Semiotic Analysis of Nader Naderpour's "Distant Star" Poem Based on Michael Rifater's Theory

Abstract :

The theory of semiotics is a systematic approach, reader-oriented and based on structuralism, which was presented by Michael Rifater (1978) as a practical method for analyzing poems and explaining the nature and function of literary texts. According to this theory, by examining the signs of the text and discovering its semantic networks, the origin of the text is tried to be obtained through the literary sub-maps that are spread in the text. The present article firstly introduces the approach of Rifater's theory, then, based on it, reads the poem "Distant Star" from the collection of poems "Sormeh of Sun" by Naderpour. The purpose of this research is to try to read the poem more accurately by referring to Rifater's theory of semiotics. It is expected that according to the theoretical capacities and scientific achievements of the Rifater approach, this method can be used in the creative reading and more detailed analysis of the poems in question and new results can be achieved.
