Investigating the determinants of the business space with an emphasis on financial stress

Abstract :

Financial stress is a condition in which financial markets and the economy are likely to experience financial turmoil. Financial stress leads to the inability of financial institutions to fulfill their obligations and the loss of the ability to allocate financial resources. Also, financial stress has led to the expansion of financial instability and by disrupting the functioning of the financial system, it harms economic growth and the business space. In this regard, the main goal of this study is to investigate the factors that determine the business climate with an emphasis on financial stress in the group of middle-income countries. In this study, financial stress index is calculated by GARCH model. The results of the estimation of the model using the fixed effects method in the period of 2021-2004 showed that financial stress has a negative and significant effect and the indicators of information and communication technology, innovation and the money market have a positive and significant effect on the business environment. But human capital does not have a significant effect on the business space.
