The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparison of effectiveness of monotheistic integrated psychotherapy and object relations psychotherapy on self-differentiation and violence of couples in Mashhad. A sample of 30 subjects was selected by convenience sampling methodfrom the mentioned population and randomly allocated in the two experimental groups( each group five pairs, totally20 subjects) and a five couples control group(10 subjects). The research method was semi-experimental (pre-test and post-test with the control group). In order to collect data, the Self-differentiation Questionnaire and Marital Violence Questionnaire were used. Interventions were performed on 2 groups in 10 sessions of biaxial weekly and the control group received no treatment. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics including multivariate covariance analysis. The findings showed that monotheistic integrated psychotherapy and object relations psychotherapy had significant effect on the self-differentiation and couples’ violence. The results also indicated that object relations psychotherapy treatment compared tomonotheistic integrated psychotherapy had a better effect on self-differentiation while the monotheistic integrated psychotherapy compared to object relations psychotherapy had a better effect on reducing marital violence.
