Alfalfa, Medicago sativa L. is the most widely used forage plant. In the recent decade, alfalfa aphids have become an important economic pests in some regions of Iran, including Borujerd the northern parts of Lorestan province. In this research, the appropriate sample units of alfalfa aphid populations were investigated in 2016. Comparison of six sample units, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of alfalfa stems revealed that there were significant difference among RV and RNP of aphid populations. Results showed that, the appropriate sample unit to estimate Acyrthosiphon pisum, Acyrthosiphon kondoi and Therioaphis maculate populations in alfalfa fields were 4, 4 and 3 stems, respectively. Based on the findings of this research, sample unit of 4 stems is recommended in the sampling for all alfalfa aphids populations in the field. Manuscript profile

2 - Efficiency of 1x1 meter quadrat for estimating of over-wintered adults of Eurygaster integriceps Put. (Hem., Scutelleridae) populations in rainfed wheat field

This research was carried out to evaluate different aspects of one square meter quadrat size to estimate sunn pest over-wintered adults, Eurygaster integriceps Put.(Hem., Scutelleridae) in rainfed wheat field of Borujerd, north of Lorestan province, Iran, during 2003 and 2004. Iwao’s        regression had higher determination coefficients (r2=0.93) and showed a better fit as compared to r2 values calculated by Taylor’s power law (r2=0.86). Iwao’s patchiness regression slope (β=1.07±0.05) was not significantly larger than 1.0. Consequently, random dispersion pattern was determined for over-wintered adults in rainfed wheat fields. Therefore, Kuno’s fixed precision sequential sampling scheme based on Iwao’s parameters was constructed for overwintered adults of E. integriceps. An additional nine independent data sets, was used to validate the fixed-precision sequential sampling plans with resampling software of RVSP. Sample size curves indicated that estimating over-wintered adult population in rainfed field can be accomplished with a few sampling efforts when population is >2 insects per quadrat. For example only six samples need to be taken for the over-wintered adults, on average to achieve a precision of 0.25 (Dexp=0.25) when =3 insects per quadrat. However, sample sizes increase suddenly when population density is less than 0.3 insects per quadrat. Based on these results, 1*1m quadrat is not recommended to estimate number of over-wintered adults in rainfed wheat field. Manuscript profile

For the experimentation and analysis of the result the regression method (Iwao , Taylor) was used . the result showed that the distribution of aphids in random . based an the values of (r ) the model (Iwao) was more appropriate than (Taylor) to show the relationship between variance and mean the data of this research can be useful in designing appropriate sampling program to stimate the populations of aphids and also to stimate population parameters. In this study 13 different habitat types and 37 sampling areas of Lorestan province (Western Iran) were selected for studding on Collembolan's fauna during 2016-2017. Totally, 24 species of springtails from 18 genera and 8 families were recorded in this study. The species Ceratophysella cf. borealis, Desoria neglecta, and Dicyrtoma grinbergsi are new record for the Iranian fauna. Also three genera; Pseudachorutes, Xenylla and Anurophorus with the species Anurophorus coiffaiti, Ceratophysella gibosa, Sphaeridia pumilis and Dicyrtoma ghilarovi are new for the west part of Iran. The cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.), has been remained one of the most important pests of horticultural and oil-seed Brassica crops, despite all attempts to control its infestation. This research was conducted to evaluate the resistance of 48 rapeseed (Brassica napusL.) genotypes to cabbage aphid, Brevicoryne brassicae (L.) at Borujerd agricultural research station, Iran. during 2001-2003. In the first year, out of 48 genotrypes 8 showed a moderately resistance in comparison to rest. In the second year these 8 geotypes and a susceptible one (VDH8003/98) were evaluated in the field and laboratory condition. In the field condition, two similar but separated trials (treatment with insecticide and no treatment) were done in a randomized complete block design with four replications. Results showed that the most and the least infestation index and rm (intrinsic rate of natural increase) belonged to VDH 8003/98 and PF7045/91 respectively. Based on the field and laboratory investigations, among 48 genotypes, the most susceptible was VDH 8003/98 and the most resistant one was PF7045/91 and the other varieties were placed between these two. Two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch is the most important pest of common bean in most areas of Iran, including Lorestan province. In this study the geostatistical charachteristics of this pest were evaluated in Borujerd common bean fields in 2009. To do this research, two red common bean (Goli variety) fields that each one was about four hectares were selected. In each field, about 300 points (stations) were identified and marked. Sampling was started in mid July. At each station on three point of plant height (bottom, middle and top) three leaves were sampled. In the laboratory, the samples were observed and mite population density were counted with respect to each life stage. Results showed that the spherical model provided the best fit (based on r2-values) for the semivariogram data in 20 data sets out of 25 at the beginning of the pest attak in late July and early August. In this time, nugget/sill ratio was very low and by passing the time this ratio    increased so that the spatial dependence among points decreased. Thus in August and early              September more semivariogram curves fitted with the model of pure nugget effect and did not show any spatial corrdation among points selected in the fields. The effective range of spatial              correlation of this pest were relatively high at the beginning of the pest attack. This range for adult females, nymphs and eggs were 357-641, 510-710 and 610-711 meters respectively. These              distances were reduced by passing the time and by approaching end of season. Based on these           results, application of geostatistics is recommended to monitoring and forecasting of two spotted spider mite, T.urticae in common bean fields at the beginning of the pest attack.
