Assessing the level of security and presence of women in public spaces of tourist cities (Case Study: Farhang Neighborhood of Royan)

Abstract :
Equitable and secure access to public spaces for women is a key indicator of social justice and urban development. Nevertheless, feelings of insecurity often limit women’s presence in public spaces, reducing social vitality. This study investigates the physical and environmental factors influencing women’s sense of security and presence in the Farhang neighborhood of Royan. Using a descriptive–analytical approach, data were collected through questionnaires, systematic observations, and library research, and analyzed using SPSS software. The findings reveal that environmental qualities in three main domains significantly affect women’s willingness to use public spaces. Accordingly, strategies are proposed at the levels of physical design, urban management, and social culture to promote inclusive and secure public environments.
