Purpose: One of the most important and fundamental issues in the world today is the issue of human health. Mental health or mental health, in addition to being the goal of every society, is also considered as a measure for the health of each individual of that society. Based on this, the present research presents a model for improving the mental health of faculty members of the Islamic Azad University of Tehran province
Method: The current research method is a mixed exploratory one and has a qualitative and quantitative approach. The statistical population in the qualitative part was 10 experts and thinkers and experts in the field of education and training in higher education and educational management and mental health, and in the quantitative part of this research, 334 members of the academic staff of the Islamic Azad University of Tehran province in the academic year of 2019-2019. 2018 were sampled by simple random method. A semi-structured interview and a researcher-made questionnaire were used to collect information, and the reliability obtained from the questionnaire was reported as satisfactory (0.82). The data obtained in the semi-structured interview section were analyzed using the coding method in the MaxQDA software environment, and then the questionnaire data were analyzed using the structural equation method and smart PLS software to present the model.
Findings: The coded findings showed 6 main components (moral character, quality of life, independence, control over the environment, positive feeling and productivity), 3 mediating components (job satisfaction, self-acceptance and interaction with the environment) and 2 moderating components (mental management and emotional health) were identified. The ranking of the path analysis results showed that job satisfaction is the most important factor in improving mental health with an impact of 0.567.
Conclusion: The results of the research showed that most of the factors for improving mental health are based on the environment and psychological states of the individual. There is a lack of information about the interventions that are made for faculty members. The results showed that policies that successfully promote the mental health of faculty members include participation in decision-making and provide opportunities to increase knowledge about mental health and well-being.
