This article examines how concept as a lesson is taught in an architectural workshops. The idea and concept is the basis of design and its importance in providing innovative solutions by the architect is significant. A problem has to be found before starting the design. After finding the problem, search for the creative solution has begun. The challenge for the researcher has been to develop an innovative solution to architectural designers. This paper, in its proposed methods, has sought to improve the quality of architectural design education. Consequently, the concept is classified into two levels of macro and micro, and after identifying the training and skill needs for each of the levels of the concept, educational solutions are proposed based on the theory of Mise en Scene. The development of a concept in architecture can be created through the elements of the theory of Mise en Scene. The elements of the theory of Mise en scene are attention to the scene, light, angle of the camera, the arrangement of objects, the states of the actors, the costumes of the actors and the activities on the scene, all of which refer to the general idea that the atmosphere of film has made. This overall atmosphere of the film can be the same concept as the macro level in architecture, and the attention to each element of Mise en Scene can be the same concept of micro-level in architectural design. The way of using the Mise en Scene's theory of components to maintain the overall atmosphere of the film, helps the researcher to provide a design training strategy. To evaluate the desirability of proposed educational strategies, a case study was used in two consecutive semesters. This research was carried out qualitatively and the data were analyzed by analytical and descriptive method. A set of studies has suggested that the skills required by students for a macro-level concept are: visual memory, initial recognition of visual literacy, a strong archive of images with classified topics of architecture, memories and experiences of quality from the presence of architecture, face to face or documentary film from an architectural work, capable of free-style design, familiarity with drawing techniques and rendering, a three-way communication between the mind, eyes and hands of the designer. And the abilities required for a micro level concept include a three-way communication between the mind, eyes and the designer's hand, familiarity with sensible experiences for humans by architectural elements, familiarity with the definition of the event in spaces, and the circulation; therefore, the common factor in the abilities, the need for two levels of the schema is the existence of a triple bond between the mind, student's eyes and hands and the educational strategy presented in this article is to strengthen this three-dimensional relationship and other components. The results indicate that the proposed design method has been effective in empowering students to create ideas, expression and presentation of mental concepts in the macro and micro levels. Urban migration and urban growth are recognized as main challenges in developing countries. Education as one of fundamental strategies has key role in national development. Although, they have influenced several consequences on city and regional levels apart from academic mission, their main functions are resourceful human sources and contribution of knowledge as well as technical skill. Governments were allocating different funds from national capital for education budget to improve human resources which the parts of developed countries are 7% of GDP, and developing countries are 6% of GDP approximately. Since last decades, the universities have expanded through growth population and society’s cultural aspect of academic education, but the universities’ roles are ambiguous to achieve cities’ sustainable development in developing countries. Sustainable development as a process is multi-dimensional which tries to modify fundamental situation in social structures, public attitudes, and national institutions through economic growth, and social equality as well as reduce poverty. Generally, communities reach sustainable development when there are four main elements including: natural potential, appropriate current infrastructures, sufficient human resources, and adequate financial resources.          Under the special position for land, agricultural economy in North of Iran, the need of research is the consequences of universities establishment on their region’s sustainable development. The aim is to assess consequences for establishment of Islamic Azad University Sari branch toward sustainable development. There are several researches which focused on the Iranian’ universities impacts on social aspects such as employment, woman conditions, and public cultures, but a few studies have concentrated on Iranian universities consequences to achieve sustainable development. Different studies described that there are two main approaches to achieve sustainable development, including: people- oriented, and procedures based on participation. Theoretical framework for current study developed based on the sustainable development concept which included three fundamental components Environment, economic, and social.      Research method is conducted quantitatively and survey-based and then, primary data is collected by questionnaires which has been designed based on the several studies and consist of two main sections including personal information, and impacts of the university establishment based on the sustainable development components. A Lickert scale was employed to apply arranged choice variables in terms of the three main components of sustainable development including: Economic, social, and physical. The sample size has been determined by Cochran Formula and so, 380 persons had contributed among 400 people. The research has employed One-sample t-test and Friedman test to analyze collected data. The results reveal that significant and positive relation between Islamic Azad University of Sari and three major components of sustainable development, but the factors are different impacts. Thus, Azad University Sari branch has the greatest effect on economic aspect, and physical and social aspects are in next ranking respectively. Finally, the findings appear that the university impact on physical aspect of Sari city has been neglected and then, Sari’ surrounding areas have developed in lack of abilities and capacities of Islamic Azad University-Sari branch. Therefore, the university roles and potentials must be considered by authorities for urban planning process in different levels.  Manuscript profile

The concept of identity is one of the most complex issues in the humanities such that its roots can be tracedon the philosophy, psychology and sociology. The application of this concept in the field of architecture wasexpanded after World War II, in the 50's and after the outbreak of the criticism of modern architecture. Despiteextensive discussions that have taken place, this concept is still a matter of concern, especially in developingcountries. Vernacular architecture in these countries is a symbol of cultural identity in contrast with the pressuresof globalization and Invasion of Western Civilization. The main question of this study is the recognition of theconcept and effective principles of identity in architecture that is done through the analysis of the viewpointsof theorists. The views of theorists with the concept of identity and architecture can be seen in two total forms. The first oneis a process that architecture is considered as a symbol of self or society and in the second form, building’sidentity is known as the features or meanings of built environment. Anyway, the identity of built environmenthas deep relation with human identity and is considered as a pa rt of an individual's personality.Definition of architecture as identity, associated with concepts such as personalization, territory or senseof belonging. In contrast, analyzing the Identity in a building is a challenging issue that theorists have useddifferent terms to describe it. They have used from different terms like character of space, sense of place, meaning of built environment or physical features. A number of theories have considered identity as a part ofmeaning or sense of place, while some others have defined meaning or sense of place as a part of identity.Although these terms have different meaning, but all of them have mentioned some special features of builtenvironment that make meaning, cause uniqueness and distinguish a place from the other environment. Therefore, in this study the concept of meaning has used as the identity of built environment and the distinctionsbetween definitions are explained as the levels of meaning. Accordingly, four levels of meaning have defined, including basic meaning and form, functional meaning, symbolic and reference meaning, emotional andsentimental meaning. Perception of identity and meaning occurs by common significance and the level ofmeaning is related to the level of connection between the human and built environment and is defined in theprocess of interaction between these two elements. The interactive process is defined in a communication model between architect, built environment and user.Base on this model and theorist’s viewpoints, some principles have defined like oneness, continuity, innovation Manuscript profile
