In the conditions where cultural and ethnic diversity in countries is undeniable, multiculturalists believe that, based on their opinions, and by recognizing the differences and requirements in policy-making, compatibility and strengthening of national solidarity can be achieved. Critics, on the other hand, challenge the foundations of these opinions, and some emphasize the necessity of a native perspective. Considering these criticisms and in the conditions where Iran has a lot of ethnic and cultural diversity, the application of multicultural policies needs more attention. Based on this, our main problem is to investigate and analyze the effects of multiculturalism in Iran. The main question is "What effect does multiculturalism have on the different approaches of minority groups?" To investigate the issue, quantitative survey method and questionnaire tool were used in Ahvaz city. The findings of the research show that the multicultural approach does not lead to the strengthening of national identity and social solidarity, but at the same time, it does not reduce the sense of responsibility of the members of different groups towards the responsibilities of national citizenship. Considering that it does not lead to the strengthening of the members of the minority groups towards their own culture, it can be said that these policies are undesirable or at least ineffective in practice in Iran, and the application of this approach should be reconsidered and further investigated.  Manuscript profile
