The present study compared the effectiveness of rational-emotive benavioral group therapy (REBT) and psychodrama in altering emotional expression styles. 36 clients were assigned to the experiment (REBT and Psychodrama) groups and control group. Group members were evaluated before and after 12 group counseling sessions using the Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), Ambivalence over Emotional Expression Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), and the Emotion Control Questionnaire (Roger & Najarian, 1989). The results showed that both methods of rational emotive behavioral group therapy and Psychodrama increased emotional expressiveness and decreased inhibition and emotional ambivalence in clients. However, psychodrama was more effective than REBT in increasing emotional expressiveness. Manuscript profile

This study examined the mediating role of emotional expressiveness in the relationship between academic buoyancy and family communication patterns.Five hundred and four students (261 girls, 243 boys) were selected from high school of Shiraz, Iran using multi-stage random cluster sampling. The participants completed the Revised Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994), the Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire (King & Emmons, 1990), and the Academic Buoyancy Questionnaire (Dehqanyzadeh et al, 2014). The results of path analysis indicated that the model had a good fit to the data. The family communication patterns had a significant direct and indirect effect on students' academic buoyancy. The conversation orientation had a significant positive direct effect on academic buoyancy. The conversation orientation   increased academic buoyancy indirectly through increasing positive emotional expressiveness and decreasing negative emotional expressiveness. The conformity orientation decreased academic buoyancy indirectly through increasing negative emotional expressiveness. The findings suggested that emotional expressiveness had a mediating role in the relationship between family communication patterns and academic buoyancy. Manuscript profile

There is a convincing evidence that suggests high rates of obsessive-compulsive personality disorder in a sample of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Comparison and evaluation of different styles of emotional expression, with respect to its various subsets can clarify the characteristic of the two disorders and indicate the similarities and differences between them. The aim of this study was to compare the styles of emotional expression (expressiveness, control and ambivalence in emotional expression) in patients with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and normal subjects. To this end, in a post-event study of 43 patients with obsessive personality disorder, 41 patients with obsessive disorder and30 normal patients were selected in a screening method. They were tested in terms of obsessive compulsive disorder, obsessive compulsive personality disorder and emotional expressiveness, emotional control, ambivalence in emotional expression. ANOVA results indicated a significant difference in the control group and the ambivalence expressed emotion.  It seems not only emotional expressiveness cannot be an indicator of differentiation for patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder but it is even not a good indicator to distinguish between a normal groups of patients. However, emotional control and the intensity of ambivalence in emotional expression may be an indicator of differentiation for the two disorders. Manuscript profile

Emotion regulation plays an important role in responding to possible stresses and crises, especially among adolescents, So, it is important to examine the role of effective factors in the development of emotion regulation. Current study investigated the role of attachment and family functions in prediction of emotion regulation in adolescents. A sample of adolescents between the age of 14 to 17, selected based on multi-level cluster sampling, completed a battery of questionnaires including family function assessment, inventory of parent and peer attachment and children and adolescent’s emotion regulation checklist. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results of this study showed that the overall function of the family was most important in predicting emotional stability, self-awareness in expressing emotions, emotional expressiveness in suitable situations, emotional flexibility and control and management of emotions. Other family functions’ subscales including behavioral and communication control also played an important role in emotional expressiveness in suitable situations. However, attachment to mother showed weak correlations with several subscales of ERC, did not play a significant role to predict emotion regulation strategies in adolescents. Therefore, the healthy family function can play a crucial role in the formation of emotional stress during adolescence, and prevent many challenges during adolescence. Manuscript profile

Diabetes is a common chronic disease. Not accepting the disease, be sensitive to fluctuations in blood glucose, to need insulin injections, restrictions on dietary and physical activity levels, to need accurate and continuous care of their self, and also the risk of serious complications, can lead to psychological problems in diabetics. Research shows that sexual dysfunction is very common in women with diabetes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotion focused group therapy on improving emotional expressiveness and sexual functioning of women with type 2 diabetes. For this purpose, during the semi-experimental design with pretest, post-test and control group, 24 women with type 2 diabetes were selected from one of health centers in Mashhad through judgmental sampling and randomly placed in two experimental and control groups. The subjects were evaluated for emotional expressiveness and sexual functioning before and after the intervention. Eight sessions of Emotion-focused therapy were used for the experimental group. The results of analysis of Covariance show that Emotion-focused therapy was effective in increasing the emotional expressiveness and sexual functioning of women with type 2 diabetes. Emotion-focused therapy can improve emotional expressiveness and sexual functioning of women with type 2 diabetes through validation of emotion and its reframing Manuscript profile

There is increasing evidence that people with depression disorder have emotional expressiveness problems that may play a key role in the pathology and continuity of this disorder. Some experts say suppressed emotions can lead to traumatic symptoms, including depression. So, the aim of this study was to develop of treatment program based on dynamic experiential model and determine its effectiveness on emotional expressiveness in depressed patients. Disorder. To this purpose, in a pretest–posttest semi- experimental research with control group, 30 patients with depression disorder were selected through convenience sampling method and randomly divided into experimental and control group. The experimental group underwent 20 sessions of treatment program and the control group did not receive any treatment. Score of emotional expressiveness in experimental and control groups was evaluated at beginning, after the treatment, and at 2-month follow-up. The results of covariance analysis showed treatment program improves emotional expressiveness in depressed patients. Also, results of repeated measure test showed a persistent effect over a two-month follow-up period. Overall, this study emphasizes on necessity of training and emotional expressiveness in depressed patients. Manuscript profile
