Abstract :
Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are a group of Gram-positive, non-spore forming, cocci or rod shaped, catalase negative organisms, considered as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) organisms. Prebiotics are non-digestible and generally oligosaccaride food ingredients that stimulate the growth and /or activity of bacteria in the digestive system in ways claimed to be beneficial to health. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus(ATCC 4356), Lactobacillus plantarum (ATCC 8014), Lactobacillus fermentum (PTCC 1638), Lactobacillus casei (PTCC 1608) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus (PTCC 1637) against growth or activity of some nosocomial Infection in present and absent of prebiotics. Antimicrobial effects of bacterial culture supernatant were tested by using Agar Well Diffusion (AWD) method. Results showed that the Antimicrobial activity of probiotic lactobacillus spp. in present of prebiotics increased. So we can conclude that, adding prebiotics to MRS broth medium can stimulate metabolism and production of antimicrobial substances from lactobacillus spp
