Fire is an integral part of most ecosystems, which have negative environmental and social consequences. The identification of effective factors in the occurrence of fire and mapping of fire risk in the forest is one of the basic tools to achieve fire control and countermeasures. The purpose of this study is to identify the ecological factors affecting the development of fire and assess the risk of fire in the forests of Sardasht region using a geographic information system. After basic studies, homogeneous environmental units were produced and divided into four classes using the multi-criteria evaluation method. The ecological conditions of the areas with a history of fire were investigated by conducting field studies. Data analysis was performed using a geographic information system and hierarchical analysis. The fire risk assessment was also performed linearly. In conclusion, vegetation and climatic factors are the most important ecological factors affecting the development of fires in the forest ecosystem. Besides, the area was moderate in terms of fire risk, and measures should be taken for high-risk areas, such as building fire stations and watchtowers. Manuscript profile

Following the rapid population growth and emergence new urbanization changes in the world, we have been witnessed the extension of urban development patterns such as horizontal expansion which has caused to form suburbs, to destroy agricultural lands and to forget intermediate textures and their depletion from inside. These matters makes it necessary using capacities and potentials of the inside of the town. Therefore the purpose of this paper is identify and examine capacities and potentials of infilling development in the neighborhoods of Sardasht. The kind of research is practical and its review method is descriptive-analytical. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and expert choice software were used to prioritize and validating standards and Geographic Information System (GIS) was used for layers production and processing. During this process 8 standards and effective indexes including population density, deserted and abandoned lands, brown lands, building quality, building floors, building age, military and cemetery applications were identified and applied. Finally by summing together of mass standards and sub standards, using mathematical operations attempted to create the final development map and their prioritizing. The final map indicates that the 3 and 8 neighborhoods which are placed in 1 and 2 priorities have the most infill development potential and 5 and 9 neighborhoods in the end of the priorities have the lowest capacity to develop from the inside(infill development).   Manuscript profile

Background and Objective: Today, due to increasing population growth and land use changes and its impact on the environment, monitoring and modeling land use changes is one of the main prerequisites for optimum use of land and achieving sustainable development. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and predict the spatial and temporal dynamics of land use in the county of Sardasht, in order to obtain basic information for planning in line with sustainable forest management.Material and Methodology:  Data from the Landsat 7 images (+ETM) 2003, and Landsat 8 (OLI) 2015 were analyzed. The Maximum Likelihood algorithm has been used to mapping the land use for the years. The analysis of the change dynamics using traditional Markov Chain and Cellular Automata was predicted for the next 25 years.Findings: The overall accuracy of classified images in 2003 and 2015 was 89% and 94%, respectively, and the Kappa coefficient was 0.87 and 0.92. The results showed that during the period, bout 7% of the forest area has decreased and the agricultural lands has increased by 72%. According to the Markov transmission probability matrix the classes most affected by these changes is the forests and rangelands that changed to agricultural and residential.Discussion and Conclusion:  Changes in the extent of forests until 2040 show that the area of forests will decrease continuously. The results of current study could provide quantitative information, which represents a base for assessing the sustainability in the management of Zagros forest ecosystems and for taking actions to mitigate degradation.
