Abstract :
Purpose: One of the most important issues in Islam, is water conservation. Therefore the current research focuses on Islamic cultural components that are effective on water consumption. Method: This is a qualitive study, Attride-Stirling approach, that analyzes the context taken from local papers and Islamic scriptures relating to water use and consumption patterns. The contexts were organized in three categories, namely basic, organizing and comprehensive whose aim is to enable the researchers to access the Islamic culture contexts regarding water consumption. Findings: Four comprehensive factors namely belief, norm, value and knowledge as the main components of Islamic culture of water consumption, eight organized factors namely trust in God, social norm, ethical (religious)norm, legal norm, procedural norm, improving Islamic culture of the society, water as God's grace and honesty as secondary principles and at last 34 codes of basic content as small factors that should be considered in water consumption with emphasis on Islamic culture were obtained. Result: The combination of these four components shows water consumption in a Muslim society. In our country, desirable use of water has not yet been perceived as a culture. However simple but practical methods such as saving, training and following religious teachings can help improve the level of Islamic culture in the field of water in consumption.
