Although Zoroaster and some of his teachings have been familiar to the Western people from the ancient time, the academic study of the history and the culture of Zoroastrianism has begun since the beginning of the 18th century. From that time, especially after the great development of the philological study in the 19th century, Zoroastrian texts have been studied in an academic and critical way. However as Zoroastrianism is an ancient religion belongs to the distant past and its limited sources it has been almost impossible to portray a clear image of the history of the religion. Actually Zoroastrian sources belong to different ages, from the late second millennium B.C.E to the early Islamic period (7th C.E.). Naturally Zoroastrianism has been developed through this vast amount of time. The Western scholars has interpreted this development from the different viewpoints: some of them believe these different texts did not belong to a single tradition so we should speak of ancient Iranian religions (instead of a religion). However some scholars have tried to find a single tradition through these various texts and the other hold that there was a single tradition which had different manifestations in the different ages and areas.  Manuscript profile

Shaikh Nizāmuddin 'Ulyā'(1325 C.E.) was one of the famous Sufis of India and Kabir (1518 C.E.) was one of the Indian mystics, both emphasized love and tolerance as the main element of mystical journey. The activities of Shaikh Nizāmuddin 'Ulyā'and his successorsled to the spread of the Chishtiyya dynasty and the promotion of the Persian language and Islam in the Indian subcontinent. According to Nizāmuddin love is a basic prerequisite for Muslim prayers. Divine love is manifested in the form of love to the pīr (mystical instructor) and in a broader sense it encompasses all creatures. Kabir as one of the famous poets and mystics of India, along with his followers, played an important role in promotion of Bhakti (love) cult in India. It is not clear Kabir was either a Hindu or a Muslim. Both groups try to introduce him as a member of their own cult. However, Kabir himself strongly criticizes the outward aspects or superficiality of both religions. He believes that love is the essence of religion so he emphasizes the Bhakti cult as the best way of praying. He also speaks of the love of guru as a main element in mystical path. Manuscript profile

Abraham Abulafia and Isaac Luria, two famous Jewish mystics, have presented a different and new description of creation and salvation, which is very different from the Torah tradition. However, both of them have presented their teachings in the form of interpretation of the Torah. In accord with the early Kabbalistic tradition, Abulafia believes that the creation took place through a series of divine emanations. Salvation is like climbing a ladder or the reverse course of the creation process, during which the soul rejoins the world of divinity and will be redeemed. But Luria explains the process of creation using the concept of Tzimtzum (God's retreat) and believes that humans are subject to repeated births and deaths. But, with certain practices, including religious rituals, meditation and penance, the long process of reincarnation can be shortened. So man plays an important role in the process of salvation.
