Majid Abbaszadeh Marzbali[1]   Abstract: The purpose of this article is to investigate the relationship between national identity and ethnic identities in Iran and to introduce an appropriate identity policy-making model to strengthen the relationship between these identities and consolidate solidarity and national identity in the country. Accordingly, the key question of the research is that in the multi-ethnic country of Iran, the State of the Islamic Republic should adopt what kind of identity policy in order to strengthen the relationship between national identity and ethnic identities and consolidate solidarity and national identity in Iran? The hypothesis of the article is that considering the multi-ethnicity of Iran and the historical coexistence of national identity and ethnic identities in the country, the State of the Islamic Republic in order to strengthen the relationship between these identities and consolidate solidarity and national identity, should have an identity policy of unity in plurality. This policy can express national unity in the context of ethnic pluralism in the country. It should be noted that the research method of the article is descriptive-analytical. [1]. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of ethnic identity and cultural intelligence on the national identity of young girls in border cities of Ardabil province based on structural equations. In this research, using the theoretical perspective of symbolic interaction and the ethnic theory of Barth and Chankins and the theoretical discussion of Van Dain's cultural intelligence has been used. The research method was correlational survey. The statistical population was 46825 girls aged 18 to 35 years in the border cities of Ardabil province, of which 381 people were selected and studied based on Cochran's formula and by regional Stratified random sampling method proportional to volume (city of residence). Data collection tool was a standard questionnaire and statistical analysis was performed based on structural equation using Spss and LISREL programs. The regression values of the structural equation model indicate that ethnic identity (0.31) percent and cultural intelligence (0.26) percent affect national identity. Accordingly, ethnic identity has the greatest effect, and cultural intelligence has the least effect on national identity. The results of the research are in line with other researches, so with the expansion of ethnic identity and cultural intelligence, a step can be taken to establish national identity in the border cities of the country. Abstract The presence of the different ethnic groups in the ancient society of Iran has caused the cultural and social exchange throughout history. Because Iran is a multi-ethnic country, the continuity and survival of the identity of Iranian culture throughout history owes a lot to different ethnic groups like Kurds, Azeris, Lors, Beluches, Torkamans, Arabs and Fars. Considering the liveliness of Iranian culture and the social cultural changes in Iran in recent decades, the people of Iran have found a more comprehensive understanding of the world, world culture and their Iranian culture. This recognition and awareness have not been without effect from the internal and external world. The theory that as a result of globalization, we will witness growth and development of ethnic identities and consequently also witness the challenging of national identity in Iran, theoretically and practically cannot be supported considerably. Because in parallel to the process of globalization and fro recognition of the type of connection between Iranian culture and world culture. We can suppose that it is not the separation and distinction of the cultures that do matter but rather the connectivity and interaction of them. Considering this supposition, the most important background for the spread of the universal spirit and globalized inclinations in the Iranian identity can be seen in its historical origin.           Iran is a country with an ethnic diversity that these people have had diverse relationships with each other throughout the history. National solidarity is seen as a prerequisite for the development of the country. The city of Miandoab is one of the areas with two ethnic groups where the Azeri Turkic and Kurdish people live in the region together. Knowing that the Azeri Turkic and Kurdish people emphasize on which type of their identity can increase the understanding of the issue. In the present research, the main question of the research was suggested as follows: Will the weak ties between two people increase the national solidarity? Given the background of the research and available theories, the hypothesis was made as follows: There is a significant relationship between the weak ties between the two ethnic groups and the national / ethnic identity. The research methodology was a surveying one using randomized sampling method. The research findings revealed that the national identity increases with the increased weak ties between the two ethnic groups. Also, as the level of communication of a nation’s people with the people of another nation decreases, their ethnic identity rate will increase as a result. The result of the study indicated that one of the most important factors in strengthening national identity is the extent of communication and relationship between the people of ethnic groups. With the increased relationships between ethnic groups, the national identity, and consequently, the national solidarity will also be strengthened. Manuscript profile
