The occurrence of anomalies, particularly crime, poses a significant challenge impacting both the appeal of urban public spaces and their environmental characteristics. Therefore, obtaining accurate knowledge about environmental features and devising appropriate planning measures is crucial. This falls within the purview of planners, who are tasked with spatial and behavioral planning, followed by effective management. In this context, the current study aims to comparatively examine the factors influencing criminal behavior in areas with varying levels of safety within Shiraz city. To achieve this objective, the research employs descriptive-analytical and survey methods to collect necessary data, which is subsequently analyzed using T-test and regression analysis. The results reveal that, considering economic, social-cultural, and policing-management indicators, Regions 2 and 6 in Shiraz city exhibit no significant differences. However, when examining physical indicators, a notable distinction between the two regions becomes apparent. Analyzing citizens' opinions underscores the effectiveness and superiority of police-based approaches in addressing crime.Furthermore, a comparison of the physical components of the two regions demonstrates a significant disparity, emphasizing the importance of environmental design approaches alongside legal and policing strategies in areas prone to criminal activities in Shiraz. Population growth and housing demands have caused the cultural aspects of public spaces have been ignored in modern housing. Paying attention to open spaces is necessary as they are places to establish social interaction and thus increase the social security and create a sense of responsibility among residents. The main objective of this study is to find a way for the appropriate design of open spaces in high-density residential communities in order to promote a sense of place and community identity. In the first phase of this research, documentary studies are used to understand the basic definitions and information about the sense of place and its determinants. In the next step, survey method and Delphi technique are being applied to collect data. Experts were invited from faculty members of Shahid Beheshti’s Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, and IUST’s School of Architecture and Environmental Design. For the data analysis, descriptive and inferential statistics were used with the software SPSS version 21.0. According to the findings of this research, factors such as low-density of apartment, reduction in the height of the side with better vision, the view into green space, constant and adequate lighting at night, developing a safe walking route along the public spaces and the arrangement of the public spaces between blocks have a significant impact on fostering a sense of place in a residential environment. Using interior yards or green areas can help to enhance a sense of place. Trees or natural elements can be used in creating public spaces. The results show that existence of natural elements in open and semi-open spaces can create a sense of place effectively. Manuscript profile

For the sociability of public spaces, a wide range of components are considered, but the problem that exis ts is that little attention is paid to the components based on the social norms of the Iranian-Islamic city. In examining the models presented for the sociability of public spaces in Iran, what has been less addressed by researchers is the provision of components based on the social norms of the Iranian-Islamic city. In such a way that it can be said that not much indigenous look has been done towards these components. In this regard, the mos t important goal of the current research is to analyze and explain the components affecting the sociability of public spaces and to examine their importance in the Iranian-Islamic city. The s tudy case of the research is the Ali Qapu pedes trian in Ardabil city, which is one of the mos t important Sociable public spaces of the city, which has been able to play a role in explaining the his torical and cultural identity of Ardabil. The current research is based on the purpose of the applied-developmental type and in terms of the method is of the descriptive-analytical type. The method of collecting data in this research is based on library-documentary s tudies and field s tudies in such a way that library-documentary s tudies (including books, articles and plans related to the research topic) have been used to compile the theoretical foundations. In order to inves tigate and evaluate the area of the research, field s tudies in the form of observation, interview and ques tionnaire have been used. In order to analyze the research data, after interviews and discussions and completing the ques tionnaires by 30 specialis ts in the fields of urban planning, architecture, sociology and res toration, ANP-Dematel integrated model and Spss and Super Decisions softwares were used. The research findings show that the components of "permeability", "inclusiveness", "sensory richness" and "privacy" are the mos t important components of sociability of public spaces. The final achievement of the research is the presentation of the four components of "privacy", "spatial simplification", "naturalism" and "Iranian-Islamic Facade" in the form of "value-normative" components and centered on the social norms of the Iranian-Islamic city in order to make public spaces sociable. Designers and urban planners can work more efficiently by considering these components. Components such as "Privacy" in providing a sense of peace and creating mental privacy for the users of the space, using the "Iranian-Islamic Facade" in order to show the identity of an urban space, "Naturalism" by creating greenery and freshness in the space, and "Spatial simplification" which can cause a better unders tanding and readability of the public space, they are one of the mos t important components of sociability of public spaces in Iranian-Islamic cities. Therefore, in order to design such spaces in the cities of the country, a revision should be made in the field of using their design components, and the components based on the social norms of the Iranian-Islamic city should be used in order to improve the sociability of urban public spaces. In developed countries that have a rich cultural heritage, preservation and restoration of valuable historical context in the framework of its spatial management and the development of public spaces is still an important area and a permanent link to success. From this point of view, valuable historical contexts are considered as special and opportunity-creating places in terms of physical, social, cultural components and the people of the city. Based on this, the purpose of the research is to analyze the performance of the urban public space in the valuable historical context of the 12th district of Tehran.According to the nature of the subject and its general purpose, the present research method is descriptive and analytical and it was conducted in the 12th district of Tehran metropolis with the help of a questionnaire on the number of 50 people. The components have been evaluated in 3 cultural, physical and social sections and in the form of 20 variables. Pearson, t and regression tests have been used to measure the impact of public space and historical context. The findings show that one unit of change in the standard deviation of cultural actions and the dynamics of native and local life causes the standard deviation of the dependent variable (public space of historical context) to change by 81 and 70 percent. While a unit change in the standard deviation of the activity pattern only causes the standard deviation of the dependent variable to change by 24%.The results show that the social component has a better status than the physical and cultural components. In other words, the variables of cultural actions and the dynamics of native and local life have a far greater contribution compared to other variables. Manuscript profile

Architecture is created by human beings and this architecture is influenced by human ideals and continues to affect human beings and forms part of their ideals and ideals according to the needs in life. It is certain that design with a religious approach and attention to socio-cultural sustainability, can play an important role in human well-being and lead them to a healthy and appropriate society. Therefore, in urban policy and design, it is very important to consider the purpose of the design, visual experience and behavioral patterns of users. In the present article, the concept of quality and components and criteria affecting the design of landscape architecture and cultural space and the type of their relationship with humans are discussed through the views of thinkers in the field of urban design and planning. The most important questions of this research are; what are the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability in urban public spaces? And what is the relationship between the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability and Iranian-Islamic architectural criteria? To achieve this goal, the research method of this article is a qualitative method and the components of sustainable urban development and the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability and Iranian-Islamic architectural criteria are identified. The results indicate that the design of urban public spaces with emphasis on socio-cultural sustainability and attention to the components of Iranian-Islamic architecture, to create a living and dynamic atmosphere and by influencing the mental thinking of individuals to create gatherings and collective memories. It achieves peace of mind and, in addition to quantitative values, also takes steps to meet quality needs, and also with proper design, provides the possibility of better spatial separation and a sense of calm and dynamism at the same time.Extended AbstractIntroduction:      Architecture is created by human beings and this architecture is influenced by human ideals and continues to affect human beings and forms part of their ideals and ideals according to the needs in life. It is certain that with a religious approach, urban landscape architecture can play an important role in the well-being of human beings and lead them to a healthy and suitable society for human life. Of course, it should be noted that the issue of Iranian-Islamic identity, which has become an important and influential issue for trustees, experts and thinkers in various fields and can play a significant role in design, is therefore very important in urban policy and design. The purpose of the design, visual experience and behavioral patterns of users should be considered.Methodology:      With this assumption and in order to recognize the relationship between criteria and sub-criteria affecting the quality of space, with humans, in the present article, the concept of quality and components and criteria affecting it and their relationship with humans, by examining and comparing the views of different thinkers The field of urban design and planning is covered. The most important questions of this research are; what are the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability in public spaces of cities? And what is the relationship between the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability and Iranian-Islamic architectural criteria? The research hypothesis can be expressed as "it seems that architectural design can increase the interest of people to attend these spaces by using the ability to respond to all segments of society." To achieve this goal, the research method of this article is a qualitative method. In the sense that more attention has been paid to its theoretical dimensions. Attempts have been made to express the research findings in such a way that they can be used in urban projects. This research is deductive and recognizes the constructive factors of sustainable urban and then compares them. Examples of cases that have been researched include walking in Eram Garden Street and Kholdebarin Park, as well as examining the categories considered in the design of the cultural center development and the qualitative components of socio-cultural sustainability and Iranian-Islamic architectural criteria. Results and discussion:       The objectives of this article are to extract the effective components in urban policy and design in order to create appropriate spaces for gathering and community of all segments of the population, in addition to paying attention to quantitative values, in order to meet quality needs. The step was taken and also with the appropriate design, it provided the possibility of better spatial separation and creating a sense of stillness and dynamism at the same time. Due to the importance and necessity of this topic, this article has been done with the aim of extracting and explaining the most important factors affecting the quality of public spaces of parks, sidewalks and cultural spaces. - Iranian-Islamic culture and architecture has taken place. By comparing the criteria of Iranian-Islamic architecture with the indicators of social sustainability, it can be inferred that people enjoy an environment whose structure meets the requirements of current patterns of behavior and the physiological comfort they need, in other words, the physiological needs of personality, society and Cultural should respond Assuming that the environment meets the requirements of current patterns of behavior and needs well, that environment is qualitatively satisfactory if it has the following values:1- Sensory values that are the result of pleasurable senses such as olfactory sensation, taste, hearing and sight.2. Form values that are related to the enjoyable structure or patterns of the environment.3- Symbolic or associative values that originate from mental images created through sensory values. How to perceive the signs and semantic factors in creating and strengthening the sense of place is the main focus of this research, which can be considered a groundbreaking achievement to improve the quality of architectural space. Sense of place In addition to making people feel comfortable in an open environment, it supports the cultural concepts that people want, the social relations of the community in a particular place, and reminds people of past experiences by achieving identity. In order to prolong and increase the quality of life flow and better interaction between space and society, space should be given the ability to adapt to changes in lifestyle and human needs, or in other words, to consider criteria in the design that make space be flexible. According to the issues raised about socio-cultural sustainability and components of Islamic-Iranian architecture, we can say that there are commonalities and similarities between these two categories. For example, in Iranian-Islamic architecture, the components of democracy, multifunctionality of space, harmony with nature, geometry, unity and multiplicity, rhythm, calmness and centralism are closely related to components of socio-cultural sustainability such as well-being and vitality, interaction between environment and consumer. , Observed symbolism in the environment, a sense of physical and mental security and beauty. Conclusion:      The results indicate that the design of urban public spaces with emphasis on socio-cultural sustainability and attention to the components of Iranian-Islamic architecture, to create a living and dynamic space and by influencing the mental thinking of individuals to create gatherings and collective memories for Achieves peace of mind and in addition to quantitative values, also takes steps to meet quality needs, and also with proper design, provides the possibility of better spatial separation and a sense of stillness and dynamism at the same time.                     The Elderly Friendly City is defined as a comprehensive and accessible environment in the community that optimizes opportunities for health, participation and security to achieve quality, quality of life and dignity as we age. This study aims to evaluate and analyze the indicators of the elderly-friendly city in Borazjan. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical method. Also, in order to collect the required data and information, two library-documentary methods have been used and a questionnaire has been used in the survey section. The statistical population of the study is all elderly people in Borazjan with 8913 people based on the latest general population and housing census in 2016. Based on Cochran's formula and with an error coefficient of 5%, 368 people have been determined as the sample size of the research. Sampling method is available and the data collection tool in the survey section is a questionnaire with 32 items. In order to collect data in the survey section, 368 questionnaires were distributed in person among the elderly in Borazjan. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and Smart PLS software. The indicators presented in this research include (public spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, medical and health services, honoring the elderly and social respect, social participation and cultural and welfare affairs). The results show that the proposed indicators play an essential role in improving the elderly-friendly city. Accordingly, the fit of the research conceptual model showed that the mean variance of all indices is more than 0.50, which indicates convergent validity.Extended AbstractIntroduction:      In recent years, the importance of the elderly-friendly city has increased and led to the definition of different methods of evaluation and monitoring of the elderly-friendly city (Buckner et al, 2019: 205). The elderly. In fact, evaluating and monitoring cities from the perspective of an elderly friendly city is a prerequisite for creating a suitable environment for the elderly (Hosaingholizadeh et al, 2021: 374). One of the most important issues today is the issue of population, which has intensified in the 21st century as the issue of population aging and its consequences. Therefore, it can be said that the world is aging rapidly. As the population structure of most developed countries is aging several decades ago and also some developing countries in order to reduce fertility, death and dying and is in the stage of aging (aging) (Nasiri & reza ali, 2019: 74). The aging of the world's population has brought about changes in all sections of society. This increase in the elderly population is due to the correlation of various factors, including increased life expectancy and progress in health systems, public health and health. In 2017, the global population of people over 60 was 962 million and will continue to grow at an annual rate of 3%, so this figure is projected to double by 2050 and triple by 2100 (Flores et al, 2019) . Thus, for the first time in human history, the elderly population will outnumber the under-14 population. Our country, Iran, will also face an aging population in the near future. According to statistics, in 1996, the population over the age of 60 in our country was 6.6% of the total population, which in 2011 reached 8.2%, and the population over the age of 60 is expected to reach 10 million by 1400 (Ravani poor et al, 2009: 448). Therefore, due to the increasing urbanization and vulnerability of the elderly to environmental conditions, the need to pay attention to the issues and principles that provide comfort, security and tranquility of this age group is felt more than before planners at the macro level for not so long years according to planning Have a population with a pyramid. In this regard, due to demographic conditions and lack of sufficient studies to study the indicators of elderly friendly city in Borazjan, the present study was conducted to evaluate the indicators of elderly friendly city in this city. Therefore, the main issue of this study is to measure and evaluate the indicators of the elderly-friendly city in Borazjan. Accordingly, in this study, the indicators of public spaces of the city, transportation, housing, medical and health services, honoring the elderly and social respect, social participation and cultural and welfare affairs are used and the main hypothesis of the research is that "indicators The desired friendly city in Borazjan can be implemented and implemented.Methodology:       This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of research method. The elderly population of Borazjan, according to the data of the Statistics Center of Iran and the latest general population and housing census in 2016, is equal to 8913 people, which is equivalent to 8.06% of the total population of Borazjan, which is the statistical population of the study. Based on the calculation of Cochran's formula and with an error coefficient of 5%, 368 people were selected as the statistical sample of the study. Results and discussion:        Based on the research findings, it can be analyzed that the public spaces index plays a 66% role in explaining the elderly-friendly city. The transportation index plays a 75% role in explaining the elderly-friendly city. The housing index plays a 44% role in explaining the elderly-friendly city. The 71% social participation index plays a key role in determining the elderly-friendly city. The 60% Elderly Honor Index plays a role in creating an elderly-friendly city. Medical and health services play a 79% role in creating an elderly-friendly city. Welfare cultural affairs play a 61% role in explaining the elderly-friendly city. The results of fitting the conceptual model of the research are shown. The mean extracted variance of all indices is more than 0.50, which indicates convergent validity. Composite reliability, or McDonald's coefficient, also means coefficient of reliability, except that it takes into account the variable factor load in each option and gives you reliable results about the reliability or non-reliability of a measuring instrument. Which must have a value greater than 0.70. Also, the overall fit of the research conceptual model is 0.72, which indicates a very good fit for the model. Conclusion:        The title of this research is "Evaluation of the characteristics of an elderly friendly city in Borazjan" which has seven hypotheses. Hypothesis 1: Public spaces and city buildings play a role in improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. Hypothesis 2: Transportation has an effect on improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. Hypothesis 3: Housing has a role in improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. Hypothesis 3: Housing has a role in improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. Hypothesis 4: Medical and health services play a role in improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. Hypothesis 5: Respect for the elderly and social respect play a role in improving the situation of the elderly-friendly city. 23 - Presenting the sense of place model of public spaces in the era of virtual spaces with Grounded theory (case study: public space in the center of Rasht city)

Among many theories regarding the relationship between space and humans, the concept of sense of place is the most widely used theory to explain the existence of place. From the environmental psychology perspective, humans need specific sensory, emotional, and spiritual experiences of the environment in which they are. These needs can be met through intimate interaction and identification with the place where they attend. This interaction, which is called the sense of place, is an important factor in the harmony between the human and the environment and leads to better use of the environment, the users' satisfaction with the environment, and ultimately, a sense of belonging, continuity of presence and use, and increased quality of life. The sense of place physically and psychologically leads to the connection between an individual and the place and enhances his attachment to the place. Although the topic of sense of place is not new, the need to pay attention to it from new angles has been emphasized in recent years. The creation of new social spaces and its expansion has had an impact on human social life. contemporary man can experience a space in which he has never been physically present. Therefore, it seems that the emergence of the digital age and the increasing number of users of virtual spaces can affect the concept of "sense of place". The present study aims to analyze the sense of place in public spaces in the age of virtual media and present a theoretical model to help improve citizens' sense of place in public spaces. There are two main research questions:1. What are the most important factors affecting the sense of place in real and virtual public spaces? and 2. How was the sense of place of the users of the public space in the center of Rasht city, and how has it changed in the last decade? To answer the first question, Sandelowski and Barroso's Meta-Synthesis Method and CASP checklists are used. To answer the second research question, the Grounded Theory method is used. In this part of the research, the main assumption states that the sense of place of the users of the public space in the center of Rasht City seems to have changed in the last decade. Because, it has experienced extensive physical changes (due to regeneration in 2016) on the one hand, and the spread of virtual media has affected all aspects of urban life, from employment to social interactions, on the other hand. In the open coding phase of the grounded theory method, 537 codes were extracted from 15 detailed interviews with experts and professionals in the research field, and finally, 18 categories were identified. The results of this stage include the formation of basic concepts and the resulting codes. Also, on a scale higher than the codes, an attempt was made to identify a more abstract concept to place them in categories representing the characteristics of the codes by comparing the codes with each other. The research results show that the expansion of virtual spaces has been effective in changing the sense of place of citizens in objective social spaces. This effect is observed in all three dimensions of activity, body, and meaning in urban spaces and it occurs in the form of the human scale, meaning, body, performance, environment, art and beauty, and non-physical and physical components. The public space in the center of Rasht City has witnessed more invitations and pauses and the emergence of new behaviors in the last decade. Categories such as acceptance of others, identity, hangout, etc. are the causes and consequences of this issue. Also, the spread of virtual media influences the interaction between humans and space, and thereby, the sense of place in a geographical place. So, by regarding it as the core category in grounded theory, the sense of place can show the relationships between categories and concepts. Using modern technologies in public spaces, designing a particular route for using mobile phones while walking, establishing urban furniture in the right number, with the right design, and in the right place, designing and implementing 24-hour lighting, supporting the presence of itinerant artists, and properly planning the climate comfort of pedestrians are among the research suggestions. Urban space's publicness and decline in new urban space's publicness have been addressed by many researchers and commentators in recent years. Although their attitudes towards publicness have been mainly influenced by civil society discourse, and despite existing theories about publicness in the civil society discourse, none of them has introduced constructive factors for the publicness of urban spaces. Also, there is no consensus on the criteria for evaluating the publicness of these spaces. Considering this theoretical gap, the first step of this research is through a systematic review of scholars' opinions and research experiences to identify the component factors of the publicness of spaces in the civil society discourse. In the next step, the Delphi technique is used to evaluate the usability of these factors in assessing the publicness of urban spaces. The results show that only four factors, namely, public access, adaptability, interaction and discussion, and immunity can be used to assess the publicness of urban spaces. Manuscript profile

The vitality of urban public spaces is a critical and essential subject that is influenced by numerous micro and macro factors. Among these factors, "culture" as a determining concept in human societies can significantly impact the presence and behavior of individuals in urban public spaces. The objective of this study is to identify the dimensions and degree of influence of cultural components on the vitality of urban public spaces. Cultural components include language, values, norms, beliefs, constant activities, material outputs, and more. This research was conducted using field and survey methods. Three prominent urban spaces within a specific area in Qazvin were selected and evaluated for their levels of vitality. Then, the cultural components were analyzed through a survey method, and their relationship with the vitality of urban spaces was examined. The findings of this study indicate that the three selected urban spaces vary from each other in terms of their vitality score. Through appropriate statistical analysis, it was concluded that there is a significant relationship between cultural components and the vitality of urban spaces. The most important component of material culture was found to be "social interaction," while the least important was "space design." Among immaterial factors, "religion and belief" were identified as the most important, whereas "linguistic" was the least important effective element. In conclusion, culture plays a crucial role in shaping the vitality of urban public spaces in Qazvin. The outcomes of this study suggest that urban planners and policymakers need to prioritize cultural components when designing and planning urban public spaces, which can help create more vibrant and attractive urban environments.
