Relationship between job overload and job burnout with mediator role of emotional intelligence in teachers

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to explain the relationship between job overload and job burnout with the mediating role of emotional intelligence. The research is descriptive and correlational in nature. The statistical population consisted of 250 elementary teachers in Esfarayen were selected by proportional stratified random sampling based on Cochran formula. The research instruments were the Rod et al (2008), Burnout Maslach (1985) and Emotional Intelligence Questionnaires of Furnham & Petrides (2001). The validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by 10 experts and reliability by Cronbach's alpha method was 0.79, 0.80 and 0.82, respectively. Data were analyzed using Smart PLS 3/2 and SPSS 25 software. The results showed there is a significant relationship between job overload and job burnout with mediator role of emotional intelligence in teachers at 95% confidence level. The standardized path coefficient between job overload and job burnout is 0.611, indicating a direct (positive) effect of job overload on job burnout. The standardized path coefficient between job overload and emotional intelligence was -0.390, indicating an inverse relationship between these two factors. The standardized path coefficient between emotional intelligence and job burnout was -0.589.
