The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of mindfulness components on rumination and academic procrastination. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population consisted of all undergraduate students of Bu Ali Sina University in Hamedan. 367 students were selected by stratified random sampling method. Academic procrastination questionnaire (Solomon & Rothblum, 1984), Rumination scale (Yousefi, 2008), five-dimensional mindfulness scale (Baer et al., 2006) were used for data collection. The data were analyzed using multivariate regression analysis. The results showed that the components of mindfulness are able to predict the rumination and academic procrastination changes (p<0.01) and also showed there was significant relationship between the components of mindfulness with rumination and procrastination (p <0.01). According to the results of the study, mindfulness reduces one's mind to repetitive patterns of thought and reduces rumination, and by keeping one's mind present, it prevents procrastination in doing things. Rumination, by reviewing useless mental thoughts, reduces the incentive to do things in timly manner and causes procrastination Manuscript profile

This study aimed to investigate the effect of emotion regulation, anger rumination, and self-criticism on social maladaptation by the mediating role of self-compassion and psychological flexibility in high school students of Ahvaz. The research design was descriptive-correlational through structural equation modeling (SEM). The statistical population of the study included all high school students in Ahvaz in the academic year 2020-2021 (In total, 49,744 students). From this population, 850 students were selected by the multi-stage cluster sampling method to test the research hypotheses. The instruments used in this study included the Gross and John’ Emotion Regulation Scale (2003), Sukhodolsky et al.’ Anger Rumination Scale (2001), Thompson and Zuroff’ Levels of Self-Criticism Scale (2004), Neff’ Self-Compassion Scale (2003), Bond et al.’ Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (2011), and Weitzman’ Social Development Scale (1990). The goodness of fit of the proposed model was examined through structural equation modeling (SEM), using SPSS-24 and Amos-24 software packages. The indirect effects were tested by the Bootstrap procedure. The results showed a good fit of the final model with the data. The results showed that emotional regulation, anger rumination, and self-criticism have direct effects on students' social maladaptation (p<0.05). The findings also showed that self-compassion and psychological flexibility mediate the effects of predictor variables on social maladaptation (p<0.05). According to the research results, emotional regulation, anger rumination, self-criticism, self-compassion, and psychological flexibility are the most important variables affecting adolescents' social maladaptation that should be considered when formulating and implementing interventions. One of the topics that has occupied the minds of most thinkers and even the public in recent years is the issue of divorce. Currently, this phenomenon in Iran is a social problem and has created many problems for individuals and families facing divorce. According to the nature of the subject and the desired goals, the present research is correlational descriptive research. The current research population includes all women who referred to counseling centers in Tehran in 1402. From among them, 300 people were selected through targeted and available sampling. Using Nolen Hoeksma and Maro's rumination questionnaire, self-harm (masochism) questionnaire, Leahy's emotional schema standard questionnaire and Collins and Ray's adult attachment style questionnaire and data analysis, it was determined that there is a difference between secure attachment style and non-suicidal self-harm in Divorced women have a significant negative correlation. There is a positive and significant correlation between anxious insecure attachment style, rumination, neurotic defense mechanism and underdeveloped defense mechanism with non-suicidal self-harm in divorced women, and there is no significant correlation between avoidant insecure attachment style and non-suicidal self-harm in divorced women. As a result, considering the family problems in the society and the increase in the rate of divorce, identifying the influential and related factors and planning trainings based on these findings can be effective in preventing non-suicidal thoughts and acts of self-harm. Emotion regulation plays an important role in responding to possible stresses and crises, especially among adolescents, So, it is important to examine the role of effective factors in the development of emotion regulation. Current study investigated the role of attachment and family functions in prediction of emotion regulation in adolescents. A sample of adolescents between the age of 14 to 17, selected based on multi-level cluster sampling, completed a battery of questionnaires including family function assessment, inventory of parent and peer attachment and children and adolescent’s emotion regulation checklist. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results of this study showed that the overall function of the family was most important in predicting emotional stability, self-awareness in expressing emotions, emotional expressiveness in suitable situations, emotional flexibility and control and management of emotions. Other family functions’ subscales including behavioral and communication control also played an important role in emotional expressiveness in suitable situations. However, attachment to mother showed weak correlations with several subscales of ERC, did not play a significant role to predict emotion regulation strategies in adolescents. Therefore, the healthy family function can play a crucial role in the formation of emotional stress during adolescence, and prevent many challenges during adolescence. Manuscript profile

Anger, as a fundamental emotion is affiliated with threats and negative evaluation. Researchers have presented anger rumination as a construct related to anger and also that alexithymic individuals imply rumination as a way to regulate and manage their anger and negative emotions. The aim of the present study is to examine the effectiveness of written emotional disclosure on reduction of anger rumination among individuals affected by alexithymia. Hence, in a semi-experimental study with pretest-posttest, and control group, 130 male and female graduate level students at University of Tehran were selected through availability sampling method. A total of 30 participants having high scores on Toronto Alexithymia Scale were screened and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Participants in both groups were evaluated for anger rumination at the start and end of the study. A two-week program of written emotional disclosure (sis twenty-minutes sessions) was executed for experimental group. The control group received no intervention. Attained data were analyzed using univariate analysis of covariance with SPSS version 23. The results revealed reduction in anger rumination as a result of written emotional disclosure among alexithymic individuals. It is concluded that teaching of written emotional disclosure can be used to reduce anger rumination and its negative outcomes among general and clinical populations. Manuscript profile

Rheumatologic diseases are often associated with a high prevalence of psychological disorders. In spite of the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis in Iran, the role of psychological factors has not been evaluated among the population affected by this disorder. The aim of the present study is to predict depressive symptoms and sleep quality based on rumination and it's subtypes in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. To do so, in a descriptive correlational study, 75 patients with Rheumatoid arthritis referred to Hafiz rheumatology clinic at Shiraz University of Medical Science were selected through convenience sampling method, and assessed for style of response, quality of sleep, and depression. Research tools included Response Styles Questionnaire (RSQ), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Data analysis was performed coefficient of correlation and linear regressions were used to compare data. The results indicated that the rumination and its subtypes significantly predict the quality of sleep and depressive symptoms (p 0<01). Also, brooding was a better predictor than reflection to predict the sleep quality and depressive symptoms. Results confirmed that patients who are afflicted by chronic rumination are more likely to experience symptoms of depression and poor quality sleep. It may increase the complication of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Manuscript profile

Worry, negative beliefs, rumination and flexibility are important topics in the phenomenon of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Worries are usually activated as a coping strategy in response to the disturbing thoughts. When negative beliefs are activated, a worried person evaluated a thought in a negative manner that is worried about worry. Rumination is similar to worry, with the difference that rumination focuses on the bad feelings of past experiences. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between the components of meta-worry, mental rumination and mental flexibility with obsessive spectrum disorder. For this aim, in the descriptive - correlation research among all staff of Medical Sciences University of  Qazvin, 76 people were selected  by convenience sampling method and were tested in terms of mental rumination, contemplation, mindfulness, obsessive-compulsive, custodial, muscular, skin manipulation and practical obsessive-compulsive skills. According to multiple correlation analysis method (focal correlation) and multiple regression, there is a significant relationship between component of meta-worry, mental rumination and mental flexibility with obsessive-compulsive disorder and meta-worry component with obsessive compulsive and body deformity. It is suggested that therapists and specialist with educational programs that involve modifying and changing the meta-cognitive beliefs ineffective will result in the emergence and continuation of obsessive-compulsive behaviors in other obsessive-compulsive disorders that are seriously related to psychological, familial, social and economic harm.
