Humans, as social beings, engage in various levels of qualitative and quantitative social interactions. While many existing structures primarily focus on functional needs and often overlook human factors, housing plays a crucial role in this context. This research aims to address the following questions: What are the criteria and design principles for social interactions within such spaces? How can housing with appropriate functionality and desired spatial quality be designed, considering its architectural components, to meet users' needs? This study is a descriptive-analytical research conducted through a survey method, and it is practical in nature. Some of the human and environmental variables influencing social interactions were extracted from library documents and studies. Among these, fourteen important factors were selected as the basis for this research, prioritized by architects and sociologists among the faculty members of some reputable universities in Iran. Therefore, by specifying the population, sample, and research tools, the roles played by selected variables in confirming or rejecting the research hypotheses were tested. Subsequently, using SPSS software, the selected variables, such as influential criteria in shaping interactions (e.g., permeability), and architectural components as secondary factors (e.g., spatial clarity), were prioritized. The result of this research process indicates that focusing on social interactions and the architectural components can contribute to enhancing the quality of life for residents and improving social connections in contemporary Iranian housing. Additionally, recommendations are made for housing designers to help improve social interactions in Iranian contemporary housing. Manuscript profile

Population growth and housing demands have caused the cultural aspects of public spaces have been ignored in modern housing. Paying attention to open spaces is necessary as they are places to establish social interaction and thus increase the social security and create a sense of responsibility among residents. The main objective of this study is to find a way for the appropriate design of open spaces in high-density residential communities in order to promote a sense of place and community identity. In the first phase of this research, documentary studies are used to understand the basic definitions and information about the sense of place and its determinants. In the next step, survey method and Delphi technique are being applied to collect data. Experts were invited from faculty members of Shahid Beheshti’s Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, and IUST’s School of Architecture and Environmental Design. For the data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used with the software SPSS version 21.0. According to the findings of this research, factors such as low-density of apartment, reduction in the height of the side with better vision, the view into green space, constant and adequate lighting at night, developing a safe walking route along the public spaces and the arrangement of the public spaces between blocks have a significant impact on fostering a sense of place in a residential environment. Using interior yards or green areas can help to enhance a sense of place. Trees or natural elements can be used in creating public spaces. The results show that existence of natural elements in open and semi-open spaces can create a sense of place effectively. Manuscript profile

Landscape design involves functional as well as perceptive and imaginative aspects of space. It is this particular combination, which is essential to making contemporary landscapes more attractive. Legibility is a quality of the environment that clarifies the city and makes the city's image better remembered. In urban parks, the components of spatial legibility can create different degrees of territorial behavior in citizens. According to Lynch's theory, these components include the legibility of paths, nodes, districts, edges, and landmarks. Therefore, the impact of urban parks legibility on several users and reaching a territorial behavior in these spaces formed the present study's focus. Territory refers to the part of urban spaces that individuals or groups regularly and consistently benefit from and protect against intruders and outsiders because of their sense of belonging and ownership of the area.Any personalization and marking in the environment or defense against harassment is considered a form of territorial behavior. Territorial behavior is one of the social dimensions of urban spaces. The quality and way of its occurrence are related to the quality of urban public spaces. In other words, citizens' attitudes and levels of territorial behaviors interact with the criteria by which they evaluate an urban public space as favorable, with high quality. Strengthening territories in parks create an environment that will give users a sense of belonging and ultimately lead to increased social interactions in the urban environment. The purpose of this research is to study the process of the impact of legibility and how to apply methods to improve territorial behavior in urban parks. This research used a descriptive-analytical research method, followed by a survey to serve the empirical research aspect. The paper claims that the proper path widths, recognizable entrances, distinguished districts, and the ease of comprehension of the space are useful and considered by the citizens to be very desirable and necessary to create legibility. Also, having different people in a park and being comfortable and flexible is one of the most vital factors in enhancing the sense of ownership and defensiveness of a place. To enhance territoriality and understand the space, it is necessary to consider the criteria by which citizens evaluate legibility because of differing the legibility assessment criteria in diverse parks. The design of spaces should also consider the citizens' diversity and cultural differences and create spaces appropriate to the people who use that place, following the social and cultural context. The results show that legibility indicators must exist together in one space to make that space understandable from citizens' viewpoint. Moreover, this understanding will ultimately enhance the sense of ownership and territory. Physical legibility is analyzed through variables such as geometry, spatial structure and configuration, visual barriers and disruptions, access capabilities, underlying architectural components of routing and path recognition, node, edge, district, landmark or landscape, and quantitative and syntactic legibility. Compared to related research, the innovation aspect Conceptual modeling and extraction of readability mechanisms and processes (factors on components) in urban parks are other unique aspects of the study. 8 - The Effect of Open Spaces of Residential Complexes on the Social Interactions of Residents, (Case Study: Three Residential Complexes in Isfahan)

Iranian patterns of construction have changed severely in the last decades, due to the increasing urbanization processes, as in many other countries worldwide, Demands for large scale building constructions decreased the sensitivity and accuracy of the Architectural designs. Lack of appropriate concern and consideration for human needs and the subsequent psychological effects on modern residential designs in Iran causes many complications in social and individual life. Among the most important human needs, which have been neglected in the modern Iranian designs, we can mention the needs for privacy and social interactions. Today, based on a wide verity of reasons people are required to live a collective life in the form of “multi-unit building”. However they are not only deprived from the advantages of this kind of social life, but also they consider this situation, as a compromise to their privacy and individuality. This also contributes to the problems of relationship between the residents. In fact, there should be a solution to establish a balance between the social interaction and privacy of people living in such a situation. On the other hand, in Iran, being neighbors is traditionally considered as a close functional and emotional relationship. Therefore, the roots of the current cold relationships in residential environments should be looked for in the lack of consideration in the design of the neighborhoods and buildings. Also, In  the contemporary architecture of Iran, following the decline of open spaces in residential architecture, and converting them to a route for moving cars, not only these spaces are not adequate to satisfy social needs but cause the cutting of social relations in the neighborhoods. So, considering the importance of relationships and social interactions between humans and ignoring that in modern designs, as for the lacking of  such researching in the country, this study will improve the social interactions of residents and enhance  neighborly relations by examining and understanding the factors in the design of open spaces in residential complexes. This study is the type of applied-survey research, after explaining the various aspects of social relationships among humans, investigates the effect of environment and the role of open spaces in increasing the social interactions of residents. And in the process of this review has been used the comments from residents of three residential complexes in Isfahan for quantitative assessment. These residential complexes have different patterns of design; “Zeitoon complex” is an example that has been attended to the type of landscaping design and creation of open spaces. “Moshtagh complex” is another complex that has a wide outdoor space but considering the various factors in the design of open space can be seen less. “Aftab complex” is the third complex that has no open space. After analyzing the questionnaires responses, findings show that various factors such as socially homogeneous of residents and use of effective design patterns for creating the safe, attractive and convenient environment for the presence of family members in open spaces of complex has considerable impacts in relationships and social interactions of the neighborhoods. Among different types of housing, high-rises construction is considered by many architects and urban planners as one of the most common types, especially after the industrial revolution and advancements in engineering techniques. Construction of tall buildings from its beginning as a result of modern architecture, for reasons like speed of construction (industrialization), high density (accommodation of more people) etc. grew considerably, but gradually it caused other types of problems including mere consideration of performance, less human interaction, and etc. on the one hand, today, any lack of attention to social interactions in designing process has been changed into one of the major challenges at residential complexes. On the other hand, we have establishment of residential complexes as an effect of population increase, expensive price of land and also economic benefits in our country which may cause further changes in structure of residential spaces and omission of interacted spaces from Iranian architecture. The results are lack of responding to social necessities of people and a reduction in sense of place. Residential apartments have different aspects that should be consistently considered in all stages of their construction, including planning, studies, design and operation, in order to achieve a desired environment and improvement in quality of life. One of the most important factors in evaluating residential complexes is social sustainability that enhances quality of living. In definition "social sustainability in residential complexes is a situation where residents enjoy living in the residential complexes and neighborhood with other residents and they are satisfied”. In other words, human is a social creature and to meet their needs they have to communicate and interact with others. Therefore, considering psychological - social factors besides other indicators like economic and environmental-physical factors are important  for achieving satisfaction as the main criteria for measuring quality of life. In this paper, using field study and questionnaires, social interaction rates in several residential complexes have been evaluated and its objective is evaluation of socio - cultural indicators in residential complexes, determining the position of design in improving social interactions, explaining the role of social interaction in improvement of living quality and finally presenting strategies in this area. In this context, at first the concept of social interactions in housing area and views of scholars in this field have been reviewed and then position of social interactions in the design process to achieve the criteria for comparison of case samples have been analyzed and then considering the results some strategies have been presented at the conclusion. The results indicate that there is always a direct relationship between the amount of social interaction and higher quality of living environment. Moreover, it can be said that the more social factors are considered in the design process, the more willingness of residents to the social interactions are seen and residents feel more satisfaction with their buildings. Communication and social interaction among residents as one of the most important social factors affecting collective living always increase the sense of belonging and continuity of presence in places. success rate of urban spaces, especially modern commercial complexes, is proportional to the amount of use of that space and the presence of people in it. In fact, the improvement of the urban space should seek to increase social interactions instead of separation. But what we are facing today in most of the urban spaces is the reduction of relations and social participation of the residents in these spaces. In this research, the evaluation of social effects is proposed based on the fuzzy matrix. In building the evaluation matrix, the main activities of the project in the exploitation phase, as well as the important social and cultural indicators, are determined using the fuzzy Delphi method, and the importance of each effect is estimated in the form of triangular fuzzy numbers. The results of the evaluation based on the proposed model show that the sub-index of "setting the environment for family presence in the urban space" with a score of 0.754 has the highest effectiveness from the activities of the modern business and entertainment complex. Among the effective activities, "the place of construction of the commercial complex" with a score of 0.784 had the greatest effect on the sub-indices of social interactions. As a result, based on this social impact assessment model, in order to promote social interactions, it is necessary to adopt the necessary strategies and policies in the field of family presence in modern commercial spaces, as well as the appropriate location of the construction of these complexes. Today, cyberspace activities and capabilities are recognized as an integral part of enhancing the quality of life. This has made identifying and analyzing the performance of individuals in the business interactions of this space an important part of marketing studies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of internet shopping sites in daily life. Behaviors that arise in the form of a tendency to shop without planning online or to insist on shopping online without planning. One of the new cognitive responses addressed in this study is trans-social interactive behaviors. This applied research with a descriptive-correlation approach has investigated these behaviors. The statistical population of this study is customers of DigiKala online store (Alborz province). Data were collected by a questionnaire and analyzed in two parts: descriptive and inferential. The results show that enhancing product appeal through shape and color enhances people's enjoyment of the product. Similarity among users also has a positive impact on the formation of users' social interactions in the social business environment. Therefore, the closer buyers are to each other in terms of age, ethical characteristics, level of education, and income, the more and more societal interactions occur between them. Based on these results, Internet product and service vendors can better market share by classifying the market according to its characteristics. Manuscript profile

The creation of architecture as a practical art is influenced by culture and social conditions in addition to geographical and climatic factors. The space of a rural house is a space consisting of the omnipresence of humans in the fluid flow of life. Since this presence includes all aspects of his life, it has a role beyond a residential space for the users. Based on the results of the studies of the Gilan Rural Heritage Museum project, the cultural-architectural area of Gilan is divided into nine sub-areas without considering the country and political divisions, which consist of two major areas, East and West, with four sub-areas: coastal, plain, foothills, mountainous and Central plain. In this article, the sample houses studied in the western area and in the three sub-branches of foothills, plains and coastal plains have been selected in a purposeful way and research has been done based on them. The purpose of  this research is to develop the boundaries of knowledge, to identify and introduce the desirable body of sociable architecture, and to search for the social relationship between humans through space and architectural body. The examined physical elements include four elements, a room on the ground floor, an Ivan, a Telar and a room on the upper floor, which were examined from the foothills to the plains and coastal plains. The research method used in this descriptive-analytical research is based on a case study, and the space syntax method and "A-graph" analytical-statistical software were used to analyze the data. Also, the findings show that in the comparison of physical elements, the porch in the sample of Sahel has a high level of connection, which makes it the most interactive element of the physical space. In today's context, the issue of identity in urban public places remains a significant concern for mankind. The spiritual aspirations of individuals and their reflection in the design of public buildings are pivotal for identifying these spaces. Therefore, designers can contribute to the restoration of citizens' collective identity by emphasizing physical and functional quality, aiming to increase social interactions and facilitate cultural and social events in public spaces. This article employs a combined method, integrating a descriptive approach to explain the key quality criteria of urban collective spaces and a survey method to determine the relationship between variables and the intensity of their impact. Seven key criteria emerge as crucial for shaping, validating, and recognizing the identity of a place from the audience's perspective within collective spaces. To expound on these criteria, a total of 31 sub-criteria and 34 criteria are considered, analyzing the impact of various variables in relation to the study's scope. Ultimately, by discerning the effects of these factors on enhancing the identity of collective spaces, the article provides insights into the intensity of each variable's impact and a metric for measuring the improvement of urban collective spaces. In recent century, the urban population exceeded the rural population for the first time in the history. The increase of the urban population has forced the planners and policy-makers to develop the cities and establish new cities for the settlement of population overflow of the metropolises. The consequences of such a rapid growth on the one hand, and the results of the researches that show the dissatisfaction of the citizens with the policies of the urban development on the other hand, have made the urban managers and policy-makers look for the solution of the problems that are imposed by the development of the cities and establishing new cities worldwide. Meanwhile, the urban public spaces are critically important because they are accessed by all citizens and are regarded as the context of the social actions. An overview on the Iranian new cities shows the failure of the authorities in creating qualitatively desirable spaces. Indeed such cities have only formed for settling the overflow of the population of metropolises without paying attention to the urban qualified public spaces, and thus they have considerable effects on the mental and physical health of the citizens. Focusing on the concept of environmental quality and its effective components, this paper attempts to find the effective factors on the increase of the quality of public spaces in new cities. Considering the nature of the data, we have used descriptive and correlational research. The results of studying Parand New City of Iran shows that, there is a significant relationship between the level of accessibility to the space, personal characteristics of the citizens, and the increase of the quality of urban public spaces in the new cities. The urban culture, due to density, heterogeneity, and relative lack of close personal relations, has made human relationships very unclear, superficial and transient. For this reason, the main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the urban culture and social interactions in urban spaces in Malayer. It is a survey-analytical research. On the basis of Cochran formula, using a multistage sampling method, 385 individuals were selected as the sample, therefore the unit of analysis was the individual. The data gathering tool was a standardized questionnaire with a reliability of 0.826. Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression were used for data analysis. The findings showed that there was a direct and significant relationship between urban culture and social interactions. But this relationship differs between the components of urban culture (altruism, law-abiding, responsibility, individualism, attention to the environment, alienation) and social interactions. Responsibility had the strongest and law-abiding had the weakest relationship to social interactions and the relationship between altruism and social interactions was negative. According to Beta values, responsibility (0.382) had the greatest effect and altruism (-0.095) had a negative and least effect on social interactions. The final results showed that there was a significant relationship between urban culture and social interactions and the power of determinacy and predicting value of urban culture on social interactions is very strong (0.646). With proper planning, education and cultural investment, social interactions in urban spaces can be optimally directed and with a redefinition of modern urban culture and Iranian identity, we can witness the rise of altruism and law-abiding in urban interactions. Nowadays, the question of the identity and the social life is an important issue of the urban life. Several elements can affect the field of the identity and the social problems of the citizens. One of the most important ones is the urban view. In the past, commercial spaces have grabbed the audience's attention and are one of the most dynamic urban spaces. The cities' traditional markets (bazaar) are one of the most prominent examples. Today's shopping centers and commercial spaces have their roots in ancient markets. Today, these centers have turned into multi-purpose commercial complexes, and this variety of activities has added to the vitality of these spaces. The present research aimed to investigate commercial complexes' quality and vitality components. The research hypotheses state that paying attention to the physical aspects of architecture in a commercial complex effectively improves the vitality component, increases the presence of people, and increases their satisfaction. On the other hand, increasing the dynamism and vitality level in commercial complexes significantly stimulates the sense of audience presence and social interactions. The research method is descriptive, analytical, and survey, and the data collection tools include documentary studies and written sources, objective observations, field observations, and questionnaires. The highest relative frequency and standard deviation were taken from Spss 20 software to analyze the main components of each variable. The results show that in commercial complexes, attention should be paid to the objective physical and conceptual aspects of perception to achieve social interactions that lead to dynamism and vitality. Using the components mentioned above in a complex is effective on the quality of spaces, stimulates people's sense of presence, improves social interactions, and will be effective in satisfying people.
