Abstract :
beginning of the revolution, and there have been some factors at work in creating a number of convergence and divergence between the two countries. Based on the theory of Structural Realism, this study tries to examine the reasons for the expansion of the ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Libya as well as the causes of instability and divergence between the two countries. Following the analysis of events in post-revolution era, we find out that the expansion of relations between the countries is the result of international and regional developments which has led to more convergence. As an example to this claim, one can refer to both countries’ struggle with the United States’ domination over the international system and Libya’s support from Iran’s position during the imposed war
