Inroduction & Objective: Using herbal products like Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) plays an important role in wound healing. This study aimed to evalutea the curative influence of Aloe vera (AV) fresh gel on healing of open cutaneous wounds in mouse. Material and Method: Mice were 1) pseudo-control (sham): wound treated with physiological serum; 2) wound treated with 2 gr AV fresh gel. Two equal full-thickness skin wounds were made on vertebral column in the sacral region. On 8th and 16th post wounding day, skin sampling for the purpose of gene expression of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGF-R) under RT-PCR evaluation was taken place. Urine samples were used to determine the concentration of hydroxy proline (HP) as a marker of collagen turnover in wounds, using HP assay kit.   Results: AV fresh gel could up-regulate the expression of FGF-R gene as compared to negative and pseudo-controls (P<0.05). In addition, HP concentration was incresed in AV gel-treated groups comparing to others. Conclusion: We revealed that AV fresh gel was capable of healing wounds via elevation in collagen turnover and represents a good candidate for a wound healing process in human and animals. Byproducts from the processing of fish are a good source of collagen. Biodegradable protein-based film was made by incorporating clove essential oil (CAO) into Caspian white fish scale gelatin (CWFSG) at level of 0, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5% (weight/ protein weight ratio) and antimicrobial, physical and mechanical properties of films including tensile strength (T.S), elongation at break (EAB%), moisture%, water vapor permeability (WVP), contact angle, solubility, surface color properties, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were investigated. Gelatin-based films enriched with different concentrations of CAO were prepared and examined. Incorporation of CAO at concentrations of 0-1.5% resulted in the decreasing in tensile strength (TS) of the films. Water vapor permeability (WVP) was increased in the film added with CAO at a level higher than 0.5% (P<0.05); However, film solubility and L*value decreased. Moreover, when CAO was incorporated the films showed the lowered light transmission in the visible range. Films incorporated with CAO had an inhibitory effect in a concentration-dependent manner against Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, and Escherichia coli. SEM images revealed the presence of micro-pores in the essential oil incorporated films, which contributed to the physical properties of the films. Gelatin films incorporated with CAO can be used as an active packaging, but the properties must be modified. Gelatine film containing 1% CAO had the best physical, mechanical and antimicrobial properties. Manuscript profile

Meat products producers represent their specific formulation; therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the presence of frauds in such products. This research was conducted to evaluate the quality of meat products at restaurants of Tabriz. For this, a total of 33 samples of ground meat mixes used for Kebab making were obtained. The samples were subjected to chemical and histological assays. Chemical analyzing was performed by means of collagen and hydroxyproline amino acid indices using colorimetric method. Moreover, histological evaluation was conducted by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Results showed that mean values of hydroxyproline and collagen were 0.0384±0.0268 and mean was 0.2993±0.0209, respectively. Besides, the presence of unauthorized bone, cartilage and lung tissues were found in 12.1 %, 18.2 % and 9.1 %, respectively. Comparison of the histological and chemical outcomes revealed that a direct difference between amount of meat and hydroxyproline ranges. Moreover, the amount of hydroxyproline was different among various tissues (i.e., hydroxyproline content was in high level in fraud samples). It was concluded that handmade meat products prepared in Tabriz were not free of inadvertent/intentional fraud; therefore organized control is essential. Manuscript profile

Due to their lower complications than chemical compounds, herbal medicines have received attention from doctors. In this study, Internal Layer of  Persian Oak (Quercus persica), which is used in traditional medicine for chronic dermatologic disorders and eczema, was utilized to investigate cutaneous ulcer healing. Thirty adult male Wistar rats in 5 groups were treated while kept under normal laboratory conditions by creating a wound with dimensions of 1.5 × 1.5 cm2 and a depth of 2 mm in the back. The control group, the sham group, and the experimental groups consist of hydro-alcoholic extract of Internal Layer of Quercus persica at a dose of 250 mg / kg, hydro-alcoholic extract of Quercus persica at a dose of 500 mg / kg, and hydro-alcoholic extract of Quercus persica extract at a dose of 1000 mg / kg, respectively. Topical treatment of ulcers was performed in a 10-day interval every other day, and on the 6th, 8th and 10th days, tissue samples were prepared from the scars. After samples were washed, they were fixed in 10% formalin and hematoxylin-eosin staining of samples, epidermal thickness, wound healing percent, and collagen density were assessed and data were analyzed using SPSS software. In the experimental groups, there was a significant increase (at the level of p < 0.05 and p < 0.01) in the epidermal thickness and the wound healing percent, indicating the significant effect of Internal Layer of Iranian oak Jaft extract on the wound reconstruction, but no significant effect was observed on collagenization in this study Internal Layer of Iranian oak hydroalcoholic extract may have an effective role in accelerating skin wounds healing. The skin is prone to mechanical injuries and damage and the skin collagen changes with age. Herbs and aloe vera gel are used experimentally and traditionally in the skin repair and rejuvenation. In this study, the effect of gelatin-aloe vera nanofibers on the expression of collagen I gene after skin microneedling was investigated in male mice under standard laboratory conditions. Skin microneedling was performed on the backs of the tested mice. Groups were subjected to treatments with saline, aloe vera gel, and gelatin-aloe vera nanofibers for 48 h. The expression of collagen I gene was evaluated through sampling and purification of tissue RNA by Real time PCR method. According to the results, skin injury resulted in a significant reduction in the expression of the collagen I gene in the treatment groups compared to the control group. In comparison, treatment with aloe vera gel and aloe vera/gelatin nanofibers significantly increased gene expression compared to the model group. Furthermore, the existing Glucomannan increased gene expression at the site of injury by passing through pores. Manuscript profile

3D printing of scaffolds at low temperatures is very promising for making artificial bone graft alternatives with more performance than traditional techniques. One of the most promising strategies in bone tissue engineering has focused on the development of biomimetic scaffolds. Ceramic-based scaffolds with osteogenic ability and mechanical properties are promising candidates for bone repair. The aim of this study was to adapt the flexibility and increasing the effect of inducing osteogenesis of Polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffold prepared by fused deposition modeling (FDM) method, using the combination of Collagen (COL) as a natural polymer with synthetic polymer and to investigate the behavior of MG63 cells on it. on it. After preparing the scaffold, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and ATR-FTIR spectroscopy were used. After 1,7,14 days, the ossification process of MG63 cells in different treatments was performed using alizarin red staining and alkaline phosphatase activity. The non-toxicity of scaffolds was also evaluated by MTT assay to ensure cell proliferation. From under a microscope, it was found that tissue engineering scaffolds distributed and connected almost rectangular pores evenly. The PCL/COL scaffold showed a significant difference in terms of viability compared to the polycaprolactone scaffold only in the differential medium (P ≤ 0.0001). The results of evaluating ALP activity in PCL/COL scaffolds were significantly higher than uncoated PCL scaffolds and control (P ≤ 0.0001). The results of this study showed that the use of PCL/COL scaffold can be considered a suitable medium for proliferation and differentiation of MG63 cells in bone tissue engineering. Therefore, the PCL/COL composite scaffold prepared by FDM printer can be widely used in bone tissue engineering due to the cell survival by COL. Manuscript profile

We studied the effect of lighting during 19 days of incubation on embryonic bone characteristics, gene ex-pression, thyroid hormones, and glucose in Cobb broiler hatchlings. Eggs (2160) were incubated under darkness (control) and green and white lighting (16D:8L and 12D:12L). On 19th day, tibiotarsal length in-creased under eight hours of white light, and femoral ossified length was longer under eight hours of white and green light. In femur, expression of Alp, Col10a1, and Spp1 increased by 12 h white and 8 h green lighting, and Bglap expression decreased under white. In tibiotarsus, expression of Alp decreased by 8 h lighting (green or white) while Bglap increased by 12 h lighting (green or white). Tibiotarsal expression of Col10a1 increased by 12 h lighting (white and green), and in 8 h green lighting, and Spp1 expression was higher under light illumination. The hatchling blood triiodothyronine concentration in 8 h green lighting was higher than that in control, whereas, thyroxine concentration was lower under 12 h white lighting com-pared with other treatments. Femoral organic matter to mineral (OM:M) ratio and calcium concentration were higher in the eight-hour white light group than in the control, but tibiotarsal OM:M ratio and calcium and phosphorus concentrations were higher under 12 h white light. The findings indicated that lighting dur-ing incubation may impact, both positively and negatively, bone morphology and gene expression. More studies are needed to find the most beneficial lighting system during incubation in chickens. Manuscript profile
