The effect of teaching based on the learning cycle model (7E) on the scientific spirit and social self-efficacy of educational science students of middle Euphrates universities (in the lesson of research methods)

Abstract :
This study was aimed to investigating the effect of teaching based on the 7E learning cycle model in lesson of research method on scientific spirit and social self-efficacy. In this research, a quasi-experimental method was used with a pre-test-post-test design with control and experimental groups. The experimental group was taught by the 7E method, and the control group was taught by the common method in the university (descriptive). The statistical population was the students of the Middle Euphrates University of Educational Sciences, who were selected by the cluster-random method from among the third year classes of that university, and two classes of 30 students were randomly assigned as experimental and control groups. Both classes responded to the questionnaires of scientific spirit and social self-efficacy after translation and adaptation. The reliability coefficient of scientific spirit and social self-efficacy tests using Cronbach's alpha was 0.97 and 0.95, respectively. The collected data were analyzed with the descriptive statistics and covariance analysis test. The findings showed that the average of the control and experimental groups in the pre-tests of scientific spirit and social self-efficacy did not differ much, but in the post-tests there was a significant differenc in terms of the variable of scientific spirit (p<0.05) and social self-efficacy (p< 0.05), which can be concluded that the application of the 7E method on Academic spirit and social self-efficacy of students have had a positive and significant impact.
