considered; The most important strategies and suggestions presented to achieve this research goal are as follows: Providing simple, appropriate and practical solutions based on scientific principles to improve the employment situation, maintain and develop infrastructures, revitalize tourist sites (watershed structures) and sane financial resources. Prioritization in this way plays an effective role in making the watershed and tourism construction credits, purposeful. Manuscript profile

Urban growth and urban development have created many problems for cities, and Site selection of urban services can be effective in regulating the functioning of cities in large measure. The network of fuel stations is a municipal service, which acts as a fuel supplier to the urban transport sector and in turn is important for traffic considerations, urbanization, safety and environmental issues. In this study, at first, 18 criteria in three socio-economic, physical, technical and operational environments were selected as effective criteria. Then the spatial data became standard in the GIS environment and turned into new information layers. Each of the criteria and sub-criteria were weighed in terms of their importance in site selection of optimum positions of CNG fuel supply through the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) process, and after integrating the weighted layers, the map of the optimum location areas for CNG fuel was produced. According to the results 48.58% of the area, it has the potential to build the CNG fuel supply location. Also, of the 8 CNG and dual fuel stations in Ahvaz, only 2 stations with suitable conditions are located in the north of zone 2. 3 stations in completely inappropriate areas, 2 stations in inappropriate areas and 2 positions in the middle areas. As a result, it can be argued that Ahvaz has a high potential for building Fuel station, but with a lack of site selection of CNG fuel, which can be solved with proper management and appropriate allocation of funds for the implementation of site selection design projects for CNG fuel and it is possible to take steps in the direction of rural sustainable development policy Manuscript profile

This research attempts to select the suitable areas for tourism development using a Geographic Information System (GIS) and Ecological capability evaluation. It regulates the relationship between socio-economic impacts and land use changes to monitor the sustainable development and determines the potential or types of use that land can naturally have. In this research, in order to identify the environmental potential of Shahrood County for tourism, GIS as the best suitable technique for land evaluation and site feasibility was used along with Index Overlaying (IO). Thus by identifying the ecological resources of the region, in a scale of 1:250000, map layer information was dispatched to the ArcGIS to overlay. This research was done in 6 stages. After preparing the slope, aspect and elevation layers, they were overlaid in ArcGIS and the landform layer was produced. Then, the overlaying of landform, land use, soil, vegetation and wildlife layers resulted in the final environmental units. After that, the ecological models of extensive and intensive tourism in Iran were used for comparison and analysis. According to the results, the study area has high potential for tourism. The suitable area for intensive outdoor recreation encompassed 68.8% of the area associated with class 1 and 19.1% with class 2; and extensive outdoor recreation included 93.2% class 1 and 5.3% class 2. In addition to this, 13.6% of study area was allocated to conservation because no part of this area is suitable for tourism activities. In the end, appropriate activities for each zone are recommended. Manuscript profile

The rapid growth of population and urbanization in recent decades has created many problems in human daily life. One of the important issues in this connection is urban transportation, especially public transportation, and it is of great interest today. Studying the effective factors and evaluating the location of subway stations is one of the important and necessary issues in the urban context. The importance and prestige of any city depends on its city services. The more these services and facilities are at an ideal level, the more comfortable the conditions are for the citizens' lives and the more the satisfaction of the citizens, which is one of the most important urban services of public transportation, especially the urban subway. Accordingly, the scientific goal of this research is to use GIS analysis to identify service areas and use multi-criteria decision models to locate new stations. This research has been carried out through several steps, including identifying variables, preparing standard criteria maps, obtaining the weight of layers, applying the weight of layers, and fuzzy overlapping of layers. Analytical Network Process (ANP) model was used to weight the criteria. In the results of weighting, the distance from the fault, the distance from the parking lot, and the population without cars had the greatest impact on positioning. Finally, suitable places for the construction of the metro station were suggested. Manuscript profile

Choosing the right place to build a new shopping center is a multi-criteria decision-making problem that involves different people and opinions. In this research, geographic information systems (GIS) and multi-criteria decision-making models have been used to perform some stages of spatial analysis, and then the development of a group decision support system for aggregating and selecting the final alternative has been discussed. A two-step method was proposed in this research to create limited decision-making options. In the first stage, creating standard criteria maps including five items with spatial analysis and normalization was done in ArcGIS software. According to the studies, the weight of each criterion was determined and the weighted overlapping of the layers was done. After applying the limiting options, six areas were determined to perform web-based location selection. In the second stage, a group spatial decision support system was developed. Using Visual Studio environment and C# programming language and .NET technology, a website was designed for the participation of experts in this field. In the architecture of this system, ASPMap technology, including a set of controls and map components, and location-based tools, was embedded on the server side of the program. User weighting of the criteria was done in the forms designed by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). With the help of stored procedures in a SQL Server database, the average value of each of the selected points is calculated online based on the opinions of the group. Finally, the point that had the highest value in the average of the opinions of different users was introduced as the best place to build a shopping center. The research results showed that the proposed method has high flexibility, speed, and ease in applying group opinions. Manuscript profile
