In the last century, there has been a cultural challenge between Iran and the West, and after the Islamic Revolution, this issue has been in the form of a kind of alienation, clearly, laying the groundwork and creating a kind of "discourse tension"; In a way, along this challenge, "secular discourse" is opposed to "Islamic discourse" inside Iran. Influenced by this confrontation, the field of art and especially cinema has also witnessed the alignment of the above two discourses. The one-line thinking of the secular approach to the world paves the way for the formation of intellectual discourse along the stream of Persian film. Given the principles of the secular world, this discourse seeks to provide new definitions and elements. This article tries to explain the central and peripheral elements of intellectual cinema. Then, with the new method of "discourse semiotics", the analysis of the movie House on Water, which is a suitable representative for the discourse of intellectual cinema, will be analyzed. According to the findings of this study, the central element of this discourse is giving originality to the West And the surrounding elements of this discourse are: originality of form, Denigration and Disappoint, subjectivism, disregard for the innate feelings of the audience, functional view of religion, lack of attention to religion and relativism. Norms are in the position of power and seek victory, and make human to obey by creating domination over thought. The intellectual knows how to stand against bad norms and strive to achieve the desired intellectual conditions. In Herbert Blumer's "symbolic interactionism" methodology, human arises in the empirical world of society. In this sociological approach, the intellectual is a proactive whose action is based on interpretation in socio-political situations and whose role is defined in defending or rejecting norms. The "Her Eyes" novel shows a picture of the first Pahlavi’s history in which the "social self" is a combination of traditionalist and modern self. Group interests take precedence over individual’s. An intellectual is a modernist who is proactive in the struggle against the authoritarian political system. The "Blind Heart" novel narrates the first and second Pahlavi’s era. The "social self" in the mentioned novel is the passive and violent "self." In the world of novels, individual interests take precedence over social’s. The intellectual acts based on of kindness and peace confronting “social self”. Manuscript profile

Religious intellectuals after the revolution, by turning towards some European philosophical schools, such as analytical philosophy, adjusted their intellectual opinions based on them. Although their main discussion was to pay attention to religious categories such as "religious knowledge", "dynamic jurisprudence" and, in the political dimension, "religious government", their extra-religious attitude and headed by Abdul Karim Soroush were based on those schools. The two categories of language and the issue of interpretation are important components of this extra-religious view. The present study, with the aim of knowing these two components in the intellectual opinions of Soroush, based on what has been raised in the thought of philosophers such as Wittgenstein and Gadamer, deals with the question of what language and the problem of interpretation, in the thought of Wittgenstein and Gadamer, is a reflection in the intellectual opinions. Did they have a drink? By using a philosophical component of language and interpretation, Soroush pays attention to redefining the relationship between reason and religion in his intellectual views, and in the interpretation of holy texts and also religious foundations, he takes advantage of new exegetical achievements and the three categories of "religious knowledge", "jurisprudence" It offers "dynamic" and "religious democratic government" and it can be said that it does this with a kind of "dialogue" between the foundations of religious knowledge and the two categories of "language" and "interpretation". In a situation where the weaknesses of the Qajar dynasty were more indicative of a theoretical vacuum in the political sphere, the introduction of technology and technical products of the western civilization into Iran, without the entry of intellectual spheres and cultural products, seemed impossible. For this reason, new ideas came to Iran. Concepts such as law, liberty, parliament, and at the top of all liberalism entered into Iranian political literature in such a context. In dealing with Western civilization and seeing the remarkable differences of this alien creature, Iranians came to a different understanding of themselves and their society that was very different from the past. This distinction and a change in attitudes towards culture, politics and society are well seen in travelers' travels, travels and travels themselves. The point to be considered in these writings is their position on their culture and Western civilization. The result of the first acquaintances are the prescriptions they are giving to the treatment of their own pain, one of the most important of which was the transfer and promotion of liberalism and the attempt to rule it in Iran. Long before the victory of the constitutional revolution, in the aftermath of sending the first  groups of Iranian students to Europe and as a result of their acquaintance with foundations and basic concepts of modern thought, Iranian intellectual movement came into being. One of the devices to propagate modern ideas into Iran by these intellectuals was to publish newspapers. "Ghanoon", a newspaper published by Mirza Malkam Khan in London represented an important section of the intellectuals, and Iranian thinkers inside Iran were greatly influenced by ideas published in it. Mirza Malkom Khan, through the pages of "Ghanoon", propagated reform and development in the country's socio-economic and political structures based on a kind of limited and monitored liberalism. After the victory of the constitutional revolution an influential radical newspaper called "Sur-i Esrafil" was published by Mirza Jahangir Khan Sur-i Esrafil and Mirza Ali Akbar Khan Dehkhoda which represented the radical intellectuals. " Sur-i Esrafil", on one hand, believed in liberal political rights, and on the other hand, propagated a socialist program of economic justice. These radical intellectuals were mainly people of the middle class origin who believed in democratic radicalism. But, at the same time the constitutional revolution made it possible for a zealous ultra-radical group to enter the political spectrum, who did not have any relations with the modern intellectual movement and believed in the traditional Islamic egalitarianism. "Ruh ol' Qodos" published by Sheikh Ahmad Torbati, otherwise called Soltan ol'Olama Khorasani propagated the ideas of this group of egalitarian constitutionalists who wanted to gain justice from constitutionalism. What they perceived from justice was not just socio-economic and political structures, but only just actions and deeds performed by a just person Manuscript profile

This critical investigation addresses Arian marriage/marriage contract within the framework of post-Qajar Farsi language framework and deals with its functions in Iranian/Islamic family institution issues. In the context of the current research, the subject has been treated as a syndrome of (post-Qajarid anti-structuralist) Arianism. The research has also been shaped by an interpretation of Heideggerian linguistic approach (paradigmatic motor concept). We have argued that language is not only a field and instrument of research but it also is the essence of social existence and the house of being. Social realities also exist in and through language. Hence, Arian marriage contract has a linguistic reality and with its claims and linguistic excuses it should be understood within the context of post-Qajarid era. Using a grand theory perspective, the current research resulted in some axiomatic findings: it seems that this racist construct is fed by and is related to the linguistic products of other anti-structuralist constructs. This formal and functional relationship between Arian construct and other anti-structuralist constructs has threatened the very ethical/national security. Its explicit malfunctioning can be integrated with the internal and international affairs and finally result in destructionof the family institution and social order. It has been argued that political/ideological provocations can be combined with the dominant consumerist spirits, the propaganda from marriage service instituions and commodification of marriage ceremony in this post-modern atmosphere and facilitate the spread of Arian marriage in society. The research results indicate that the governments have provided the areas for emergence of novelty in the past two hundred years in Iran. They have often followed all technological and material aspects of novelty. Iranian clergy have played a role in making the ground for novelty under three groups of “proponents”, “opponents” and “critics”. Also, Iranian intellectuals have welcomed novelty in the form of “proof, criticism and rejection”. Intellectuals are among the social classes that create new forms of social, political, and cultural patterns and there is no denying the power of their transformation in society. The most important of an intellectual is their critical and questioning spirit and they also show a tendency to fight against the established powers. Its constituent forces can be clerics, journalists, teachers, professors, party activists, and artists. The main demand of these intellectuals was the establishment of a new European-style law system, the re-identification and national traditions of Iran, prohibiting clerics from interfering in politics and establishing new political institutions based on national sovereignty, and creating a modern national government. In examining the position of these forces in the era of Reza Shah, mostly the forces critical of the government and outside Reza Khani's political apparatus have intended to comment. Reza Shah's period is one in which important developments in the public and higher education, as well as movements in the modernization of the education system and higher education occurred in Iran. As a result, the enlightenment phenomenon manifests itself on a larger scale. The government's critical behavior eventually led to Reza Shah's strong reaction to them till the intellectuals were either imprisoned or attracted to Reza Shah's apparatus and due to the lack of public base, they were unable to make a significant impact on developments. In addition, Reza Shah was not optimistic about intellectual activities and that got the intellectuals out of the way individually, either organizationally or in groups Manuscript profile

Abstract Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) is the most prominent figure in the French sociology that put an end to the hegemony of social action and structuralize theories in the field of sociology. He propounded Structural Constructivist Theory of politics through dialectical relationships between "fields" and "habits". Bourdieu's broad socio-anthropological and interrelation approach to power stands as opposed to the traditional academic political science discipline which emphasizes on the actual and objective operation of the political institutions (one of the legacies of the behavior list school) as well as on the more visible aspects of governing operations (elections, laws, policies, parties, etc). By contrast, Bourdieu as a sociologist and anthropologist approached the topic of power by stressing the social and cultural bases of power at the micro-as well as macro- levels. Naturally, this complicated view may not neglect analyzing electoral and democratic politics as doxa (dominated common belief) in political filed. Based on his critical view to current electoral democracies, Bourdieu emphasizes that delegation of power and political representation, despite the presence of the media and the press, inevitably leads to usurpation and manipulation of democracy. What does Bourdieu suggests as an alternative to representative democracies as a dominated doxa in political field? Bourdieu propounds the idea of "Real Democracy" which includes different dialectical categories as an alternative way to democratization of democracy in current societies.    Manuscript profile

Cultural policy is one of the most important tasks of governments in changing society from tradition to modernity. These governments use force to modernize the culture, economy and society. In these governments, intellectual elites play an important role in cultural policy-making and determine the executive agenda of governments. After the establishment of the Pahlavi regime, cultural policy became one of the main programs of political elites in Iran and the intellectual elite provided them with new cultural ideas. The purpose of this study is to critique the cultural policies of the first Pahlavi period from the perspective of intellectual and political elites. Therefore, by studying their writings, an attempt is made to study the cultural characteristics of the Pahlavi regime in the political and cultural modernization of Iran. The results of the study show that Reza Shah's centralization policies were able to establish security in Iran and rule the central government in Iran instead of tribes and nomads. This centralism was the result of the efforts of intellectual elites who emphasized authoritarian nation-building in their writings. Authoritarian modernization in the first Pahlavi period intensified social and political divisions and confrontations between tradition and modernity in the coming decades in Iran. This research is descriptive-analytical and the necessary data have been collected by documentary-historical method Manuscript profile

Reza Khan getting into power is one of the main events of Iran contemporary history for which various factors have been proposed from interference of foreigners to the chaos of Iran after constitutional revolution. In this regard, the intellectuals who played significant role in making Reza Khan get into power through their intellectual and practical support should be mentioned. The intellectuals of this period considered the saving path of country in establishment of "authorized government", "expansion of nationalism" and "authoritarian modernization" by avoiding the constitutional ideals and perceived the satisfaction of these ideas in Reza Khan's personality. Thus, in their publications which they published until Reza Khan Kingdom, they pursued these ideas and were united in fulfillment of them through establishment of a superior and concentrated political power. Today, many studies have been conducted about the Islamic Revolution, and each of these studies has tried to examine the Iranian Revolution from a new perspective, but there is no consensus among researchers about the conditions for the victory of this revolution. The Iranian revolution, like other great revolutions, had significant effects both inside and outside. This revolution occurred during the Cold War and the bipolar international system and Iran's dependence on the Western camp led by the United States of America. The collapse of the Pahlavi regime raises the question of what force was able to transform Iranian society and how did Iranian intellectuals such as Jalal Al Ahmad and Ali Shariati play a role in creating a revolutionary ideology? This hypothesis is proposed for research that Jalal Al Ahmad and Ali Shariati, by focusing on the revival of local and religious traditions and creating symbolic capital, provided the grounds for the formation of a revolutionary ideology in Iranian society. To prove the hypothesis of the research, the symbolic capital theory of Pierre Bourdieu, a French sociologist, is used. The findings show that by producing the symbolic capital of Shia Islam, Iranian intellectuals succeeded in providing a revolutionary ideology to confront the Pahlavi regime and realize the victory of the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini.
