Solid Waste Disposal Site Selection Using the Fuzzy and AHP Integrated Method (A Case Study: Kouhdasht City)

Abstract :
Waste disposal site selection is a critical issue in the urban planning process because of its enormous impact on the economy, ecology, and the environmental health of the region. Waste disposal site selection process aims to locate the areas that will minimize hazards to the environment and public health. In the present study, in order to select sites for dispose of urban waste of Kouhdasht, in addition to TM and ETM+ images, the following data layers and maps have been utilized: distance from city, lithology, slope, ground water, distance from road and other important suburban areas. According to the results of use of the AHP-Fuzzy in Landfill Site, 35.06, 24.85, 36.23, 3.85 and 27.4 percent of the area are located in very unsuitable, unsuitable, moderate and suitable classes respectively.
