        Purpose: This research is intended to examine and analyze the role of Information and communication Technology (ICT) in improving cultural management at Tehran Municipality Art and Cultural Organization. Methodology: This is an applied research according to its objective, and has a survey-descriptive (non-experimental) research method regarding data gathering method (research plan). The tool considered for collecting information is questionnaire. The statistical community of this study is Cultural Managers which totally include 287 managers. Stratified Random Sampling method was used in selecting the sample and 73 of abovementioned individuals were chosen as the sample size. Findings: In general, findings of the research indicate that the use of ICT is effective on the improvement of managing cultural services, increase in efficiency of cultural managers in course of the client-centric principle, decrease in cost and increase in speed of providing cultural products and services. Conclusion: The use of ICT causes improved cultural management at Tehran Municipality Art and Cultural Organization.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: This research aims to study the information seeking behavior of the postgraduate students in Razi University on the web. Methodology: The method used is based on the grounded theory. The data was gathered through the interview. A purposeful sampling technique is used to indicate a total sample of 30 postgraduate students of Razi University for the study. The grounded theory based on Meho and Tibbo’s model was used in this research. Findings: The results showed that the information seeking behavior model is based on the three basic stages of searching, accessing, and processing with eight sublevels i.e. starting, chaining, and revising in the first stage; selecting and updating in the second stage; filing, archiving, and organizing in the third stage. The major effective criteria within the three stages of information seeking behavior model have also been identified and reported. Conclusion: The important problems faced by the students in two stages of information accessing and processing were unreliability of websites, outdated sources of information, low speed transfer rate or internet access disconnection, e-journal discontinuation for subscription, unavailability of information, and unfamiliarity with the research methodology.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: The present study evaluates the role of the library and librarian in Evidence Based Practice and the level of knowledge of the doctors and librarians about the evidence based medicine. Methodology: It was a survey type study which has no hypothesis. Findings: The results revealed that 76% of the doctors and 84% of the librarians had some levels of knowledge about the evidence based medicine which is of very high necessity in running the program. 86% of the librarians agreed with the program.         Purpose: The present research was conducted to identify factors influencing some students to choose Library and Information Science (LIS) as their field of study. Methodology: The research method of this study was analytical survey and the statistical population was composed of undergraduate and postgraduate students of LIS at universities located in Tehran. A sample including 240 students was selected by stratified random sampling method. Research data were collected by the questionnaire composed of three factors motivation, attitude, and expectations. Findings: Considering findings of the research, 27.1 percents of the students identified this field accidentally and 26.3 percent by the university entrance exam guidebook. Obtaining an acceptable scientific and social position was the most important motivating factor to select LIS as their field. 82 percent of students became interested in LIS after coming to university. Conclusion: Overall, the field LIS was able to satisfy 39.6 percent of expectations of its students in a middle level.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: The present project studied the status of acquisition possibilities within the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) affiliated libraries of research institutes and centers. Methodology: Survey method is used in this research. In order to form a picture of the current situation, a questionnaire was designed and sent to 63 libraries. 49 libraries (%77/8) responded. The information was analyzed by descriptive statistical methods using Excel software. Findings: The results showed the total number of affiliated persons in libraries is 96. Totally 40 library staffs from 96 library staffs had university degrees in Library and Information Science. Most libraries had budget problem and they did not have access to stable financial resources. And, access to Internet with IP valid 55/1 and 28/58 percent of them lacked it. Conclusion: Finally, in order to eliminating the weakness of studied libraries and building coherence and concordance collections, some guidelines were proposed.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: The present research mainly aims to survey M.Sc dissertations relevant to chemistry field in Ahvaz Shahid Chamran and Shiraz Universities during the years 2002 to 2009 in order to determine the most used scientific and information resources in surveyed dissertations of these universities. Methodology: This research surveys 20320 bibliography resources which allocate to 244 M.Sc dissertations in chemistry (144 dissertations in Ahvaz Shahid Chamran University and 100 dissertations in Shiraz University) through citation analysis method. Analyzing the data, we used the descriptive statistics including frequency tables, average, percentage and etc. Then we inserted tables and diagrams via Excel 2003 software and SPSS 11. Findings: Among 100 surveyed dissertations in Ahvaz Shahid Chamran University, it was extracted 6400 bibliographic resources (1/4 percent) belonging to Persian resources and (98/6 percent) to the foreign ones. The investigation on the type of bibliographic resources in studied dissertations relevant to Shahid Chamran University in Ahvaz showed that totally the most bibliographic resources (84/7 percent) allocate to the journals with (84/7 percent). In surveyed dissertations of Shiraz University there are totally journals with (88/5 percent) in the first rate and the books with (8/7 percent). Conclusion: According to the research findings, the most bibliographic resources allocate to the journals. So, the core journals are identified on the basis of Bradford’s law. Averagely, each dissertation of Shahid Chamran University in Ahvaz includes 64 citations and each dissertation in Shiraz University includes 96/6 bibliographic resources.   Manuscript profile

        Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to do a comparative evaluation of Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq and Turkey National Library websites, based on important characteristics in usability of websites. Methodology: In this research, assessment of National Library websites has been done using a checklist. The checklist includes 11 criteria and 160 components for reviewing and evaluating websites. Results: According to allocated grade to hypothetical website (with 100% confirmed criteria and components) equal 663 points, the Iran national library website with 594 points (88/5%) has been achieved first rank. Turkey with 485 points (70/5%) and Iraq with 330 points (46/2%) are second and third, respectively. Conclusion: Based on the results of this research, some proposals have been offered to website designers and decision-makers of Iran National Library. Through recommended proposals in the checklist of Iran National Library website, the improvement of the usability of website and preservation of regional strategic position is possible.         Purpose: The aim of this study is to investigate the physical injuries of workplace among librarians of governmental universities of Isfahan based on Ergonomic principles. Methodology: The research method is descriptive survey by using questionnaire in 3 parts: demographic, Nordic, and library equipment and occupational conditions. Data analysis has been done by SPSS software, P coefficient of correlation and t-test. Findings: The amount of physical injuries at work according to different sections is Management/ 58%, Circulation/ 67%, Technical services/ %, andperiodical/ 77%.The librarians who work in other sections have declared the mount of injuries 11/11%, and those who simultaneously work at several sections have 84% injuries.On the whole, the amount of physical injuries in 12 months is 41/42%, in 3 months is 29/95% and in a week is 21/74%.The amount of absence at work is 7/7% and the amount of going to doctor because of physical injuries is 6/2%. Conclusion: There is a significant relation between age, work experience, and doing exercise with physical injuries, but there isn’t a significant relation between gender, working hours, library equipment and occupational conditions with physical injuries.   Manuscript profile
