Characterizing distributions is the process of finding the unique properties that distinguish a particular distribution from others. There are various methods for doing this, such as using moments, maximum entropy, hazard rate, and so on. Nanda (2010) used failure rate and mean residual life functions to characterizing some distributions. In this paper, we extend the results of Nanda (2010). We characterize the Pareto, exponential, and Rayleigh distributions by refining the main results of that paper. We take some inequalities from that paper and propose a new inequality. Then, we raise both sides of the inequalities to some power and show that equality holds if and only if certain distributions are characterized. تفاصيل المقالة

In the present investigation, Variational Iteration Method (VIM) is applied to solve the dynamic oscillation of a current-carrying wire in a magnetic field which is generated by a fixed current-carrying conductor parallel to the wire. Two linear springs are considered to restrict the wire to a rigid wall. In a special case, the periodic solution of the problem is obtained by VIM and compared with numerical solutions for different parameters. Results indicate high accuracy of this method which can be easily extended to solve other non-linear vibration equations, therefore can be applicable in other engineering problems. تفاصيل المقالة

In many situations, the performance and the changes of outputs related to dynamic systems should be estimated while the convexity property is relaxed. Accordingly, first, a dynamic free disposal hull (FDH) model is proposed in this paper to address the efficiency of processes in multiple period of time while the convexity assumption is unsatisfied. Also, two problems, including a mixed integer linear programming and a linear programming model are provided to compute the dynamic FDH model that is a mixed integer non-linear programming problem. Then the changes of multi-period outputs are dealt with for changes of inputs related to several periods using the proposed inverse dynamic FDH model while the efficiency levels are preserved. A case study of gas industry is, moreover, presented to demonstrate the introduced models. The results show the proposed technique is useful to analyze the performance and to estimate outputs in dynamic processes without including convexity. تفاصيل المقالة

This study proposes a method for solving mixed integer multi-objective fractional signomial geometric programming (MIMOFSGP) problems. A few methods have been applied in the recent past to convert a fractional signomial objective function into a non-fractional signomial objective function to find the optimal solution by use of some common mathematical programming techniques. In this paper, at first a multi-objective fractional signomial programming is converted into a non-fractional multi-objective signomial programming problem by a new convenient reformulation strategy. A convex relaxation is used to reach global solution and then fuzzy programming technique is applied to find the optimal compromise solution. A mixed integer compromise optimal solution of the convex programming problem can finally be found by use of nonlinear branch and bound algorithm. Then 0n using the Spacial branch and bound algorithm, we find a solution that has the shortest distance from the solution of original problem. Finally two illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the correctness and efficiency of the proposed strategy and compare the results with the other solutions obtained by the other methods. تفاصيل المقالة

Several authors have proposed different methods to find the solution of fully fuzzy linear programming (FFLP) problems. But all the existing methods are based on the assumption that all the fuzzy coefficients and the fuzzy variables are non-negative fuzzy numbers. in this paper a new method is proposed to solve an FFLP problems with arbitrary fuzzy coefficients and arbitrary fuzzy variables, that is, there is no restriction on the elements that have been used in the FFLP problems. By using the radius of gyration function (ROG) we show that fuzzy solution obtained of solving FFLP problems, is exact fuzzy optimal solution of FFLP problems. The introduce method are very easy to understand and to apply for fully fuzzy linear systems occurring in real life ‎situation.‎ تفاصيل المقالة

Generalized Returns To Scale has been introduced to compute the rate of variation in outputs to the variation in inputs up to the Most Productive Scale Size pattern. In this paper, we address the generalized RTS in the multiplicative models and we propose an algorithm to calculate the rate of variations in different intervals. We also demonstrate that the non-discretionary factors can be easily taken into account in the algorithm. تفاصيل المقالة

In this paper, we investigate the Single-Source Capacitated Multi-Facility Weber Problem. The aim is to locate several new facilities among existing customers and simultaneously allocate customers to the facilities. A Genetic Algorithm is proposed for solving the problem, in which a local search method is embedded. The proposed Genetic Algorithm is tested on existing data sets to evaluate its robustness over available methods in the literature. تفاصيل المقالة

DEA as an effective approach to evaluate the relative efficiency of DMUs, recently applied in many production and operation systems. This paper proposed a new k-stage DEA based MOLP model for target setting in the serial network structures, considering undesirable outputs. Since the proposed model takes the size of DMUs into account, the new idea ensures the possibility of the results. The results showed the applicability of the proposed plan. تفاصيل المقالة

‎Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an objective method for priority determination of decision making units (DMUs) with the same multiple inputs and outputs. DEA is an efficiency estimation technique, but it can be used for solving many problems of management such as rankig of DMUs. Many researchers have found similarity between DEA and MCDM techniques. One of the earliest techniques in MCDM is Quality Function Deployment (QFD) which is a team-based and disciplined approach to product design, engineering and production and provides in-depth evaluation of a product. The QFD team is responsible for assessing the relationships between costumer requirements (CRs) and design requirements (DRs) and the interrelationships between DRs. In practice, each member demonstrates significantly different behavior from the others and generates different assessment results, leading to the QFD with uncertainty. In this paper data envelopment analysis is used to overcome this uncertainty. Each member's subjective assessment is taken into account directly and a new data envelopment analysis method in group situation is constructed which differs from multi-objective decision making models. Then, without using Charnes-Cooper transformation, the proposed model is transformed into a linear programing problem in a completely different manner. We will call the proposed model "Grouped-QFDEA"‎.‎ تفاصيل المقالة

Data envelopment analysis (DEA), is a non-parametric mathematical programming technique to evaluate the efficiency of a set of homogeneous decision-making units (DMUs), so that DMUs are evaluated into two groups, efficient and inefficient. According to the staggering costs in order to managing DMUs or organizations, maintaining some loss-making organizations are not cost-effective. Therefore, one of the concerns of managers in the discussion related to the financial problems of organizations is the maintenance or merger or elimination of inefficient organizations (inefficient DMUs). However, this article focuses on the performance of inefficient units. Therefore, we measure the productivity of inefficient DMUs using the revised Malmquist productivity index (MPI) to make a decision based on the maintenance or merger or elimination of these DMUs by decision makers (DMs). تفاصيل المقالة
