Today internationalization of higher education has been accompanied with issues such as rapid changes, rebuilding of programs, elimination of geographical borders, and access to the new information and technology. The aim of this article is to study and compare the efforts made by curriculum planners in different universities around the world for the internationalization of the higher education. This comparative – analytical study investigates different approaches for the internationalization of curriculum of the higher education (including strategies, programs, activities and methods of teaching and learning) in countries like the United States of America, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Findings include strategies, programs, activities for internationalization of higher education curriculum learning and teaching methods in each country. Comparison of four strategies of the United States, Canada, Australia, and Japan showed that internationalizing the curriculum and learning strategies by embedding international content into their existing curricula is their most important strategy and teacher and student exchange programs receive less attention. Today, the internationalization of local and national curricula is of great importance. Manuscript profile

This quasi-experimental study with pretest – posttest and two control groups investigated the impact of cooperative learning on group tendency and academic achievement of high school students in Mashhad, Iran. The study population was high school first-grade female students of Mashhad in academic year 2010-2011. The sample size was 77, in which 24 were in the experimental group, 26 in control group 1 and 27 in control group 2. In the experimental group cooperative teaching method was used and in control groups the traditional teaching method .The tools were Evans and Jarvis’ group tendency questionnaire (1986) and researcher-made academic achievement tests. All the tests were consistent in terms of validity and reliability coefficient (0.86). To analyse data, both descriptive and inferential statistics (MANCOVA) were used.MANCOVA test showed significant differences among the tendencies of the three groups (P=0.001). Benfroni’s post hoc test results showed that the experimental group was affected more by cooperative teaching method compared with the other two groups (control group 1 with (P= 0.004) and control group 2 with (P=0.005)). But there wasn’t any significant diffenrence among the three groups considering academic achievement (P=0.646). Although this difference is not statistically significant, comparison of the averages of academic achievement in three groups showed better performance of experimental group. Teachers should learn active teaching methods and apply them in their classes. Also they should take measures to change students’ attitudes toward group work. Manuscript profile

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between learning styles of female high school students and their academic achievement. The target population was female high school students of educational district No.5 of Esfahan including 3483 students. Trough multi- stage random sampling method, 350 individuals were selected as the research sample. Research method was descriptive – survey method and data collecting was a questionnaire named Felder and Solomon Learning Style Index (FLSI). Using test-retest method, the reliability of questionnaire was calculated and obtained coefficients were : 0.86 for sensory-intuition domain,0.84 for active-reflective domain,0.86 for visual-verbal domain,0.82 for sequential-global domain. Felder and Solomon have verified validity of the questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions. Results showed that in human science courses, intuitive learning style, and in empirical science courses, global learning style correlated to academic achievement of students. Other styles showed no significant correlation with academic achievement. Multi regression analysis revealed that intuitive learning style of students of human science courses and global learning style of students of empirical science courses can predict academic achievement.
