BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Media and mass communication have developed in quite novel fashions in the present era, and drastically influenced all developments of human society. Given the expansion and impact of the media, the present study is an attempt, through focusing on cinema industry especially cinema of the Sacred Defense, to explore the evolution in manners of representing the war with an emphasis on Rasoul Mollaqolipour’s cinematic works. Drawing upon the representation theory and Stuart Hall, the paper examines the representation of war in three periods of War, Reconstruction, and Reformism.METHODOLOGY: In general, the study is descriptive in strategy and uses content analysis in methodology; it is cross-sectional, present-oriented; in purpose and nature, it is applied, and in terms of data collection, it is quantitative. The sample population includes Mollaqolipour’s repertoire of 15 films, among which three films of Ofoq, Hiva, and Mazraeh Pedari comprise the experimental group.FINDINGS: our findings indicated that the director in Ofoq, which represented the War period, concerned with representation of the wish of martyrdom and volunteer inscriptions to go to war fronts; it represented the enemy as the devil, while it represented Iranian soldiers as forces of good who fought for the cause of righteousness. Hiva, which represented the Reconstruction period, is a focus on social evils, the bitter post-war realities, and reviews the war from a critical perspective, depicting the whims and lack of sympathy of soldiers. Ultimately, Mazraeh Pedari, which represented the period of Reformism, is a representation of social frustrations and dissatisfaction with the status quo after the war.RESULTS: the director has worked laboriously to create a harmony between social milieu of each period mentioned above and the representation of the events of the same periods. The findings bear clear testimonies to this fact. Manuscript profile

One of the approaches of contemporary literary criticism that has been considered by researchers is psychological criticism. Archetypes, which are the collective unconscious content, can be analyzed in human personality as a legacy of the past. By balancing the four archetypes of mask, shadow, anima, animus in oneself, one can express one's true "self" and reach individuality. This article examines the archetypes in Ahmad Shakeri's novel Naked in the Wind based on Jung's theories through an analytical-descriptive method. This novel is one of the novels in the field of sacred defense literature that tells the story of a teenager from the village of "Kanichao" and reveals the secret of the martyrs of Borhani hill after many years. This research, in accordance with the conditions of the story, provides the background for the representation of the mentioned archetypes and shows that in the novel, due to the presence of negative characters, shadow archetypes and masks have a great effect and have darkened the story’ space. With the efforts of the main character of the novel - Yusuf - the shadows and masks are removed one after another and the reality becomes clear to the people. The insistence on negative aspects has not provided the ground for the expression of the real "self" of the characters in the story and has only revealed their nature to the people. Memoir writing is one of the most important narrative approaches in the sacred defense literature and has had an impact on the memory of Persian literature. Therefore, the study of its stylistics in the development of Persian literature can be considered. This paper examines normality and innovation in a syntactic layer that can distinguish language from the normative language and somehow highlights it. One of the types of normative writing used by the writer to create literary work is syntactic normality or the avoidance of syntactic rules governing language; the author disrupts the ruling order of the language, and emphasizes the grammatical features of language. It uses the text and in fact tries to create the arts in this field. In this context, these two concepts have been examined both in classical literature and in the present age literature for a detailed understanding. In the meantime, as these two are a part of social categories, the sociology of literature and especially the sociology of Persian literature were studied separately. They have been used most of the poetic formats in the service of sustainability literature and have written poetry for every occasion in the Islamic Revolution, and for this reason they are known as revolutionary poets. We are looking for the question: what factors have played a role in the formation of the idea of sustainability of these two poets and what are the most important themes of sustainability in the poems of these two? We came to this point that the two poets' view of sustainability is close to each other and in the field of sustainability literature, such as: jihad, self-sacrifice and martyrdom, philosophy of waiting and the epic of Ashura, right-seeking, colonialism and arrogance, especially after the victory of the revolution in their poems .The role of the people in creating this thinking is remarkable. To read a text, you need previous and contemporary texts, and no text is independent of its predecessors. Since every work of art is a text, a painting can also be considered a text. The painting of the Holy Defense has its own semantic and aesthetic system that is different from each other. Tastes both in the production and in the acceptance of works of art change depending on the social transformation that has taken place in terms of the structural nature of the work under study. This article intends to answer the questions of how the painting of the Holy Defense was able to represent this subject through text and image and convey it to the audience and how to describe it in the form of aesthetics. Having a profound effect on the process of the formation of post-war currents, the painting of war has emerged in a particular discourse context. In this paper, both text and context are studied. Due to the exceptional subject matter and ability of Laclau and Chantal Mouffe’s theory of discourse in explaining all socio-political phenomena, this theory has been considered as a theoretical framework and the paintings of holy defense and their representations of war and the production of new discourse have been discussed. Since paintings are an important source of representation of the state of war, a number of artists' works during the holy defense were subsequently analyzed by discourse and read text and context through selected samples of war and postwar paintings. The war and post-war paintings constitute this research data, and several samples are selected from. The selection was based on discourse analysis and textual analysis and purposive sampling was used to choose the statistical society. The following research indicates that the concepts of guardianship, martyrdom, martyr, defense, resistance, jihad, etc. in Iranian culture mixed with Islamic culture have been considered sacred in the war and reestablished by discourse. Referring to these concepts and elements, the mythical symbols in the images, reestablishing of the concept “holy”, and the central signification of some of the key artists’ works in these two periods became apparent in this research. The discourse of the revolution painting is encountered with that of war under the influence of socio-political factors and the shift of relations’ power with fundamental changes in the way in which the war is represented Manuscript profile
