Journal of Food Biosciences and Technology

    Submission of Papers

Manuscripts should be submitted to the journal electronically through the journal online submission.

All papers must be written in English according to sound grammar and proper terminology.

Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published previously, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that if accepted it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the publisher.

    Types of Contributions

Original research papers ; topical review articles ; short communications.

    Manuscript Preparation

General : manuscripts should be typewritten, double-spaced with a font Times New Roman of 12 pt. in the MS-Word 2003 format in one column with 2.5 cm margin at each side. Each page should be numbered. It is suggested that the authors prepare their manuscripts in the following manner:

    • Title, Authors, Affiliation
    • Abstract, Keywords
    • Main text (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion)
    • Acknowledgement
    • Figures and Tables
    • References

Authors should consult a recent issue of the journal for style if possible. An electronic copy of the paper should accompany the final version. The Editors reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity.

Title : The title of the paper should unambiguously reflect its contents. Where the title exceeds 70 characters a suggestion for an abbreviated running title should be given.

Authors : Full postal addresses must be given for all co-authors. The corresponding author should be identified (include a Fax number and E-mail address) with an asterisk and footnote. All other footnotes (except for table footnotes) should be identified with superscript Arabic numbers.

Abstract : Each paper should be provided with an abstract of 150-200 words, which state the purpose of the study, basic procedures, main findings and the principal conclusions.

Keywords : Authors are asked to list in alphabetical order up to 5-7 key words or phrases that describe the subject matter of their paper.

Introduction : The introduction should not be a lengthy review of all background literature. It should be limited to identifying the gap in scientific knowledge or the problem that the research addressed.

Materials and Methods : Sufficient detail or literature references to such methods should be included in the Materials and Methods section to permit other scientists to repeat or extend the experiments.

Illustrations : All illustrations should be suitable for reproduction. Photographs, charts and diagrams are all to be referred to as “Figure(s)” and should be carefully designed and prepared in a form suitable for reproduction.

Line drawings : Good quality printouts on white paper produced in black ink are required. All lettering, graph lines and points on graphs should be sufficiently large and bold to permit reproduction when the diagram has been reduced to a size suitable for inclusion in the journal. Dye-line prints or photocopies are not suitable for reproduction. Do not use any type of shading on computer-generated illustrations.

Photographs : Original photographs must be supplied as they are to be reproduced (e.g. black and white or colour). If necessary, a scale should be marked on the photograph. Please note that photocopies of photographs are not acceptable.

Colour : Colour reproduction is available if the author is willing to bear the additional incremental reproduction and printing costs.

Tables : Tables should be numbered consecutively and given a suitable caption and each table typed on a separate sheet. Footnotes to tables should be typed below the table and should be referred to by superscript lowercase letters. No internal horizontal and vertical rules should be used. Tables should not duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript (e.g. in graphs). Suggested place of tables and figures should be clearly marked throughout the text.

Units : The SI system should be used for all scientific and laboratory data.

References : All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of the manuscript. In the text refer to the author’s name (without initials) and year of publication (e.g. “Steventon and Donald (1994) studied the effects…” or “…similar to values reported by others (Anderson et al., 1990)…”). For 2 authors all authors are to be listed. When there are more than 2 authors, first author et al. Should be used throughout the text. The list of references should be arranged alphabetically by authors’ names and should be as full as possible, listing all authors, the full title of articles and journals, publisher and year. The manuscript should be carefully checked to ensure that the spelling of authors’ names and dates are exactly the same in the text as in the reference list.

References should be given in the following form :

    Proofs

If at all possible, authors are requested to provide an e-mail address, as proofs will be e-mailed to the author as a PDF file (first named author if no corresponding author is identified of multi-authored papers) and should be returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors; any authors may be charged to the author. Any queries should be answered in full. Please note that authors are urged to check their proofs carefully before return, since the inclusion of late corrections cannot be guaranteed.

    Copyrigth

All authors must sign the “Transfer of Copyrigth” agreement before the article can be published.
