Purpose: The purpose of this research is study on the number of 8 proposed metasearch engines Contains Metagopher, Ask Jeeves, Webcrawler, Depperweb, Clusty, Goto, Metalib, Polymeta to response to specific questions in the field of Knowledge and Information Science.
Methodology: The number of 16 specific questions in this field in each metasearch engine searched and The first ten results Evaluated and compared in each metasearch engine for the base of the criteria's of Relevancy, Precision & False drops. Totally 1280 search done. data analysis used from the precision formula. Capabilities of each metasearch engine, the rate of false drops and its variants, difference of metasearch engines and selection of the best metasearch engine evaluated in response to these questions.
Findings: Findings showed that metasearch engines are not desirable for information retrieval in the field of Knowledge and Information Science.
Conclusion: Webcrawler is the best metasearch engine with retrieval of 87.31 percent and also each metasearch engine is different from other metasearch engines in retrieval of results.
