The aim of this paper is to explain how the field of International Relations evolved in Iran before and after the Islamic Revolution. Sociological, economic, and historical variables are presented to set out this evolution. It analyzes the hypothesis that although IR theories and methodologies have had almost no effect on the way in which the Islamic Republic defines the global system and perform its foreign relations, its influence today among students and academic community is unprecedented. The paper concludes that political science and IR will play a key role in providing raw data about the world and introducing knowledge on how other countries are being transformed and what Iran could learn from them.   Manuscript profile

beginning of the revolution, and there have been some factors at work in creating a number of convergence and divergence between the two countries. Based on the theory of Structural Realism, this study tries to examine the reasons for the expansion of the ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Libya as well as the causes of instability and divergence between the two countries. Following the analysis of events in post-revolution era, we find out that the expansion of relations between the countries is the result of international and regional developments which has led to more convergence. As an example to this claim, one can refer to both countries’ struggle with the United States’ domination over the international system and Libya’s support from Iran’s position during the imposed war   Manuscript profile

Qatar is situated at the heart of the Persian Gulf, and that is why it has a strategic and sensitive position. Turkey’s policy towards Central Asia in the 90s was full of passion and enthusiasm towards building a community of Turkish-speaking countries. Such an enthusiasm wasn’t accompanied with an appropriate strategy, therefore, Turkey couldn’t expand its influence in a real sense of the word. Due to the presence of some competitors such as America, Russia, China and Iran and also lack of financial resources, Turkey couldn’t play its role well. Because of different reasons such heterogeneity of values and norms, different lifestyles, inability to secure the borders with neighboring countries, Qatar somehow turned a blind eye towards its utopia of leadership in the Central Asian countries. Although it couldn’t have a major role to play in the pursuit of Pan-Turkism approach, Qatar seems to play an important role in energy transfer   Manuscript profile
