Identifying and formulating the pattern of factors affecting the progress of the higher education system: a synthesis of previous studies

Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to identify and develop a pattern of factors affecting the progress of the higher education system: a synthesis of previous studies. The data has been collected through the review of scientific documents and sources related to the research topic from 1402-1398. By adopting an interpretive method and a qualitative approach, the present study has finally coded 35 printed texts on the factors affecting the progress of the higher education system in Iran using the content analysis technique. To realize this issue, relevant keywords were searched in reliable scientific databases. One of the components of the development of modern societies is the higher education system. This complex and professional system in 20th and 21st centuries is made up of many factors and components. The components, each of which is related to several external factors, and as a whole, draw a system of several expectations for higher education. This situation in the third world countries becomes more complex in relation to development and sometimes anti-development ideas and consensus and lack of consensus regarding these components. In order to increase credibility and reliability of the collected documents, they were coded separately and the agreement rate between two coders was 0.81% according to the formula proposed by Miles and Heyerman (1994). After reviewing and analyzing the content of the sources, in this study, we came to the conclusion that based on acquisition model, 10 important and new influencing variables were extracted in the field of higher education system.
