It is a widespread belief among Muslims that God has got a name which is unknown to almost everybody, hence only a very few and limited number of people might be aware of it. It is such that one who remembers God or calls on him through pronouncing His rarely known but miraculous name will soon find his desire fulfilled, hence miraculous jobs may be accomplished in the world of creation only through pronouncing it. Muslims have since called it the Greatest Divine Name (ism-e A`zam) and have written a lot on how to obtain it, and its various functions, coupled with many related anecdotes. The present work surveys an overview and presents a classification of such conjectures, with an outlook unto its nature, hence an attempt to take an initial step to formulate a conception of the Greatest Divine Name in Islamic culture and teachings. Without overlooking its nature or  historical process of identification, the present work attempts to piece together Muslims' attention to it, all drawing upon reliable anecdotes, exegetical comments, moral hints, and theological and philosophical views as scattered here and there in various works. It will then make a ground for reviewing various views of the phenomenon of the Greatest Divine Name, with the historical trends that fostered ahead any of them, together with their socio-cutural background Manuscript profile

Some of the #ayyārān, under the impact of ascetics(zāhidān) from various sects and religions, including Islam, developed#ayyāri into javānmardī (or futowwa). Afterward, there was a mutualimpact between Sufism which spread in Iran in 4th and 5th AH andJavānmardi. Sheikh Abul-Hassan Kharaqāni, who apparently wasclose to javānmardi, became familiar with Tasawwuf, and later on, hewas considered as a member of Sufi orders by Sufi authorities. In thepresent article, after a brief introductory description of javānmardi,Kharaqāni's sayings in the works attributed to him is studied as well asthe reports of Sufi sources about him. Then the relationship betweenKharaqāni and javānmardi is discussed along with a debate aboutwhat he understands from javanmardi. Finally, the article tries toconclude whether Kharaqāni should be seen as a religious mysticamong javānmardān or as a mystic among Sufis. Manuscript profile

Abu al-cAbbās Qaßßāb ĀmulÊ, an Iranian sufi of the 4th century A.H. is one of the leading figures of the Futuwwah and chivalry. Considering the similarity of his views on spiritual journey with the fundamental ideas of KhusruwānÊ mystics of the eastern side of wisdom, such as intuitive tawÈÊd and other related subjects, and because of the conformity of his chivalric manner with that of the KhusruwānÊ wisdom and Mazdaism, and also for some other textual and rational arguments, it is legitimate to regard him as a link in transmiting the eternal essence of wisdom from the spiritual kings of ancient Iran (kÊyåmarth, Firiydån, Kaykhusruw) to BāyazÊd BasãāmÊ and \allāj, and finally to Abu al-\asan KharaqānÊ.            Abolhassan Mawardi is a fifth-century political theorist who played an important role in shaping the foundations of the Islamic State's political power. The political ideas of Muslim policymakers have also found their way into historical texts over time. In this study, the authors have tried to examine in a descriptive-analytical way the similarities between the political views of Mawardi on the requirements of government and the duties of rulers in the book Al-ahkam al-soltaniyya wa al-welayat-e al-diniyya and the religious provinces in the Tarikh-i Jahangosha. Findings show that the main components of common political views in the two books "Al-Ahkam Al-Sultaniyya wa alwelayat-e al-diniyya" and "Tarikh-i Jahangosha-ye Joveyni" in six main areas of rule, duties of Imam and ruler, removal of Imam and ruler, rulers of domination, suppression of opposition, bureaucracy and nine can be checked. In the writings of both authors, the attainment of power and the permanence of government for the ruler is a matter of divine will and approval. Mysticism is a kind of cognition based on a spiritual and indescribable state in which man feels that he received a direct and immediate connection with the existence of the Almighty God. These feelings are spiritual and transcendental states in which the mystic understands the absolute nature through the taste and conscience. Mysticism is one of the important subjects of literature that has been effective in expanding and enriching poetic themes. Abu al-Hasan al-Shushtari, known as (the Bride of the Jurists), is one of the poets of the Andalusian period in the seventh century AH, who composed beautiful poems in the field of mysticism. In the meantime, Attār of Nishapur is one of the prominent poets of the sixth century and a pioneer of mystical poetry and Persian literature. This article, by use of a descriptive-analytical method, aims at the study of commonalities of mystical thoughts of these two poets on concepts such as (unity of existence, divine love, mystical cup, freedom, immortality and annihilation, reality of the world, consent and submission) in the poetic structure and language. The results of this research reveal that Attār of Nishapur and Abu al-Hasan al-Shushtari are prominent mystical poets, and the concepts such as freedom, divine consent, mystical cup, death and annihilation in God's cause, love of the Essence of The One, are repeated in high frequency in the poems of these two poets. Attār in his poems influenced the souls and spirit of his addressees through symbolic utterances, solitariness, novelty of speech and silence. Abu al-Hassan al-Shushtari speaks always of melting in Divine Way and believes that the Divine Love should be expressed manifestly. Abu al-Hasan al-Shushtari in his poetry was greatly influenced by Attār. Manuscript profile

Wisdom, love, and goodness are some concepts that have a special position in the mystical works. Among the various mystical works that have investigated these concepts is On the reality of Love (Fi Haghighat Al-Eshgh) which is a unique work. In this work Suhrawardi has characterized abstract concepts such as love, wisdom and goodness and has created a mystical and philosophical story. After him, many poets and writers have begun to imitate his work and created similar works .One of these is Fozouli's Health and Disease (Sehhat va Maraz). Given the similarities between the two works is the application of reason and good and love we considered and compared these concepts in these two treatises. Fozouli has paid more attention to the mystical meaning of these concepts; Suhrawardi has also considered the philosophical dimension of them. The reason has different meanings in the two treatises; but love and goodness have really close meanings. Manuscript profile
