The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of schema therapy on coping styles, avoidance compensation, and fear of marriage for single female students over 30 years in Tehran. The research method was semi-experimental. Using non-random sampling, 30 available female students were selected at Shahid Beheshti University and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The instruments used in this study were pre-marriage phobia questionnaires of Samii, Yousefi and Neshat Doost (2013), Avoidance Style Yang-Ray (1994), and Compensation (1994), which were completed in pre-test, post-test and follow-up stages. The experimental group Yang-Ray received 8 sessions of schema training in the group and the control group received no treatment. Data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance. The results showed that schema therapy can reduce spouse fear, fear of spouse restraint, fear of self, avoidance coping styles and excessive compensation in married college students.
