Abstract :
This study aimed to predict the truancy rate among secondary school students based on academic hope and Academic Buoyancy. The present study was applied in terms of its objective and descriptive-correlational in terms of quantitative method and type of research. The statistical population of this study consisted of all second-year secondary school students in District 3 of Qom in the academic year 1402-1403, totaling 2159 people, of which a sample of 322 people was selected using a relative stratified random sampling method. Three questionnaires were used to collect data: Spadafora& Volk (2021) truancy rate questionnaire, Khormaei and Kamari (2017) academic hope questionnaire, and Martin and Marsh's (2008) Academic Buoyancy questionnaire. The face and content validity of the questionnaires were confirmed by experts, and their reliability was calculated and confirmed using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Data analysis was performed using Kolmogorov tests, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression in the form of SPSS24 statistical analysis software. The results showed that there is a negative relationship between academic hope and academic retention with students' truancy (P<0.01). Also, academic hope and academic retention were able to predict 47% of the variance of students' truancy well, and the hope of gaining opportunities had greater explanatory power. Therefore, using academic hope and academic retention, truancy can be reduced in students.
