2 - Cohering central part of Shiraz Urban design guidelines toward a more coherent urban form based on complexity theory

Old cities of Iran have different qualities that some of them cannot be seen in contemporary cities. Experiencing the invasion of cars and people’s new life style during the last century, old cities lost their forms and functions, gradually. Such changes caused new challenges and demands by which various qualities of old cities has been altered or vanished forever, as urban cohesion and wholeness. Cohesion and wholeness are two related concepts where the former one is a fundamental condition to reach the later one. In this paper, wholeness is defined as an integrated system, consisted of different elements and their relations which can tolerate no changes, since a trivial one may change it into another system. Moreover, cohesion is considered as an important quality of relations between different elements of the whole. Although cohesion can be seen with various scales in different layers of cities, the layer we emphasize on in this paper is the built environment. For theoretical frame work of this paper we used complexity theory with emphasis on Christopher Alexander and Nikos Salingaros theories about wholeness and coherent urban form. We extracted principals of urban coherence to evaluate the cohesion of central part of Shiraz and to make design guidelines to achieve cohesion. These principle are: coupling, diversity, boundary, forces, organization, hierarchy, interdependence, and decomposition. And also a wide range of valid records, documents, and maps are used which enabled us to illustrate the main structure of this old city, before its destruction in Pahlavi era. Taking into account all of these principles, we focused on these questions: does cohesion exist in the ancient area of this city? Can we find some application of these principals in old city that could be as a foundation for design guidelines? As our first contribution, we used the principles and evaluated their existence by applying them to an old area of Shiraz city which dates back to the Zand era. Due to our promising results, mentioned principles can be seen in old city. On one hand, the existence of these principles in the old city means that the old area follows the rules of complex system theory so it emphasizes that the old area is a coherent area. On the other hand, it suggests some design principals and patterns that can be considered as a foundation for design guidelines towards cohering and coupling contemporary city. Our second contribution is a design guideline for cohering contemporary cities by connecting two adjacent areas. These guidelines are: complementarity of adjacent areas, increasing the permeability of area in its edges, reducing unlimited views, reducing parcel size of edges, reducing the distance between adjacent areas, increasing the permeability of edge parcels, priority of pedestrian movements, increasing the diversity of functions, increasing the diversity of forms, and increase the homogeneity of parcels in a street. By using these guidelines we can increase the connectivity of two adjacent areas in the first step and increase the cohesion of the whole city in the last step. Manuscript profile

This writing investigates the prescriptive judgement about surrogacy forwhich four theories are found including: permission, prohibition, apparentexemption and lawfulness. The said theories are based on the validImamites references. Those who believe in prohibition argue thatsurrogacy is illegal. They refer to sermons and arguments, and believe inthe necessity of keeping the pudendum safe, or taking care of if, also, theyargue about the prohibition of putting sperm in the others, wombs andthey think the kinship should be prevented, too. Some jurisprudentsbelieve in its being lawful based on permission and exemption principles. The fourth theory calls it contingent jast as a medical treatment and underspecific conditions. Having investigated the afore-mentioned theories andthe Imamites. Jurisprudents, beliefs and same dependable reasanings, weare led to believe that none of the sermons and narrations aboutprohibition believes in surrogacy and the third theory which is about theexemption, despite the existence of real prevention, is not clear-cut. Thelast theory has no investigatory basis, as it deals with public permission, ifneeded, and also because it presents no independent theory aboutsurrogacy. As a result, in this survey, we will be led to the second theory, that is, the lawfulness based on the real permission. Manuscript profile

Land cover map is one of the most important information resources in natural resource management. The goal of this research is to provide Katalan land cover map for investigating land use changes during 12 years in this area. Material and Methodology: For this purpose, satellite images such as Landsat ETM 2001 and OLI 2013 were used after performing necessary corrections whereas; GPS and topographic maps were implemented for surveying fields and gathering trained samples. Land cover maps were provided using supervised classification method with maximum likelihood algorithm. Findings: The results of this study revealed that the study area comprises six classes viz. irrigated farm land, rainfed farm land, bare land, rock stone, range land and mine class. The overall accuracy and kappa coefficient for 2013 map were estimated 86.11% and 0.82, respectively and theses values for 2001 land use map were 78.26%, and 0.71, respectively. Discussion and Conclusions: The results of this research revealed that the class of farm land, bare land and range land were increased 1.84%, 1.29%, and 1.21%from 2001 to 2013, and the class of rock stone and rainfed farmland were decreased 5.09%, and 0 .62%, respectively. Also, there was not mine class in 2001 but this class was 1.36% equivalent to 49.3939 hectare of the whole area in 2013. Manuscript profile

Background and Objective: Groundwater quality index is an important tool for determination of drinking water quality. The objective of this study was to assess and map groundwater quality index in Lordegan aquifer. Method: In this study, 32 agricultural wells were sampled for 4 times in 2010. pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, total suspended and dissolved solids, total hardness, nitrate, sulfate, chloride, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium were measured in each sample.  Using the measured values, groundwater quality index was calculated for each sample. Findings: Groundwater quality index varied between 44 and 74, indicating the suitable and moderate quality of water for drinking purpose.  Spatial pattern of groundwater quality index was best described by the Gaussian variogram and ordinary kriging was used for mapping the groundwater quality index.  Based on the groundwater quality index map, the larger part of the aquifer located in the northern side had a moderate quality and the smaller part located in the southern side had a suitable quality. Turbidity and electrical conductivity had the greatest impact on groundwater quality index.   Groundwater quality index was also lightly sensitive to these two parameters. Conclusion: Further studies are needed to determine the suitability of groundwater quality index in Lordegan aquifer and to calibrate groundwater quality index classification in aquifers such as Lordegan. The present article attempts to study the position of wisdom in Hegel and Molana's thoughts in analytical – comparative method. The goal is to express the view points and finding the similarities and the differences on whole wisdom and the way human relates the nature, Lord and the dialectic path. Hegel studies the applicable concepts of wisdom in his philosophical issues. The wisdom or wisdom has the nearest relationship with life in his view; because the wisdom is not a part beside other parts but an element which communicates with all parts. Molana has signified the capabilities as well as the wisdom shortcomings in all parts of “Mathnawi” and determines the borderline between praised and religious wisdom. Manuscript profile

The purpose was to evaluate the quality of life (QOL) and effective factors in Iranian cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.Materials &Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study including118 cancer patients who underwent chemotherapy at Qom chemotherapy Center and had inclusion criteria, that completed an Iranian version of the brief form of the WHOQOL assessment instrument and a demographic checklist. Data were analysed using SPSS-PC software, descriptive analysis, independent sample t-tests, one way ANOVA models, Tukey’s Post Hoc test and linear regression. Results: Most patients had a relatively average level of overall QOL. QOL scores were low in older and less educated patients, but these scores were not affected by the marital status or types of cancer. No significant regression was observed between duration of disease and treatment and mean QOL scores. Conclusions: Overall, patients in the present study had a relatively average level of global QOL that could be the impact of religious beliefs or family support on their quality of life. The results emphasize that older and less educated patients have lower QOL scores. These patients may require a greater level of support and education to improve their QOL. Manuscript profile

As a critical approach, post-colonialism has emerged in the field of cultural studies through recent decades. It is, in fact, a representation of a kind of reaction to the colonialism and its cultural, social and political impressions. Post-colonial studies rely on the function of cultural and cognitive factors, and intend to reveal the different methods the colonialist rulers have applied to colonize societies through the history. The unbalanced allocation of wealth and population played out especially during post-colonial era has caused the increasing of emigrations, which in turns, changes the language, the residency, the demeanor, and beyond them melts one’s identity. As a new phenomenon, immigration could be studied in the scope of post-colonial studies, and the present research aims first at introducing the principles of post-colonial theory and its elements, and secondly at investigating the works of the London-based Iranian emigrant writer, Rouhangiz Sharifian Manuscript profile

The purpose of this study was to identify undivorced men's intellectual and behavioral reactions after discovering their spouse's extramarital relationships. The research method was qualitative by descriptive phenomenological method. The research environment was all of betrayed men in Yazd province who had not divorced after their spouse infidelity, in 2019. Using purposive sampling, and snowball sampling, 12 participants were selected. The method of collecting data was semi-structured in-depth interviews, which were analyzed based on Colaizzi method, which is one of the phenomenological methods. The results showed that men's reactions were summarized in four main categories or themes: maladaptive immediate reactions, self-sacrifice, thoughtful arrangements and rumination. These main categories were divided into fifteen sub-categories. Thus, the reaction of betrayed men, from rational behaviors to high-risk emotional behaviors, reflects the fact that infidelity and extramarital relation of women can activate men's intellectual and behavioral reactions. In other words, it is possible that a spouse's annoying mental reaction may lead to high-risky behaviors and lead to worse events. Manuscript profile

The aim of this research was investigating understanding of Tehran’s second ‎elementary school students of the fraction concept (part-whole subconstruct) based on APOS and ‎SOLO theories. This study’s method was descriptive-survey ‎method, its statistical population was Tehran’s second elementary school students in the academic ‎year 1397-1398 and its sample was 598 people of the statistical population that selected by multistage sampling method. A test with an unusual task used for collecting data. The content validity of the research tools were confirmed by experts and scholars of mathematics education, and the reliability of the research tools was obtained based on Cronbach's alpha of 0.7. Results of this ‎study showed that students have a limited understanding of fraction’s concept and they have common misconceptions. The most common misconceptions ‎found include: (1) Disregarding the requirement of ‎equal parts in part- whole ‎subconstruct; 2- Understanding fraction in part- whole subconstruct as ‎the part-to-part ratio & 3- ‎Using approximate partitioning ‎to determine the exact fraction of the specified part.‎ Analyzing the responses based on the APOS theory also revealed students did not have ability to use this concept in dealing with unusual situations. In analyzing ‎the responses based on the Solo model, more than 60% of the responses were ‎in the multistructural level. The suggestions of this research ‎are not to over-emphasize the part -whole subconstruct, creating ‎equal opportunities for developing other subconstruct‎s of fraction and emphasizing on ‎conceptual learning of procedures and algorithms relative to fraction ‎concept in content and ‎opportunities presented to students.‎ Manuscript profile

Despite extensive studies on the relationship between diet type and its effect on equine biochemical factors, little is known about horse serum and plasma proteins following changes in diet from forage to forage mixed with concentrate. Acute phase proteins are a group of serum proteins whose concentrations increase in response to infections, inflammation, trauma, and neoplasia. Therefore, in the present study, we evaluated the serum levels of serum biomarkers, fibrinogen and total protein concentration along with the nutritional behavior of horses during diet change. For this purpose, two types of diets, including forage (first treatment) and mixture of forage with concentrate (second treatment) were used for each horse for fifteen consecutive days. Complete blood cell counts as well as serum levels of fibrinogen, haptoglobin and amyloid type A were measured before and after dietary changes. Serum fibrinogen, haptoglobin and amyloid A levels were significantly increased in horses of the second treatment group compared to horses in the first treatment group (p<0.05). There was also a statistically significant difference in the complete blood cell count due to the change of diet from forage to forage mixed with concentrate (p<0.05). It seems that changes in the natural flora of the horse's digestive tract following a change in diet can protect the animal's body against acute inflammatory and traumatic injuries. The purpose of the paper is surveying multi-dimensional approach to subjective well-bein.by using Van Praag, et al (2003) model. Therefore, satisfaction from life has been modeled as a function of satisfactions in finance, job, health, habitation, leisure, and living environment and by COLS method, on the base of data from the questionnaire for a sample including 180 individuals of Ilam university’s faculty members and staff was estimated. The results show that satisfaction with life as a whole for the staff is also a function of finance, health and living environment satisfaction, while it is only a function of financial satisfaction for the faculty members. The results, also, suggest that in various life aspects, lack of satisfaction with life cannot be explained solely by income components. So, it is suggests to protective institutes that prohibit to solely welfare plans and instead of them, provide more comprehensive protective packages.     Manuscript profile

This paper presents the optimal participation of distribution networks and energy hubs in the day-ahead wholesale and retail energy markets. The proposed scheme is a two-objective optimization model. In one objective function, it minimizes the energy cost of electricity, gas, and heating network as private distribution companies in the mentioned markets. In another objective function, it minimizes the energy cost (equal to the difference between selling and purchasing energy) of hubs in the retail market. This scheme is subject to optimal power flow formulation in the mentioned networks, and the operation model of sources and active loads in a hub format. Then, the Pareto optimization based on the weighted functions method according to the fuzzy decision is used to achieve the optimal compromise solution. Finally, by implementing the proposed scheme on a system test, the obtained simulation results confirm the capabilities of the scheme in improving the economy of energy hubs and the economic and operation situation of the mentioned networks. Rice production in most of Asian countries has been increased more rapidly than population and this has been led to increase in supply and proportionately decrease in the real price of rice in world and domestic markets. Furthermore, together with growth in production and national gross income of the country per-capita income has been increased and also demand for rice at national and international level quality has been increased. In this case studying the market conditions of different qualities of rice including marketing margins, causative relations among the prices, market integrations in long term and finally price transferring and market integration in short term is the important consequence that can help policymakers and planners in their decision makings on research, production, distribution and marketing of rice strategic product. So, using the statistics from Jihad Agriculture Organization of Guilan Province in case of the price of rice qualities (items) including Sadri momtaz (S1), Sadri darge yek (S2), Sadri mamooli (S3) and Khazar (K1) during 1999-2009 market conditions of different qualities of rice was studied. Results show that impulses in wholesale prices in Khazar rice rapidly influence on-farm prices, however, in case of other rice qualities the rate and speed of this influence is low. But in wholesale-retail market for Sadri quality rice impulses influence strongly in wholesale price and this shows intense integration of these two rice markets in Iran. It is suggested that according to the different quality of rice verities, support policy design and decision making process assigned separately Manuscript profile

Background & Objectives: Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc) is the causal agent of citrus bacterial canker. In Iran, for the first time, Alizadeh and Rahimian reported the presence of Xcc on Mexican lime (C. aurantifolia), in 1990. Early characterization data suggested the presence of both wide (pathotype A) and narrow (pathotype A* and Aw) host range Xcc strains in Iran. However, more recently a discriminant analysis of MLVA-31 and MLVA-14 data in 2014 showed that Iranian strains of Xcc have genetically belonged to the host-restricted pathotype A* but not to the pathotype A. This study was aimed for genomic characterization and phylogenetic analysis of a narrow-host-rang Iranian strain of X. citri sub. citri, NIGEB-88.Materials & Methods: To determine genetic characteristics and phylogenetic relationships of Iranian strains, Illumina sequencing method was used to obtain a draft genome sequence of Xcc strain NIGEB-88.Results: General features of Iranian strain such as genome size, number of plasmids, average genomic GC content, number of CDS and structural RNA were similar to those of other Xcc pathotypes. Furthermore, studies of various potential virulence and host range determinants factors such as type III secretion system effectors, type IV secretion system and surface Lipopolysaccharides revealed that this pathogen is very close to XccA and XccAw strains. Conclusion: Phylogenetic and assessment of genes related to virulence and host specificity showed that XccA*NIGEB-88 is more closely related to other Iranian strain, XccA*NIGEB-386, and narrow-host-rang pathotype A*.           Abstract This article is devoted to the study of the impact of a reform in power plant fuel prices on the key variables of Iran's electricity market (average electricity price and the financial balance of the electricity industry). It is based on a simulation model. In this regard, we employed a model in which the presence or absence of competition in the electricity market is based on the amount of power plant storage factor that is available in every hour. The corresponding critical storage factor, which is based on actual operation, is also calculated. Due to a suppressed price cap and availability rate (that is even lower than what is necessary for sending optimal investment signals), the current price cap and availability rate is not a valid starting point for calculating the desired effects. Hence, before examining the effects of a price reform on the mentioned variables, the price cap and availability rates need to be adjusted to a level that can guarantee a minimum IRR for investors in this sector. According to calculations, in order to sending the necessary signals for investment, by assuming a fixed availability rate, it is necessary to increase the current price cap (nearly 417 Rials per kilowatt hour) to a new level (570 Rials per kilowatt hour). According to that, the average wholesale market price will increase from nearly 600 Rials per kilowatt hour to 706 Rials per kilowatt hour. The implementation of this policy imposes a financial burden of about 29894 billion Rials to the Ministry of Energy. Given that, in markets amid with a price cap (and hence an availability payment), a price reform in fuel price, requires a proportional modification in the market price cap. Based on this obligation, the effects of the price reform on the mentioned variables, is calculated and analyzed. The analysis is based on three different scenarios about fuel price for power plants; The price of gas used in the petrochemical industry (as a raw material for this industry), the price of gas that is exported to Turkey, and, the minimum bound foreseen in the "law on the targeting of subsidies" in relation to the price of natural gas. Implementation of the mentioned scenarios will increase the market cap from 570 Rials per kilowatt hour to 1783, 3655 and 2830 Rials per kilowatt hour respectively. Adjusted average market price, proportional to the adjustment made in the market price cap, would be equivalent to 1922, 3801 and 2973 rials per kilowatt hour respectively. Furthermore, the financial burden corresponding to these scenarios will be 61717, 156574 and 114866 billion Rials respectively. Manuscript profile

Although, the contracts are binding, but in some occasions, due to some reasons, one of the parties may decide to cancel a contract. A cancellation of contract results in termination of a contract and its effects. The important point regarding the cancellation of a contract is that, if, after concluding a contract and before cancellation, a transferee take the possession of an object of transaction as a transferor, for example, if they sell an object of transaction to a third party, what may be the effects of cancellation of the contract on the alienable possession? Dose it results also in cancellation of the selling, or, principally, the transferee might not to do the transferring acts? And, as the consequence, the transaction is invalid? There is some disagreement among the lawyers and jurisprudents on the interpretations of Iranian law and Imamieh jurisprudence. Although, there is less disagreement on the interpretations of legal cancellations of contracts, and, principally, the jurisprudents and lawyers both believe that this cancellation has no effects on the validity of the selling. Then, the transferee should return the object of transaction to the transferor. But, on the contractual powers, including option of condition, there is disagreement between the lawyers and the jurisprudents. Some of them believe that in those options of conditions there is an implicit condition that one against whom an option is stipulated may not take possession of an object, including the possession of the object of a transaction, by violation of conditions, otherwise, the transaction is invalid. Some other believe that, regarding the mentioned options of conditions, unless it is expressly stipulated otherwise, one against whom an option is stipulated may not take possession of an object of transaction. Congenital hypoplastic anemia or Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA) usually occurs in the first year of life, and most patients with DBA survive until the age of six. For every one million live births, five to seven babies are affected by this disease. In 80-85% of cases, this disorder is caused by mutation of the ribosomal protein gene, and in about 25% of these cases, the RPS19 gene is the cause of this condition. The defect of this gene can disrupt the balance of blood cells, which appears as normocytic anemia, severe anemia, and macrocytic changes, along with a decrease in reticulocytes in the bone marrow. Patients need long-term corticosteroids. Whole exome sequencing of the blood sample of a patient with DBA was performed. The pathogenic mutation was investigated in the patient, his family and 30 people. The three-dimensional structure of the protein was evaluated using homology modeling and the interaction of the mutated protein with other proteins in the 40S ribosomal subunit. Peripheral blood test revealed a mutation on exon 3 of PRS19 gene (H42fs c.126-127 ins TA NM-00102) and chromosomal region 19q13.2. This mutation was autosomal dominant, during which amino acid number 42 of histidine was converted into a stop codon and a shortened protein was produced. The behavior of this protein with the PRS18 gene in healthy and mutated states shows that when the mutation occurs in PRS19, the amino acids Leu45, Ala46, Pro47, Tyr48, Asp49, Glu50 and Trp52, which are important residues connected are converted to RPS18, they are no longer present in this protein. Therefore, the binding of truncated RPS19 to RPS18 is significantly reduced. Although it seems that the presence of these residues may not prevent the interaction of RPS19 with RPS16 in the mutant state, it is possible that the mutant protein disrupts the spatial arrangement of other proteins and affects the interactions. affect them. AbstractChildren with autism have difficulties such as impaired social interaction and communication skills, sensory processing, and impaired motor function and balance, which balance is one of the basic abilities of daily life. This study aimed to study the effect of whole-body vibration on static and dynamic balance in children with Asperger's autism. The population of this quasi-experimental study was 20 juniors aged 8 to 10 years with Asperger's autism in Rasht city, who were randomly divided into control and experimental groups. These children took part in the whole-body vibration training program 3 sessions per week for 6 months. There were two balance tests to investigate balance disorders of the subjects before and after the training program. The flamingo test was used to measure static balance, and likewise, the heel-toe walking test was used to measure dynamic balance. The results of the independent t-test showed that the experimental group had a significant increase in static and dynamic balance compared to the control group (p<0.05). Intragroup changes showed that there was a significant difference between static and dynamic balances in the pre-test and posttest of the experimental group (p <0.05), but no significant difference was observed in the control group (p> 0.05). In conclusion, whole-body vibration training seems to affect static and dynamic balances, and children with autism can use this technique to improve their balance beneficially.  Manuscript profile

Karakul (KAR) is one of the resistant sheep breeds to harsh desert conditions, which is also known for its excelent lamb pelt quality. This study was performed to identify the signature of selections in the KAR breed using whole-genome sequencing data (WGS) compared with five other Iranian native sheep. Three methods, including population differentiation index (Fst), nucleotide diversity (π), and cross-population extended haplotype homozygosity (XP-EHH) applied to detect the genomic signature of selection. Data analysis leads to identifying 38 shared genes among three methods as positively selected genes for the KAR breed. The most of mentioned genes were associated with coat color (KIT, DVL3, YPEL3, ERBB4, ZNF451, and CTSO), fat and energy metabolism (GDPD3, STARD13, ZNF106, MAPK3, RGS6, PHYH, AP2M1, SPAG9, DNAH9, NDUFAF6, and ARSK), muscle function (MYOCD and MCTP1), growth (CPNE4), altitude adaptation (DNAH9 and SERGEF), and reproduction (TBX6, PHYH, SPAG9, and ARSK). Based on our results, these candidate genes may have a positive effect on the adaptation of the KAR breed to a desert environment. Manuscript profile
