The relationship between lesson planning literacy and creative teaching with the mediating role of teaching self-efficacy in elementary school teachers (Case study: elementary school teachers in Tehran Region 1)

Abstract :

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between lesson planning literacy and creative teaching and the mediating role of teaching self-efficacy in elementary school teachers. The present study was applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive in terms of its implementation method, a correlational survey based on the structural equation approach. The statistical population of the present study included all elementary school teachers in Tehran's District 1, 1600 people, in the academic year 2003-2004. 309 people were selected using multi-stage cluster random sampling. The data collection tools in this study included the Hong, Lee, and Yang (2003) Creative Teaching Questionnaire, the Schoenen-Moran, and Woolfolk Teaching Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (2006), and the Nourbakhsh Lesson Planning Literacy Questionnaire (2012). Data analysis was performed using PLS software and path analysis. The findings showed that lesson planning literacy has a direct and significant relationship with teaching self-efficacy with a beta of 0.73. Teaching self-efficacy with a beta of 0.28 has a direct and significant relationship with creative teaching. Lesson planning literacy with a beta of 0.31 has a direct and significant relationship with creative teaching. Lesson planning literacy with a beta of 0.19 has an indirect and significant relationship with creative teaching due to the mediating role of teaching self-efficacy.
