Despite the increasing use of Aloe vera in aquaculture, toxicity and possible side effects have not been studied in rainbow trout. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of some tissue change in farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchusmykiss) fed with feed containing 1% of hydro-alcoholic extract of Aloe vera. Six hundred pieces’ healthy fish, average means 13 grams were randomly allocate into 2 groups, including Aloe vera extract-treated (1%) and control (placebo 1%), each of triplicates. Their feed has been previously prepared. At the end of the tenth week, 2 fish pieces was caught in each replicate. After anesthesia, the fish were autopsied. The liver, intestine, kidney and gills of fishes were removed. Specimens were fixed in 10% formalin, stained by using Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E). Finally, prepared tissues were evaluated by optical microscopy. The results were no shown any changes in intestinal histology in the Aloe vera extract-treated group. However, melanomacrophage centers development was observed in liver and kidney in some fish's Aloe vera extract-treated. Such limited tissue changes were natural reaction of studied tissues to the foreign matter (xenobiotics). Some of the gill specimens in both groups showed epithelial cells hyperplasia in primary gill lamella, which is no related to medicinal treatment. It was possibility concern to environmental conditions and water quality. Based on the above findings, it seems that the selected dose of Aloe vera extract has not been detrimental to vital organs of fish in this research study. Manuscript profile

Introduction: Aloe vera gel has many applications in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Aloe vera leaf contains valuable materials such as pectin which its extraction can be beneficial from economic and environmental aspects. Materials and Methods: The overall objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of three variable temperatures (35, 65 and 95), time (40, 120 and 200) and pH (1, 2 and 3) on the yield, the galacturonic acid content and esterification degree of aloe vera leaf pectin. In order to study the physicochemical properties of the pectin, emulsion stability tests and FT-IR were applied. Results: According to the results, high pectin extraction yield from aloe vera leaf was 6.9% which was obtained at temperature of 95℃, time of 120 min and pH of 1. The highest galacturonic acid content of the extracted pectin of aloe vera leaf was 78.48%, at temperature of 65ºC, time of 200 min and pH of 1, The highest esterification degree of extracted pectin of aloe vera leaf was 53.410%, which was observed at temperature of 35ºC, time of 120 min and pH of 3. The highest emulsion stability of aloe vera leaf pectin was at 4 °C on the first day of production. FT-IR results also showed that the strong absorption in the area 3200-3500 cm-1 in the extracted pectin samples was related to intra-and extracellular vibration of the hydrogen bond in the galacturonic acid polymer. The pectin extracted from aloe vera leaf with molecular weight of 127 kDa after 30 days storage at 4 and 23 °C had 75% and 63% emulsification stability respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that pectin extracted from leaf lesions of aloe vera could be introduced as a marketable pectin source. Aloe (Aloe barbadensis Mill) is one of the most important medicinal plants belonging to Liliaceae family that nowadays is propagated by in vitro culture in high-scale propagation. Because of the impotance of the establishment stage in in vito culture of this plant, this study was conducted to investigate the best media culture for Aloe explants establishment. First, the prolifration rate of two kind of explants (Shoot tips and auxiliary buds) were evaluated on 8 media cultures and shoot tips selected as the best explants. Then, in order to determine the best media culture an experiment was conducted in factorail design with two factors: auxins in four levels (1 mgl-1 IAA, 0.5 mgl-1IAA, 1 mgl-1IBA, 0.5 mgl-1IBA) and cytokinins in two levels (BA and Kinetin at 1 mgl-1) in a complete randomised design with 3 replications. After 35 days the highest rate of prolifration earned on the media contained 0.5 mgl-1 IAA and 1 mgl-1 BA with 6.0 shoots per explant and 2.3 cm length, that is higher and faster than other related reports. Since on the stablishment stage of in vitro culture regnaration of the highest shoot number per explant with small size has considerable attention, this protocol suggestes an appropriate method for establishment of Aloe explants. In the present study, lemon essential oil was used as an additive to prepare aloe vera coating. Lemongrass essential oil was extracted by Clevenger and added to aloe vera gel. The results showed that the addition of essential oil to food coatings significantly reduced mesophilic bacteria during storage. Aloe vera gel / lemon essential oil coatings had a significant effect on weight loss. Also, coating the samples with aloe vera gel / lemon essential oil preserved the antioxidant properties of the samples. These properties indicate that coatings based on aloe vera gel / lemon balm essential oil are a good choice for the development of oral coatings. Manuscript profile

In this research, a new type of wound dressing based on polyvinyl pyrrolidone polymer (PVP) modified by extracted compounds from aloe vera (Av) was prepared by electrospinning method. After achieving optimal preparation conditions using experimental design method, the prepared material was characterized using infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. The results of the studies showed that by using the optimal conditions, smooth filament of PVP without node with the diameter of about 100 nm can be achieved. PVP-Av and PVP-Av-Film fiber diameter as well as fibers with a special therapeutic coating were about 105 and 120 nm, respectively with a suitable surface to volume ratio. The results of the investigations showed that the use of polymer coating on the wound dressing not only increase its mechanical resistance, but also increase the hydrophilicity of this wound dressing. In addition, the results of biological investigations showed that this wound dressing has very little toxicity for biological cells and can be used to treat skin edema. Manuscript profile

Aloe vera gel having beneficial compounds such as the eight essential amino acids, monosaccharides and polysaccharides, vitamins C, B12, B6, B2, B1, A, E and minerals, can be used as a valuable supplement and food rations used in natural aquatic environment. Effect of prescription of this crude extract of plant Aloe vera in Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus) with an average weight of 17.57 ±2.56  g were studied in this research. Therefore, 54 fish in three treatments, each with 3 repeats were used in this research. Two treatments included a concentration of 2 and 5% crude extract of Aloe vera plant which were added to the Biomar feed size of 0.8 mm used for Carnivore fishes. Samples were fed for 60 days with the fortified feed. The control sample feed were not fortified. The results indicated that feed fortification with plant extracts of Aloe vera makes a significant difference (p<0.05) in weight gain, growth factor and coefficient of obesity and reduced food conversion factor compared with controls, and increase in fortification showed an increased effect. No mortality was observed in both treatments. Fortified feed at 5% showed a better result as a whole. Manuscript profile

For study the genetic diversity of Aloe germplasm and identify the classification and relationship of germplasm collections and exploiting them in breeding programs, Thirty three Aloe accessions were collected. These accessions were including 31 wild genotypes and 2 commercial genotypes. Shoot tip explants were washed and sterile. Then, were inoculated on solid MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mgl-1 benzyl adenine + 0.5 mgl-1 α-naphthalene acetic acid and sub-cultured on the same medium for plantlet production and propagation once every four weeks. Plantlets were grown in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications in greenhouse. After six months, 18 morphological traits were measured and analyzed. Morphological analysis indicated that all the studied various characters have a significant difference at P < 0.01 among Aloe accessions. Also comparison of the means (Duncan’s test) for the genotypes was performed. Maximum amounts for most traits was related to genotype 29 which suggests the potential of this genotype for further studies. The results of orthogonal comparisons between genotypes of wild or native genotypes in a group and the control group showed that the genotypes for most morphological traits studied, there was no significant difference. Cluster analysis indicated that all accessions were divided into three major groups. There were commercial accessions in the third group, and the best wild accession (number of 29) was in this group that is representing high potential of this genotype. Manuscript profile

In this study, we have tried to make hydrogel films by polyvinyl alcohol and Aloe vera which used in treat wounds. The films were prepared by solvent casting method with different concentration of aloe vera include 20, 30 and 50%. Some properties of samples such as water absorption, degradation rate, water vapour transmission rate and mechanical properties were examined. Also, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) test were carried out in order to identify the bonds and morphological assessment in the samples, respectively. The results showed that with increasing of aloe vera concentration to 30% (PA30), water absorption rate, degradation rate and mechanical properties are increased. In according to SEM investigations, we found with aloe vera increasing, the porosity on surface of samples was increased. In the other hand, water vapour transmission rate have direct comparison with percentage of aloe vera concentration. Finally, cell cytotoxicity and morphology fibroblast cells (L929) attached on the samples surface evaluated by in vitro assay. The results showed that cells proliferated in greater numbers on the PA30 sample compared to other samples. Therefore, our results indicated that polyvinyl alcohol/Aloe vera hydrogel films are a good choice for use in wound dressing. Manuscript profile
