Author’s Guide
The Journal of Mixed-Methods Studies in English Language Teaching (MMSELT) is an open access journal. All published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication.
The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, where both reviewers and authors remain anonymous.
Publication is free of charge for all international authors. A modest Article Processing Charge (APC) applies only to manuscripts submitted by authors based in Iran, to cover local publication costs.
Manuscript Preparation
Style
All manuscripts must adhere to the APA 7th manual style guide. This includes formatting for in-text citations, reference lists, tables, figures, and headings.
Submission Types
The journal accepts two types of manuscripts:

Original Mixed-Methods Research Articles (7,000–8,000 words including references) that:
-
Demonstrate a unique contribution to MM research supported by a substantive literature review.

Fit the definition of MM research by collecting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data.
-
Provide a design figure of the MM procedures.
-
Explicitly integrate the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study.
-
Show clear contributions to the field of applied linguistics and/or English language teaching.
-
Discuss how the study advances MM research literature.
Manuscripts that do not demonstrate methodological integration or a novel MM contribution will be rejected.

Methodological / Theoretical Research Articles (3,000–4,000 words including references) that advance understanding of MM research by addressing:

Research and evaluation questions

Types of designs
-
Sampling or measurement procedures
-
Approaches to data analysis and integration
-
Validity and research integrity
-
Software applications
-
Paradigm stance
-
Writing approaches
-
Ethical issues and quality in MM research
Methodological/theoretical manuscripts that lack a clear methodological contribution or sufficient literature review will be returned to authors.

Ethical Standards
The journal adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are required to:

Submit only original work that has not been published elsewhere.

Ensure accurate citation of sources.

Disclose all conflicts of interest.

Obtain ethical approval for studies involving human participants (where applicable).
All submissions will be screened for plagiarism by the editorial office using similarity detection software (e.g., iThenticate).
Supplementary Documents
Authors must submit the following along with their manuscript:

Copyright & License Agreement Form (signed by all authors)

Conflict of Interest and Source of Funding Form (signed by the corresponding author)
Authors are encouraged (but not required) to ensure language accuracy by using tools such as Grammarly or professional editing services prior to submission.
Submission Checklist
Before submitting, ensure that:

The manuscript has been anonymized for double-blind review.

A separate title page includes: full article title, short title, full author names, affiliations, corresponding author details, and manuscript metadata (word count, number of tables/figures, supplementary files).

Abstract, keywords, abbreviations, tables, figures, and captions follow APA 7th edition guidelines.

The manuscript is within the specified word limit.

References are properly formatted according to APA 7th edition.

The manuscript has been proofread and checked for spelling/grammar (American English only).
Open Access & Fees

Open Access: All articles are freely accessible immediately upon publication.

International Authors: No publication fees.

Iranian Authors: A modest Article Processing Charge (APC) applies. Details of the fee structure are available on the journal website.
